War...war never changes...
Invasion, nuclear war, massive death...this is nothing more than a mere taste of the tragedy that has befallen the new world. After the People's Republic of China released the showers of nuclear death onto America, the People's Liberation Army launched a massive invasion on the most crippled sections of the destroyed United States, securing their victory over their once rival superpower. They were brutal, killing unarmed civilians on sight and taking no prisoners for any reasons, save torturing them to death for their own twisted amusemant. Not willing to stand for this, the leftovers and remnants of the one time superpower United States joined together and stood up to the Communist invasion. Men, women and even children had united together to resist and fight against the People's Liberation. People are no longer people, but tools of war. And war? War never changes...
LANDMARKS LEFT OVER FROM THE WAR
HuLLYWOD WASTELAND RADIO STATION
Formerly known as: The Hollywood sign
Picture: http://blogs.guardian.co.uk/culturevulture/archives/hollywood.jpg
When the bombs fell, the Hollywood sign was obscured beyond recognition. The remains of the sign is where the "Hullywod Wasteland Radio" studio is hosted. They play many of the golden oldies from the 50s and give frequent news reports interspersed between them, much like the Galaxy News Radio of the Capital Wasteland. Unlike them however, the station is protected by soldiers of the Enclave, who supports the Station's goal to bring music and communication back to the leftovers of the United States
RAID STADIUM
Formerly known as: Dodger's Stadium
Picture: http://www.annenbergspaceforphotography.org/images/ss_print/1962DodgerStadium.jpg
The Raid Stadium, formerly known as the Dodger's Stadium was built as a sturdy building, and so it was no surprise that it came out of the blasts intact. The Raid Stadium used to be used as an arena for the Los Angeles Dodgers to play professional baseball for their fans. After the war however, the profession of baseball had disappeared, and so the Stadium was up for grabs. A large, influential tribe of raiders quickly saw it as the perfect home base for their tribe as well as a great safe haven and counter from the ECLA, and quickly commandeered it. Now, it's the raider's main base in the Los Angeles Wasteland and is currently in a rivalry of sorts with the ECLA
ECLA (ENCLAVE CENTER OF LOS ANGELES)
Formerly known as: Staples Center
Picture: http://en.structurae.de/files/photos/2529/los_angeles/staples_center_02.jpg (Pretend it's in black and white and says "ECLA" instead of Staples Center <_<)
After the Brotherhood of Steel's Liberty Prime attack, the Enclave had to seek refuge from the Brotherhood. They decided Los Angeles was the best place to escape to, and so they did. When they arrived however, all of the existing US Army bases had been blown to smithereens either by the Chinese nuclear bombs or the Chinese invasion. So, because they had to use an unconventional building as their main base, they chose the Staples Center. They renamed it the "Enclave Center of Los Angeles" and made it their leading base of operations. They started cracking down on the Raiders, who were trying to overtake the center, and gained many followers and enlistments because of this but also launched itself into a small rivalry with the Raid Stadium. After the People's Liberation Army's invasion, they started gaining even more enlistments and followers, and soon became much more influential and powerful than they had ever been, as well as the current most powerful faction in Fallout America. The Center serves as the main military base as well as the White House, where the President lives. It has also lent out spare soldiers to protect various places of their choosing, such as the Hullywood Wasteland Radio Studio and the LAI
BOWL CITY
Formerly known as: The Hollywood Bowl
Picture: http://blogs.laweekly.com/westcoastsound/hollywoodbowl.jpg
The Hollywood Bowl mysteriously managed to stay intact after the war, and no one knows how. Nevertheless, the Bowl was turned into a city/marketplace by wasteland survivors and scavengers used to buy, sell and trade pre war items that were scavenged, and it's possibly one of the largest of it's kind in the LA Wastes. The Bowl itself is still somewhat used for it's original purpose, entertainment such as music and plays, for the people of Bowl City. Bowl City is a big supporter of Hullywod Wasteland Radio, and gives them funding to keep the Radio Station up and running and in return receives Enclave soldiers to guard the city from raiders and super mutants
THE LAI (LOST ANGELS INN)
Formerly known as: LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art)
Picture: http://lamodern.files.wordpress.com/2010/03/lacma65.jpg
The Los Angeles County Museum of Art, like the Hollywood Bowl, managed to mysteriously survive the bombing of the Chinese. It has since gained a history not unlike the Tenpenny Tower of the Capital Wasteland, a man named Douglas White saw the museum as a place for home, food an shelter. He used his money and resources to construct it into a luxurious hotel (as luxurious as you can get in a post nuclear war American wasteland, anyway) and renamed it "Lost Angels Inn". It's now a very successful business, and is the second biggest refuge area in LA, after Bowl City. It also has earned protection from the Enclave, because they support the LAI's goal of bringing shelter to downtrodden Americans
CHINATOWN PRISON
Formerly known as: Chinatown
Picture: http://media-cdn.tripadvisor.com/media/photo-s/01/7f/57/c5/chinatown-la.jpg (Imagine it in black and white, and as an old, beat up prison instead <_<)
Chinatown, since it was a city, made it through the war intact. The Enclave ended up commandeering it and transforming it into a jail for any Chinese Communist prisoners they find. It's basically the Manzanar of the Fallout universe. Lots of the Enclave and even normal civilians refer to it by the incredibly insulting name of "Chink Jail/Prison", because of their hatred of China
