I always hated when NPCs said this...

Post » Fri Aug 26, 2011 3:18 pm

Well you don't know what tone he said it in, he could of said it in a friendly manner.

Good point, just add one word and it would have been a little less mean

"I don't have time for you, friend"

There's a civil war going on. Nords are the dominant race. The journalist was playing a Bosmer. The player is a stranger in the beginning of the game. :whistling:

Are the Bosmer still midget size?

Protip:

If you equip yourself with Ordinator armour and then talk to them in Vivec, their disposition will get boosted and they will be more polite.

Try it. Really.

I always hated that if I even look at an item that isn't my character's, and would be stolen if I picked it up, the NPCs go "I see you eyeing that." and other stuff.

Like, damnit, I'm not gonna steal it. I was just looking at it.

At least it's better than "I'm watching you, scum!"

Agreed :sadvaultboy: but they added to the atmosphere =) this isnt a happy go lucky world after all~ where everything is rainbows and buttercups

http://www.ripten.com/2011/08/25/one-hour-with-skyrim-finally-made-me-a-true-believer-hands-on/4/

Read the part when a guard rides right by him. He says something like, " I don't time for you stranger".
UGGGH!!! I hate that! Although i know it has been better than "stop wasting my time", it's so rude and annoying. And almost all NPCs eventually said that in MW/OB.
:(

Easily fixed. Simply pick up a carrot, cup, etc. that belongs to someone else and every guard within 1000 miles will have nothing but time for you.....haha.

I never liked how every person you passed by had to acknowledge you. I also hate when youre listening to 2 people talk, then they both notice you and talk at the same time, its a garbled mess.

"We're watching you...sssssssssssssssssssssssssscum!"

Loved that from Morrowind

"Speak quickly or go away Outlander!" :P

NPC rudeness is always welcome. In oblivion, I would always be greeted with "How fare thee friend?".

It depends on your personality all Morrowind characters told me:"Its been forever since I seen a Dunmer in such a grand outfit"

i never commited a crime in the city of vivec those ordinators just gave off that feel of i can break every bone in your body no trouble.

I did when I had 100 in sneak, but the ordinators were some cold bastards thats why they were my favourite guards. I hope skyrim will have some guards that give you the same feeling of awe, fear etc.

I think the fact that he says he doesn't have time for you adds a little bit of realism, I know by experience that most people won't talk to strangers.

Heh, when someone is upset enough to start a thread about rude NPC's, it really makes me wonder how one deals with such situations in real life....

I would not murder him for that, but remember all those non-beast race women in Leyawiin... ask RUMOR and then prepare to stab them in the name of the Renrijra Krin... I hope I don't have to do that again

They only say that if your disposition with them is low. AKA, you've pissed them off somehow.

Or they could say nothing at all, like in real life...

Nobody says "I don't got'st time for you." as you walk by...

I want THIS. I also hate how when you walk by anyine they stare at you and say something. Really?
Not that many thigs bothered me in Oblivion except immersion/realism breaking thins like that.

Maybe it's part of their culture that they have to spend their day telling everyone how busy they are: "I don't have time for you, stranger, I have to go over there and tell that stranger that I don't have time for him, because there's a stranger past him that I especially don't have time for, and I'm going to go tell him that to his face."
