Alter running speed modifier

Hello all,

Just getting into Oblivion after years and years of playing TES:III. I've realized this game has huge potential for improvement with a small number of realism tweaks. One that I haven't been able to find yet is something which changes the speed modifier applied when in "running mode".

It bothers me a bit that my walking speed is normal, but as soon as I hit the shift key even my Orc with lowly athleticism and speed turns into an olympic sprinter. I'd like the for the "run" to really be more of a jog.

I found an article on UESP called "Oblivion:Movement Forumulas", and it has exactly what I'm looking for: the modifier listed below

  • fMoveRunMult (Default: 3)

from what I understand, the value of this (default three) means that a running character moves X times faster than they would if walking, plus the athleticism modifier.

What this article hasn't explained is how to alter this modifier. Can this be done in the .ini? I tried adding a line in the .ini with fMoveRunMult=2 and didn't notice any difference.

If anyone has any knowledge of how to change something like this, I would be in your debt!

Game settings are not to be confused with ini settings. Game settings can be altered in many ways, the simplest one is to alter them in a mod made in the CS. It's done in the gameplay tab, at Settings... a window with all the game settings in alphabetical order will appear, you can change their numeric value there, save your changes in an esp file, and they will apply when loading the game with it active.

An example of the above :D
