Seal-like creatures could be a cool water based enemy. You could lure them onto the land if you dont fancy water combat, where they would lose mobility.

Walrus, seals, whales, sea serpents
Lots of large aquatic creatures that fit Skyrim
I hope to see some of them although the seal clubbing quest might annoy PETA

While it would be great to add more detail to under water enviroments, the only practical use for undwarter battles is for Argonians, who can breath underwater. In oblivion, I spent 99.9% of the game on land.

Actually, all races could easily breathe underwater. You just had to kill 12 slaughterfish first. Besides, maybe the reason why you spent 99,9% of your time above water was because there was no underwater action and the only underwater monsters you ever met were Mudcrabs and Slaughterfish?

I think it Skyrim could possibly be a great game in which to reintroduce underwater Dreugh and the Lamia of Daggerfall.

I voted no. I don`t have anything against underwater fights but Skyrim is a cold place. You`d only expect smaller fish to be there. And maybe a whale.

Or maybe a shark? Don`t sharks like warm water? Also didn`t M`aiq say something about sharks in TES III: Morrowind?

Some sharks, like the Greenland Shark, which can reach up to twenty feet in length and eats seals and the like, live in extremely cold northern waters. Killer Whales also frequent these frigid waters.

And, as someone mentioned, this being Elder Scrolls, there may be other sea monsters in the North.

My question is, what the hell are spiders doing that far in the cold North>? What nonesense! A seperate thread will be made about it.

Sure, why not? In Beowulf he fought two giant sea serpents. I think norse mythological creatures would fit well. Though Beowulf isn't a norse story, it's in that setting.

I'd like the return of the Dreugr. And a Large aquatic monster would be quite epic.

Underwater caves/sea creatures/environments is my #1 wish for Skyrim. Kraken, levathians, narwhal, Lamia, and whatever else they can think of to fit in the ES universe.

Lamia(The Mermaids of Tamriel) would actually be very interesting to see. Hypothetical quest: A woman asks your help in finding her husband, who is a fisherman. You ask around and find one of his friends(Preferably an Orc, drinking the problem away in a bar) who narrowly escaped after Lamia attacked them. He proceeds to inform you about where their lair/shoreline cave is rumored to be. You will need a protective enchantment to keep you from falling under their spell.

Angler fish at the deepest depths would be cool too, though they do live thousands of feet down in real life...

No wait I have it, I would love to see some of these in the dark watery depths in Skyrim! :bolt:

Meet the adorable Goliath Tiger Fish! (You would love to get one for your fish tank wouldn't you?!)

http://www.theaustralian.com.au/travel/world/mystical-goliath-tiger-fish-caught-on-camera/story-fn302659-1225941552399

Can you imagine swimming along happily and seeing a pack of those swimming at you at speed? :o I am thinking a sword or axe wouldn't be enough, would certainly test out how fast you can swim in the opposite direction? !! Would love to see some scarier encounters at least or some mystical creatures at least something unexpected that makes going for a dive worthwhile!

Not too many, as the the only type of character that can be effective in an underwater battle is a melee fighter.

Would be awesome apart from the occasional slaughterfish/mudcrab encounter. Or super amazing better than Michael Phelps swimmer/swordfighting while underwater Bandit

I think water should be more fearsome. In oblivion if I wanted to escape the guards or an enemy I would just go into a large body of water and I would be fine and able to escape.

I would like some sort of creature like crocodiles, sea dragon/serpent or something like http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Sando_aqua_monster

Yes! This is what I said! This is what I always say!

What I keep saying...

I've posted this on other 'sea monsters' threads but it always stands out as the best underwater battle I've ever had in any videogame.

Admittedly, I doubt Skyrim could implement anything as massive and engaging but hopefully there will be creatures of surmountable size lurking in the Sea of Ghosts.

See?

Perhaps a giant water dragon battle fight somewhere in the main quest? if not a dragon im atleast thinking it would be cool if they had a leviathan in the game. I would get bored killing sharks and stuff, but an ancient sea monster such as a leviathan or a sea serpent(lake serpent in this game) would be scary/fun to fight.

Guys we don't need water dragons.
Ordinary dragons are supposed to be able to live in water too (in same manner as aquatic mammals and reptiles)
Breathing fire is out of question, but clawing and biting to death is still possible.

Lamias should be encountered also in flooded caves, but in flooded ruins- water/ice antronachs
Also weresharks also should be present if werecreatures will be in.

Yes I'd love sea monsters. I think some of them should be unkillable too. After all you are not at home in the water.
While swimming in deep dark places I want to feel completely useless without any hope. I want to fear these creatures. And not that they would become just something to fight.
You shouldn't be able to swing your weapons under water anyway.
You'd have to escape them with wit or skill, or both.

Example from the top of my mind, throw some meat to the other side of the lake and swim for the other side like hell. (Slightly inspired by Amnesia: The Dark Descent.)
