Allowing different types of enchantments on clothing

Post » Mon Jun 18, 2012 1:15 pm

Once the CK came out, I began using Greybeard Robes on my character (I like the look). Since a lot of guards were treating me as if I were naked, I had to go back and check to see what was going on. Eventually, I managed to fix the problem after some fiddling with the item file. I think it's fixed, anyway, since people don't tell me to put clothes on now.

What I'm trying to figure out, however, is how to allow various enchantments to be placed on the robes. In-game, the enchanting menu has no allowable enchantments for the Greybeard Robes that I've been able to find, which basically means that I would have to either manually set up an enchantment from the CK (e.g. tacking on something pre-made, which I'd rather not do), or enable enchantments for the Robes.

It's the latter that I'd like to be able to do, but I haven't figured out how. Would anybody be able to give me some advice or an easy step-by-step guide on how to go about it?

Tell me what you did that change the greybeard robes because I think there is a keyword you would need to add to them so that they are eligible to receive enchantments.

-edit- I had a look through the creation kit and need to know did you add the ClothingBody keyword to the robes, and if you can't enchant them it may because you trying to put the incorrect enchantment for that kind of apparel make sure the hood has its correct keyword as well the boots if your trying to enchant them.

Hood should have the keywords ClothingHead, ArmorClothing, VendorItemClothing.
Robes should have the keywords ClothingBody, ArmorClothing, VendorItemClothing.
Shoes/Boots should have the keywords ClothingFeet, ArmorClothing, VendorItemClothing.

if you add all those keywords and your still having trouble make sure you putting correct enchantments on eligible gear.

I ticked the "playable" box (so I can see them in my inventory in-game) and added the "ClothingBody" editor ID keyword (it already had "ArmorClothing" and "VendorItemClothing"). The latter addition seems to have been what stopped the guards from saying I'm naked.

The only thing I can think of that is the issue is your trying to put enchantments on gear that originally can't, you can however edit the formlists so that you can put whatever enchantment you want on certain gear.

For example Waterbreathing on robes. You can't originally do that if im not mistaken.

if your looking for certain formlist go to the miscellaneous section and find formlist then type in ench to sort it out you should be able to put in keywords to those lists and that lets any item with that keyword be eligible for the enchantment.
