Alternate timelines?

Post » Mon Feb 10, 2014 4:12 pm

So I was thinking about a way to explain away the things in ESO that we might not like, and this was the solution I thought of. We know the Aurbis is very timey-wimey at times, and there are other dimensions of the Mundus like Mundus Redundant. Might it be possible that there is something like a "Many-Worlds" theory equivalent in the Aurbis?

I might be taking something I read to literally, but I'm pretty sure that there is already an alternate timeline where the Tribunal were always gods, so I don't see why this couldn't be another one.

Personally, I like the idea that was touted around here that ES:O is a historical fiction book that is popular with the laymen but lambasted by other scholarly groups denouncing it as poor representation of the events that happened in the second era, filled with unbelievable events (Plane Meld and plot by the Tharns) and characters (Looking at you, Ayrenn).

Also, where Talos was actually an Atmoran general.

Could the other timelines be seen as dreams that Anu had on other nights or something like that?

When it comes to all the crazy crap that happens that contradicts things at times, this is the best way to look at it...

...and move on.

Everytime something really messes with lore you get a lot of people that be all like:

Though I admit, I'm getting that way a bit when it comes to Thalmor and the Aldmeri Dominion in ESO (as in, they shouldn't be the ones in charge of the AD because they're supposed to be a branch, not the ones in power like they are in the 4th era...but oh well, see above)

If the lore in Shadowkey http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Shadowkey:First_Scroll_of_Shadow and http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Shadowkey:Second_Scroll_of_Shadow is any indication, there are indeed other possible worlds.

One of my favorite shows ever, and so applicable to the current situation lol.

And wow, I really like the idea of ESO being a fictional book, perhaps something like an epic that was composed like the Iliad and the Odyssey that is being kept alive because of its historical importance rather than its historical accuracy.
