I have not really been a big fan of Mages in the past but i am liking the new magic. and im wondering what exactly Alteration does, is it like that frenzy spell in the demo? i just want to know

Alteration generally provides buffs to the player, stuff like damage and elemental shields, life detection, weight reduction, telekinesis. I find it goes well with Restoration if you wish to be a defensive spellcaster (heals & buffs)

I think frenzy was Illusion. Alteration would be more of shields, deflecting damage and picking locks.

Illusion is an altered reality seen only by the caster and it's target/s. Alteration is an altered reality seen by all....or something like that. Alteration has buffs, unlock doors, Telekinesis etc, whereas Illusion has charm, frenzy and invisibility.

alteration is mostly defensive and utility magic. shield as well as elemental resist spells, along with water walking/breathing and lock opening.

Alteration doesn't change what one sees, it alters the physical world like changing the weight of objects (feather) or being able to walk on water, telekinesis was part of mysticism.

In the demo it was under alteration.
