Hi,

Alvor had died from an earlier attack by a dragon.

It was too late to reload an earlier save.

Is there a console command to respawn him?

I understand a future quest needs him alive.

Over here you can see his BaseID (BaseID is used for placeatme not Ref ID): http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Alvor

So then open console and type: player.placeatme (enter)

for this guy it would be player.placeatme 13475

i had to figure this out and use this after a npc i needed to talk to died from a dragon attack and his corpse got some how slid down / pushed inside of an object and i couldn't target it with the console open, so.. this command fixed that for me, respawned and placed beside me both at the same time.

Open the console and click on him and type "resurrect" without quotes, but remember to click on him while his dead and take every item in his inventory before you use the resurrect command because his inventory will be reseted.

that works great, IF his corpse is still there, but if it's not, (or you can't get to it) one has to use placeatme
