Alright, so who else hates Dogmeat?

Save your stimpacks. He heals automatically.

Not me - I love wandering the wasteland with Dogmeat and the radio blaring full blast.

However, when I get ready for a tough mission, I choose another companion. But I am still fairly early in the game,

Well at least Dogmeat got me that nice gun locked in the cabinet just before we exit Vault 111.

Yeah, I know he does but I am a dog lover and don't like to see him suffer even a little bit. :glare:

As he had the tendency to block entries and the like, I left him at sanctuary quite early on. Then I used Codsworth for awhile, but switched "him" for Piper. And she′s still with me.

So you stab him with needles after he's been filled with bullets, batter with sledgehammers and mauled by Yao

I knew I'd been playing Fallout too much when I told my Saint Bernard to get out of my way, dogmeat.

Me too. I love that dog. So annoying to try to make someone happy. Dogmeat loves me just the way I am!

I swear that pooch screwed me up on purpose! Led me to safe. With a bomb near. Among cars :pinch:

I sent him home and scrapped his doghouse

Dogmeat's face really should be the trollface. Oh you want to remain hidden behind this corner? LOL how about I run out and alert all the raiders in the area instead :hehe:

Why does everyone call him Dogmeat? His name is Dog...this isn't Fallout 3 :P

I love him and I usually loathe companions. He has found some choice loot for me that I missed while looting and got me the Cryolator...that alone makes him better then other companions. He's quiet and will distract groups of ghouls or grab the legs of enemies long enough to handle them. in my game he's truly mans best friend.

Exactly what I have lol.. Down to a T. He is very helpful especially with that dog perk or whatever it's called he can knock down enemies and drag them around instead of just knocking them down I've also experienced him leaping at a raiders neck and bounced of of him. The AI of dogmeat is very "doglike", except for his few hiccups here and there which are minimal if even at all.

Every now and then he'll help you out by doing like a take down on an enemy. But for the most part he's really only good for distracting enemies. I like having him around when I fight ghouls cuz the all pretty much just swarm him first while I kick back and take shots at them. But it's unbearable when you're trying to do something precise like place an item in your house and he stands right in front of you, preventing you from placing it... Also he has like no health so you're constantly using stimpacks to revive him. I just got To Diamond City and got Piper as my companion so I'm hoping that once I give her some good gear, she can actually be effective in fights. Having a partner that's able to shoot at bad guys from a distance will be nice too!

I am also a fan. It's much easier to shoot things with him hanging off its leg and he can't die so molotovs and grenades work fine as well.

I just felt bad hearing him yelp all the time (probably because I was [censored] at protecting him) so I just let him sit at home now.

I like Dogmeat, but sometimes he runs forward when I’m trying to click on him to do something. Maybe there should be a whistle button so that he comes over to you and doesn’t run away.

Dogmeat is great at the beginning. Once you get going you really don't need him. Plus with companions like Valentine, or Deacon (for stealth chars he's probably the best and funny - but you can't romance him) Dogmeat is set to guard my bunk at the Rocket Gas Station. But I do visit him from time to time.

You ask him to find items for you when you're near the room...he's good like that. :P

As was said, you go in front of it, and then ask Dogmeat to "fetch" something in a container I believe or something like that. I read it somewhere and it worked for me on Xbox One. Now I need ammo for it lol. Now to figure out what kind of ammo it uses lol.

This made me laugh so hard. Because it's so very true. Especially since he's so insanely hyperactive and goofy-serious about his mission being on the road with you. And all dressed up in his custom doggie armor, bandanna, and googles you give him to wear. It was fun changing out his bandannas every other day or so. Now all he's missing are doggie booties. :P

But I've got to admit that while Dogmeat drives my PC bat sh :liplick: e crazy, at least he does it in the most adorkable way. Which is why I've taken to leaving him behind to guard the RR and hangout in his shiny new doghouse. Since he's so good at opening doors, hopefully he'll find a way to open tin cans and start eating all that dog food I've been coming across lately in the wasteland. lol. Another reason I've been leaving him behind, is it didn't feel right killing all of his feral dog cousins--then butchering them for stew or wholesale to vendors. Buying dogs from that dog vendor for my settlements made it even worse. It became very disconcerting for my PC to find the new Lassie in the settlement drooling over the delicious dog stew he just crafted

edit: can anyone confirm or deny that he's invincible to an area like the Glowing Sea?
