[Idea] Alternate Tribunal Main Quest

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 8:06 pm

Perhaps you can include a few different endings based on the player's actions. Two or so where Sotha sil and Almalexia die and maybe one where they don't.
Some where Helseth gains complete power some where he doesn't. I just really like the idea of the player being able to influence major events and have some choice in what happens.
This is an "Alternate Tribunal Main Quest" after all, so it's not going to fit with the series chronology anyway.

Also; if it comes between e Almalexia or Sotha Sil surviving; my vote is for Sotha Sil :toughninja:

Can I suggest dropping the silly quarantine? It really irks me.
We all know it was mentioned (as a throw away) in a vague attempt to explain the lack of a mainland, in Tribunal.
Of course in Morrowind itself, people mention arriving and leaving unhindered. Some quests revolve around people doing this.
Further, if there was a quarantine, if the Nerevarine/senior member of a guild/Great House leader blatantly broke the 'quarantine' don't you think people would notice?

Finally, TR is slowly removing all rational reason fro this ill thought out fudge to exist anyway.

Make it easy on yourself and just handwave it away, or even formally drop it out of the tiny handful of dialogs it appears in.

The quarantine's purpose is to prevent the spread of blight and corpus disease from Vvardenfell to the mainland, so there's a logical reason for. The people who arrive and leave Vvardenfell probably
have go through an extra level of bureaucracy but I would imagine that travel between the Mainland and Vvardenfell isn't completely forbidden by the quarantine.

TR's position is that the quarantine exists, by the way :)

Actually, I don't recall the word quarantine being in the esm at all. It's hardly mentioned, doesn't cover the mainland, only Mournhold, and isn't as strong as a quarantine.

I'm sure TR will be rigorous as they always seem to be.

Anyone want to write a few dialogues?

Opps, I must have skipped reading this post somehow :read:

Anyway, I would be up to writing some dialogues. What do need? :toughninja:

The Clockmaker lives!

It's great to see this project still has life and that I might be able to contribute to it :touched:

I would suggest a somewhat larger part for the King after his welcome to mournhold type quests. I mean he is king after all and he is the first one recently who is not a pawn of the temple so I think he would somehow find out if a Daedric Prince was about to step in and destroy his city and would want to do something about it. Other than that, it sounds good. By the way I would like to help with the dialogue if you still need people to do that. I can't do a ton since I'm currently working on a couple of other projects right now, but one is almost finished and the other I'm waiting on the cells to be finished.

I would have loved to help, but English isn't my first language, and I'm already involved in a French mod that adds much dialogues, so I think it would run me mad. :ahhh:

Anyway, that's not what I'm posting for.

I really like your storyline, even though I think there's something that isn't completely lore-correct ; Dagon's appearence. Indeed, the magical barriers should prevent Mehrunes Dagon from coming to Nirn - it has been weakened by the disappearence of the Heart of Lorkhan, but it isn't still weak enough to let a Daedric Prince get in that easily. So rather than placing him directly (which, what's more, would need a very big and nice creature - I alsways thought that Beth's Dagon looks like a big doll - ), you'd better only let the Mythic Dawn (for that's what they are, so why wouldn't you call them so ?) TRY to convoke him, but fail - and that would be because of this failure that they realize they need to have another Tower switched off (the White Gold Tower :P) before they can really get MD walking on Tamriel.
But this doesn't prevent you from placing some (many  ) daedras on the Brisindi Dorom Plaza, and have Almalexia fighting them aside with the Nerevarine, if you wish so - that would be epic.

P.S. : by the way, I can't agree with the Nerevarine's coming by boat, for two reasons :
- IRL, it wouldn't be a really pleasant means of transport, and it's far too long, when you can afford beeing inside the palace in two seconds, and without any troubles ; what's more, teleport is far more "royal" ;
- AND as long as there's no Tamriel Rebuilt, it would be... Somehow wrong. You're character is going throughout the mainland, but you never actually see it. No. I couldn't buy it. So if you really want to have the character coming by boat, wait at least for TR to be there. :glare:

about dialogues for Sotha Sil, I'll use most if not all, the ones from this page

http://www.imperial-library.info/obscure_text/sotha_sil.shtml

Men of god? Gods of men? Which should you fear most?

I could use this dialogue if the player asks SOtha SIl about Fedris Hler, the traitor of the Tribunal. He is a man of the goddess. This is howw Sotha Sil could give a hint about what type of person Fedris Hler is...

I'd like to keep his dialogues like this... but I could never write like this.

The part in the original post about Sotha Sil being unable to move is incorrect in the lore. Ever since Vivec hacked off his legs in Ald Sotha to save him, he's been levitating to move. After all, he's a mage beyond compare, and still has his arms and mouth to cast spells.

If there's going to be a final battle against Mehrunes Dagon, he could just as easily be in combat as Almalexia. Levitating and hovering slightly above ground and firing countless powerful spells at the Daedric Lord.

I sort of agree about the voice (though the model and animations look great :)). Although, I would suggest adding a bit of vertical movement to his animations like he's floating (the way you do in the "meditation" idle). As he is, he seems a little stiff.

I like better the first one, but it still doesn't exactly fit with what I would be looking for - which would be something deeper and, somehow, heavier.

But your animations are really great. :P

I like second one. First one sounds too young and not solid for the Living God.

I prefer how the first one sounds more human, but would it be possible to lower the pitch (make it a little more booming, maybe)?

I like the second one and somehow I dont feel theres any trouble with the voice sounding so young, Vivec and Almalexia look really young so I wouldnt be surprised if Sotha Sil sounded young too, perhaps he sounds too @healthy@ I mean this is aguy who let his body waste away.

To tell you the truth I would prefer a deeper darker voice these both sound to "everyday" talk (even the robotic one) like you are talking to your friend at school or work and just pronouncing you words very carefully.

Maybe put in a voice echo very slight though to where it isn't super god talking voice.

And maybe a bit more Demonic (demon like).
