Almost all Argonian NPCs are thieves / bandits

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 9:55 am

Deeja - thief / bandit
From Deepest Fathoms - thief
Shahvee - (ex)thief
Wujeeta - illegal consumer of Skooma

Beem-Ja - watch your back
Deep-In-His-Cups - thief
Jaree-Ra - thief
Gulum-Ei - thief
Stands-In-Shallows - rogue
Veezara - Dark Brotherhood assassin
Watches-The-Roots - thief

Derkeethus - not techically thief/bandit but gives me the creeps and I like him less than Jare-Ra

It's really pathetic that even with attempting to use the console I have trouble finding a nice Argonian follower.

It's a less civilized place than down south. You're supposed to feel the anarchy.

I've seen quite a few mages, though none that could be used as followers. I don't think i've seen any Argonian warrior types though.

I think it says a lot about the Argonians, hm?

I don't take it as a bad thing, most of them are good people despite their past, it's just that it's pretty much what they were born to do.

Are there any Argonian followers?

I must say though, i find the Argonian lore much more interesting than most.

Don't forget the distance in between Skyrim in the Black Marsh, as well as the fact that they are lizards and yet Skyrim is very cold. It is much more likely to see Bretons, Orcs, Redguards, Imperials and Dark Elves, all of whose borders actually border Skyrim.

There's a nice Khajiit at the Mage's College.

Khajiit, Argonian, what's the difference... ;)

Because Skyrim is such a racist place that no Argonian Commoner would call that place home.

If anything, its usually business as to why those Argonians are there to begin with.

That said, almost all the bandit I met are humans.

one is a reptile and the other is a mammal and argonian culture doesn't praise and encourage thievery.

The way I see it, Argonians have it a bit more rough in foreign lands than most other races (Khajiit excluded). They're something of an underdog race, possibly a tad mistrusted in some places, which narrows down their options. Combined with their natural aptitude for shady business as well as their assumable lack of sympathy for the Nords of Skyrim, for example, crime may seem like an alluring option for them. However, I don't think they lean towards criminal life quite as strongly as Khajiit - after all, there are places in Skyrim where Argonians are employed in larger numbers in honorable, if low-income, jobs. Not to mention Madesi, Talen-Jei and Keraava, who actually seem to do pretty well doing what they do.

Argonians are amphibious and come from a much warmer, swampy climate so Skyrim is a really inhospitable country for them. It's not all that surprising that most of the few around are criminal types that probably don't have many options about where they can go.

That said, my Argonian character is lonely and getting depressed that there are no eligible Argonian bachelorettes around for him to marry.

There is a miner Argonian in Stonehills, who dreams of a better life.

That is because Argonians are thieves, that is their archetype.

I rarely see them which I think is a nice touch, it shows they pay attention to climate, they can't handle the freezing cold that well. That being said I've only put in around 70 hours, so the only Argonians I've seen were the trader in Riften and a bartender, and maybe the occasional bandit here and there.

Have a nice long look at the Argonian bartender at the Riften tavern.
