Gaming Irresponsibly is already considering Skyrim for their GOTY award. 6 MONTHS BEFORE IT IS RELEASED

Hmm...I guess it was a slow news day.

Considering Morrowind, Oblivion, and Fallout 3 all won at least one GOTY, I'd say Skyrim is a frontrunner.

I don't see why it wouldn't be.. but I understand that it is too soon to put any judgements on it. I recently did a blog over on gametrailers.com. I called it "Hype-Expectations" and I had Marcus Beer of Invisible walls actually comment on my post saying it was a great post. http://www.gametrailers.com/users/Killergymsox/gamepad/?action=viewblog&id=555162. I will summarize my opinion about hype. It is thrilling and exciting to look forward to a game and there is nothing wrong with that. I just think that it can get bad when we are leashed and led blindly wherever the media tells us to go. I have no doubts that Skyrim will be fantastic but I just have issues when people say "GOTY" before the game is out. It is a biased prejudgement. It's alright to say "I believe this will be a contender" but to say it WILL be GOTY without actually playing the game for yourself is a bit presumptuous. After saying that let me just say that I believe this will definitely be a contender ;P

And...? As if "GOTY" means anything anyway, with 300+ of them handed out like candy every year by every web site and their brother's web site.

"Big News?, our game was voted Game of the Year by DentalHygieneDigest.com!"

Hmm...I guess it was a slow news day.

I think exactly this every time I check in on these forums. :D

What a weird little article.

"How many times in Oblivion did you kill the shopkeep only to lose all his quest lines after? "

What? Zero times.

"Lets say you just got back from a cave where you killed a bunch of rats, only to find out the shopkeep’s son has a problem with rats in a cave. Oblivion would either have you complete the quest now, as you completed the primary objective, but not in Skyrim. "

What? Oblivion wasnt Morrowind. quest locations were inaccesible before the quest or the enemies were spawned specifically for the quest.

There is more odd stuff in there. Guy has I guess never played Oblivion, ever.

LOL I love how he says final fantasy is amazing. Square is losing a CRAP load of Yen right now.. Maybe they should start producing good games again.. IJS.

Sorry that was off topic but... srsly.

I think that's the first time I've ever heard the words "Elder Scrolls really devoted fan."

Edit: Ahh the censor. Well you guys can figure it out.

Sure you can try to play it differently, but chances are you’ll stock up in Megaton first or go through the Wayfarer’s cave outside the Castle Town in Oblivion.

Seriously? Nobody caught the glaring error here?!?

Fan bo(y)?

Yes, you're right. Horrid word for an extremely devoted Elder Scrolls fan.

This, pretty much.

As someone else above noted, Skyrim's already the front-runner 2011 GOTY contender at this point (among a field that includes Uncharted 3, Arkham City, and Assassin's Creed: Revelations), and traditionally, the deep, meaty, 300-hour RPGs always tend to fare better during the end-of-year awards season than other genres.

Too, Mass Effect 3 getting pushed back to 2012 just cleared the field bigtime, too.

I saw it, further proves that the person who wrote the article doesn't actually know much about Oblivion.

Yeah, really.

And who cares if a game is "GotY" or not? If it's good, and you like it..... what else do you need?

(Honestly, I don't understand why people get so worked up over games, either for or against. There's alot of good games out there. Liking one doesn't mean you have to despise all others. And not liking a game doesn't mean you have to consider it a crime against humanity.)
