[wip] Amanita

Post » Mon Jun 28, 2010 1:11 pm

Is anyone interested in making some shroom Pod interiors?

This mod is largely based around the three groups of races, i.e. Elves, humans and beast races (mainly Argonians) and will have huge amounts of quests and things to do. For example, 3 main quests depending on your race, lots of misc quests. A few unique items. And all kinds of other cool jazz.

But I have loads of Telvanni interiors to do at the minute and it's really getting to me :P

So if anyone wants to donate or work on some of my existing ones please let me know, either PM me or let yourself be known here :)

I could help you on this mod, if you need a hand. Note that I can't really script much, but I can write Dialogues, add NPC's, create cells. You know, the easy stuff.

I don't understand why this mod doesn't have more general attention! It looks fantastic. :)

Thanks for the offer :)
At the minute the quests are already being worked on. So scripting, dialogue, NPC's and cells are not what we need right now unfortunately :P

:D That's good to hear. I've been working on and off on this mod for a few years now. Never really got round to getting a team together to finish it off until recently.

And for those who have missed me saying this.

The mod is supposed to be fitting to vanilla Morrowind. 99% of textures used on new models are vanilla textures so its texture re-placer friendly. The Island fits in nicely with the Morrowind mainland being worked on by TR (as if i need to state who's working on it :P)
It will have LOADS of quests. So when this is finally released and im 100% happy with it, you should have lot's of playing time :)

Oh and some unique armor :whisper:

hmm i am a little lost - What exactly is the storyline?

apart from that the video looks great and the screenshots look promising!

Hi Midget. I'm writing the quests for Amanita.

The story behind the island, which is called Ashnaar is that it was populated 100 years ago by the telvannis, who founded the city Tel Kariba. It wasn't an important settlement to the telvannis, but they would ike to claim the island.
Much later the impeials arrived to the island searching for minerals which they found, so they build the city Rockhold and started mining. The telvannis saw the mine and realised, that there was minerals to mine and they built their own mine.
Now a fierce compatition between the two settlements started, and the telvannis are doing everything they can to drive the imperials out, which is part of the plot.
On the island there is also a third city, Amanita, which is an underground city populated by araonians. The city is very secret, ad when you arrive to Ashnaar the city is not known, but later on, the mines will reach the city and the aragonians will be involved.

As already mentioned, there will be three mainquests depending on the character:
elves and members of house telvannis will play the telvanni questline.
Humans will play the imperial questline.
Aragonians and Khajitts will play the aragonian questline.

So far I have only started on the imperial questline, where the planned quests so far includes:
finding a missing ship with supplies
rescue kidnapped imperial miners and scientists
Getting the outcast camp on the island to support Rockhold
finding the notes of an ancient archeologist, who explored the island

A whole questline about a group of Rockhold citizens trying to sabotage Rockhold by stealing ore, unleashing rats and and kagutis in rockhold, blowing up the mine. It will also include an underground kagutifarm.
This questline is only a sketch.

There will also be the part after you have found the underground city Amanita, but besides a prison escpe, nothing has been planed there so far.
I'm aiming for the questline to take at least 20 hours to complete.

I'm trying to make the quests complex and diverse. There will be a lot of underground areas. So far there is not a ot of fighting involved, but I think there will be eventually.
I'm trying to make the questlines, so the recommanded level is lvl10, so it should be doable by a skilled lvl10 player.

That's what I can tell about the quests so far.

Though Orcs are mer, they should not be grouped in with them. The empire (or any elves for that matter) didn't even recognize them as fully sentient until recently. I suppose it depends on the exact context, but they are usually more likely to be lumped in with the beast races, then maybe the humans. NOT the elves.

When grouping the races I thought a lot about the orcs. They ended up being grouped with the three other elves races, because they descent from elves themselves, but I wasn't too satisfied with that either, since the other three elven races are quite sofisticated (but then again nords are grouped with Bretons and imperials).
The human races are generally known as the imperials, since their settlement was founded by factions outside Vvardenfall, where I don't think orcs would be highly regarded.
I wouldn't group them with the beasts either, since they in Vvardenfall are often working as slavers, and one thing which separates the beast races from the other races is that they are used as slaves in Vvardenfall and therefore sees the city Amanita as a safe haven.

I have ended up with the orcs belonging to the elves races but being treated as interior by the rest of the elves races, which I have already used for a few questideas.

super thrilled i stumbled upon this jewel! and i will def be watching and waiting.. can't see some of those screenshots, (saying pic has been moved or deleted.. maybe outdated?) but the video shows impressive work, and as most above has said, an acute attention to detail.
thanks!

I think it may be because i renamed the folder that you can't see the images. So, just for you, some outdated pictures :P
http://s319.photobucket.com/albums/mm449/DDevilMonkey_666/Amanita/

Quite a few changes since most of those screenshots were taken, and the Imperial city needs alot of detailing, gonna move the houses around a bit at some point to give the city a much busier feeling too, and there are still quite alot of imperial homes to add.

And im glad you like what you see so far

Oops. Didn't notice your question here Guitar Joe

The mod is coming along nicely. Mainly focusing on getting interiors decorated, adding interiors that are still needed. So far there are 372 cells to decorate (including exteriors)

The mod will include new exterior house models for the imperials and Telvanni, lots of new meshes, some unique weaponry, at least 3 unique sets of armor, and 3 lengthy main quests. Got quite a few statics to make for the underground city, still working out the look and feel of the city. Eventually it will use no vanilla meshes. So the whole city will be completely unique.

At the minute we have a 3 man strong team. There's me on interiors/exteriors/modelling, Zarnatheron is doing a great job writing and planning and implementing quests, plus the odd script or two :), and then there's my yankey doodle slave Dagoth Jeff doing an excellent job really filling out interiors.

Will post some screen shots soon

Keep your eyes peeled

Thats cool, it is very close to the TR Telvanni island,, and you get a choice of working with the Telvanni or imperials, or the beast races

http://i319.photobucket.com/albums/mm449/DDevilMonkey_666/render007.jpg is the first finished piece.

Only problem with it is when i put it in game on an imperial, it looks like a basketball, It just stretches really wide

:) Glad you like.

I may be replacing those vanilla style shacks with completely new ones. Or continue to heavily edit the vanilla meshes. Either way, i will be making a new tileset for this particular city. Which is what im working on getting the look and feel right now, but hopefully, it should turn out pretty crazy looking. (In a good way)

Keep your eyes peeled

Alot of the stuff in those screens are tidied up versions of the areas ive already had for a long while.

Most of the work ive done has been in the caverns and undergound places, as you see in the Hmm.. picture :)

Still got loads of work to do on the exterior, but its shaping up nicely
