[RELz] Alton, Illinois

Post » Fri Nov 18, 2011 8:10 pm

That's why I can't wait to release it- FO3 modding has pretty much dried up. Hopefully this will either inspire other people to start it back up again, or serve as another world to host new mods in. ;)

Yeah but don't rush too much in order to finish otherwise you'll be stuck with it longer to fix bugs or other issues :P

Four new images up on http://www.elijahhouck.com/emh/blog/?p=426 This is part of a week-long reveal of the three major cities of Alton. The blog will also have one image that you won't find on the Nexus Imageshare, so stay glued to my blog for more updates and information.

Nice new screenshots, especially the GECK lab and storage.

Heh, Alton is fairly bug-free at the moment, luckily, thanks to a great team of beta testers that have helped me in my bug-squashing effort. :)

It's getting moved to a new host and should hopefully be back up within the next few days. It's kind of a crappy time for it to happen because of the city reveal, but it's only temporary. ;)

Part two of the city reveal is here, with four new images of New Godfrey up on http://elijahhouck.com/blog/?p=437 This is part of a week-long reveal of the three major cities of Alton. The blog will also have one image that you won't find on the Nexus Imageshare, so stay glued to my blog for more updates and information.

Also, any old links to my blog may not work. The blog was moved to a new host, and the blog is now simply at ElijahHouck.com/blog, instead of ElijahHouck/emh/blog.

Hahaha, thanks!
If I have enough time between this and my Skyrim project, I'll be doing a St. Louis mod, since Alton's across the river from it. You can get your MO fix then. :P

Hey, thanks man. Always wanted to snipe from the arch. Or have some raider batting practice at Busch Stadium. A zoo safari. Let's not forget the beer potential of the brewerys. Maybe even a Pitt like faction trying to distribute more beer across the wasteland.

Hey Elijah, did you ever manage to get the main world space LOD generated? I tried with a few other, smaller worldspaces, and my computer was hanging with sizes even half of what your world space is.

Unfortunately, no. I've tried just about everything, and haven't managed to get it generated. :(

You should make yourself as a charcter in the mod.

I'm not a character in the mod, but the final quest might have you visit a place very much related to me... ;)

And if you have a bit more spare time, maybe we'll even see a Chicago mod. With gangsters. FO3 style. Maybe throw in a quest to liberate the Sears Tower from Don Willits and the Shuffle-board Gang.

Yeah, we're still a bit bitter around here :P

Hehe, sorry, but doesn't sound likely. The St. Louis mod would simply be a smallish expansion for Alton, unlike a full-scale Chicago mod would be. :P
As it is, it doesn't sound too likely that St. Louis will happen. Skyrim is fast approaching, and we've already began work on story setup and conceptual stuff.

Again, sorry to dash your hopes!

Hey, I've been keeping track of this mod for a little while now and I was just curious at what the mods current status is?

"Skyrim is fast approaching, and we've already began work on story setup and conceptual stuff." Looking forward to some Skyrim content ha!

Mod is looking great, can't wait.

I'm finally almost done with the mod. I've almost finished the main quest, and after that, it's a few very simple side quests to script (i.e. "kill him", "find this", etc.), and I've already started most of them. So you can hopefully look forward to a release very soon! ;)

Also, more good news- it looks like LOD may actually make it into the final product. The GECK usually has trouble with generating for large worldspaces, but Schallwert and OnmyojiOmn, both members here, came up with a great idea on how to get it working. Meshes generated fine, now I've just got to get the textures working and we're good to go!

And for those of you who aren't familiar with LOD, it's the difference between seeing only a few cells in front of you vs. seeing a vast, epic landscape stretching into the distance. ;)

I understand completely, thus the reason I ended up just creating a sunken city underground rather than make it above ground. Couldnt get the LOD to generate - and it really takes away the feel of epicness when you can't see as far as you should be able yaknow. Looking good tho and can't wait for the release ;)

Ya got skills bro :P

Textures generated, epicness achieved. Now onto objects, which will bring even more epicness. :D

This is one of the mods I plan to re-install FO3 on my new computer so I can play. I truly truly hope you finish it :)

The LOD looks very good! I am really excited for this mod, will defiantly have to pop FO3 in for another run when you release it.
