Alternate Beginning MOD

Could someone recommend an Alternate Beginning MOD?

I've looked around a bit and not found anything. I'd just like to be dumped out the end of the sewer with the character customizations options intact, or something else equally low-tech. I'd also like to find one that doesn't present compatibility issues later in the game.

Thanks.

Nexus search ftw. ;)

http://tesnexus.com/downloads/search.php?name=altern%20start&scid=20&author=&mname=&desc=&size1=&size2=&downloads1=&downloads2=&udate1_day=&udate1_month=&udate1_year=&udate2_day=&udate2_month=&udate2_year=&ldate1_day=&ldate1_month=&ldate1_year=&ldate2_day=&ldate2_month=&ldate2_year=&endorsemants=&images=&readme=&advltonly=&page=1&orderby=name&order=ASC is a search I prepared earlier (actually, just now) - as you can probably see, using partial words works fine. I used "altern start" there, which would pick up "alternate" as well as "alternative", for example. It's very simple, once you get used to it. You can search in certain mod areas, as well as order by name, date, file size, popularity, etc.

My favourite is "Alternative Start Arrive by Ship", because it's straightforward, and I haven't had any issues with it, whereas I have with some others. "Start Choices" (search, either for that, or just for "start", perhaps) is very neat, mind you - worth a look.

Also, if you search for "skip intro" @ the Nexus, you might just find exactly what - it seems - you're after...

Ah, the partial word thing works very well indeed.

Thank you very much for the info, and for taking the time to answer. I appreciate it.

I've been messing about with Tungol's http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=25591 mod lately and I'm very impressed. It offers 45 starting locations, plus a few random "Surprise me!" choices to make things more interesting. You create your character in a "dream world" in which you wander through various areas. I find it to be a very enjoyable process. On top of that, it does not interfere with getting the DLCs started, as other mods can sometimes do. I heartily recommend this mod.

That sounds very very cool, Pseron. I'm going to take a crack at that one. Thanks for the heads up.

As for the DLCs, I need to find a current mod that won't drop those all in at the beginning of the game. I know there is one, can't think of it at the moment.

I'm guessing this would be the one you're thinking of :)

I know some Alternate Start mods cause problems with All Natural Weather - Start Choices (which is otherwise wonderful) was unfortunately one of them. At the moment I'm using Alternate Start Revamped, which offers lots of start options and is a good one, although Pseron's suggestion is intriguing - might give it a go next time round.

I'd like to know as well - and does this supposed problem persist after character creation?

I was using Alternative Start - Arrive By Ship and liked it well enough. It doesn't offer as much vague backstory options as the other one posted above, though, and may conflict with mods that alter the Anvil docks (I never checked to see if it did). I'm going to try the one listed above, but the Arrive By Ship one isn't too shabby, and delays the main quest until certain criteria are met. As far as I know it does so pretty much bug free.

Having used start choices - I was not aware of any conflict with All Natural and just wanted to know what the person was talking about.

My bet is that it just alters the weather during face gen process making it harder to see, but if more serious ???

My general advice though is have bare minimum mods active when starting a game and by no means is AN necessary from the very beginning it can be added later if there is a serious conflict. The idea that all mods to be used must be added as soon as the game starts is part of what leads to endless help threads.
