Alternative beginnings & mqsdone...

Post » Mon May 07, 2012 5:00 am

I thought i try the easy way this time....

But,

The shipmod crashed the whole time during character confirming,
and i was not able to leave the cabin, as the mod thought i did not finish the immigration papers..
I had immediate character generation deactivated, and also nGCD, but it kept crashing..

Than Alternative beginnings, which operated correctly, as expected.
There, however was no Medalion, and totaly no equipment, like lockpicks, or repairhammers....

Without lockpicks i could not open the Basemant door from the Tiber Septim, to start mqsdone...

MOM, is agreat tool, which gives me the opportunity to do all kinda stuff, without messing up my maininstall, this is realy great!

I do not expect anything will be done about it, or do not ask for that...

Regards,

Oddball56.

You can buy a lockpick at the smash and slash for 8gp or just console to unlock the basemant door then lock it after mqdone.

The alternative start is instead of the tutorial so you should not expect that equipment. However, the other equipment given is for immersion of the particular start. So if Alternative Beginnings does not give you what you want use another mod like skip tutorial.

Nothing realy....
Well, actualy was trying to the start the very easy way, and i was happy, because of the possibilities given to my by MOM.
I can now do exactly what i want, without wrecking my maininstall-s- (
I was only sharing, tha's all.. ;-)

Like your new avatar btw..

Ofcourse, i know that.
Possibly all of us had to try a mod, to know exactly what it does no?
Same here.. no problemo, hasta lavista baby... have a beer: :foodndrink:

Alternative Beginnings does not give you the Amulet for two reasons:

A: If you don't take the prison start, it doesn't really make any sense, as you never meet the Emperor.

B: It allows you to completely ignore the Main Quest if you want. If you really do wish to take it on, pay a visit to Fort Ash to get things underway (I won't reveal any further details, though). The only backlash for not doing the Main Quest is Kvatch being permanently devastated.

I understand that if i didn't meet the emperor, he couldn't have given me the amulet,
i only did not know how than to start the mainquest, if one would want to.
So the hint for fort Ash is well taken, thanx.

The multiple installs option, makes it possible to play any kind of game one wants, whenever one wants...
I now donot need several saves, from different characters anymore, i can now use the character i want to play any game i want..

This is the best improvement i could ask for.
These options were not simply available for me, as i did not know of the existance of a manager like MOM, before MOM.

Very stable indeed..

Thanks for bringing ROM up in this. Someone is working on ROM right now. Perhaps a request in that thread to make Alternate Beginnings work with ROM is in order.

I just tried Skip Tutorial v 3, but that gives me a 1000GP, but no equipment, as a mortar & pestle...
What was the name (prefereble the url) of the Mod that gives all things to find in the dungeon?

With this one you just walk out of the prison, with prisonclothes on...

What is ROM besides readonly memory?

ROM is Revised Oblivion Mod. Pretty nice 'overhaul'. The best skip tutorial mod that gives you pretty much everything from the tutorial dungeon is the original skip tutorial mod but I do not know where to find it anymore.

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1947. Back in the days it used to be the very first mod I've installed.

The one I used was actually called skip tutorial and has skip tutorial.esp and it was one of my first mods too :) . The one you link looks like it does the same thing. Thanks for the link, I will add this to my archive also. Very handy.

Erm, sorry, no offense intended, just messing around.

As for the quickstart mod, it will bring your character right in front of the sewers gate, where you'll find a chest with all the stuff scattered around the dungeon. The only known glitch with that mod is that you'll have a chance to encounter one of the Emperor assassins wandering around the city isle.. not much of an issue, just beat the crap out of him.

No offense was taken,
enjoyed my mom, during her life, knowing that she could die every day,
as anybody else, so i was ready every day..

I did not have the time to play it yet,
as MOM took more time than expected, due to some 'strange glitches' which forced me to move some images to another drive...
Thanks for the tip.

Also i was involved in 'repacking' archives that showed conflicts in WB.
I am beginning to learn the workings of BAIN, and understand now why BAIN has to be used if possible.
What i can do here with WB, is impossible with OBMM.
Using both, suits me just fine...

If i only understood that Bashed Patch better, when i build one, the game won't start.
But i'll find out when i don't have the choice to leave it out... i am reaching the hard cap very soon..

If you are having problems with MOM then please post in the RELz thread where we can help you, posting in other threads won't help you and will confuse others :)

If game does nt start with bash it may be some known issues in some of the imports (if you use FCOM and.or one of the weathe rmods, I think enhanced weather). Are you using any of those?

I use AN now, and repacked Natural environments without Max teals weather esp's. But since last week i did not build a patch anymore....
For FCOM i did not create a patch, as it is vey buggy: Dead animals have an intense green colour, i miss meshes (yellow stars) and argonians are bright green also, total, clothes and all..

FCOM requires a patch or it won't work properly, so that's going to need to get fixed.
