(Amazing) Discovery

Hey hey hey! I don't know if this has been noticed before -- I certainly haven't seen anybody mention it -- but there seems to be evidence suggesting that you can let some of your equipment, apart from what you currently have equipped, be shown on your body.

http://img265.imageshack.us/img265/3255/zombienords.png

There's a guy behind the bearded draugr with the cool axe. He too has an axe, in his right hand (on the left), but it would seem that he also has a bow, which he isn't holding in his left hand. His left hand is obviously empty. So what is the bow hanging from? If there isn't a fifth draugr in the picture, the bow must be hanging from either a string from the ceiling, on his chest, or more likely - on his back!

Of course it could be just some crazy draugr ornament or a bow that accidentally stuck in his stomach one time, but I seriously doubt that.

Doesn't this seem like clear evidence that we can have visible equipment on our bodies? Has anyone else noticed this -- I certainly didn't before now :P

already been confirmed, I think.

Where? When? By whom? :D

edit: I know there's several concept artworks that suggest it, but I didn't know it had been confirmed to be in the actual game (???)

"15. It seems that, when in third person, you’ll be able to see all the equipment that he’s having. In exact words, it says: "Great news for everyone who likes to see our adventurer and especially all the cool equipment he's wearing."
I’m not sure if this means that if you have an extra sword, you’ll see that on your body while having another one in your hand. It can be left for speculation."

It has been speculated from a different example in the Swedish Gamereactor thread.

What you mention is very possible.

This means we might be limited in the number of weapons we can carry. I mean, besides encumbrance...

I guess I wouldnt mind, as long as its more than just 2 or 3, because I want to pick up loot too.

Even though I dont care about the graphics, I must admit these newer screens look amazing, like the one in the tavern.

I like where this speculation is going. I always thought it would be right for a warrior to have a bow and a sword! Good news this morning :) Thanks for sharing

Thought this was confirmed with the first screenshot of a nord holding an axe in his right hand and his shield was still on his back.

I don't know that the existence of non-equipped items on an enemy character model is actually proof.
You can do many things as a designer that you might not allow players to do.
However, the idea of having two main weapons equipped at one time, where one would show as being held and the other stored, is intriguing and certainly possible.
Especially if they decided to include something like a quick switch that isn't linked to the wheel of the first game for consoles.
Or perhaps, if you have a weapon hotkeyed, it will show up on your body.
Who knows, I haven't heard anything about it, though I admit it isn't something I've been on the lookout for.

Ability to "fast-shift" between a few of your weapons? Maybe some weapons are more effictive against surtain enemies? After all they claimed that combat should be a lot more stratigic.

Maybe you can have more than one weapon equipped so that you can swap between them quickly.

I'm just hoping that we will only see the items that are hotkeyed to the quick menu. It would be just crazy stupid if we could see 10 daggers and 5 claymores hanging off every piece of clothing while I'm trekking back from a quest to sell my loot.

That part's in the Norwegian GR too -- it says "good new for those of us who think it's nice to see the whole of your armor and adornment in all its glory." ... nothing about weapons -- unless you count weapons as adornment / ornamentation.

Wow... my hands are shaking... either I'm really excited, or I haven't eaten enough lately. :P

Sounds good, being able to have your shield on your back sort of makes me want to play as a shield-using character. Maybe assassin characters can now have an assortment of daggers and poisons shown on him.

Is this dynamic according to the armour you're wearing, or is it independent from armours?

I don't see that happening. Most likely only a few of your weapons will be shown on your body. Perhaps only weapons you choose to be shown.

There's a screenshot of that? It's not the concept art with the nord with his back to us, facing a dead mammoth and a bear?

my guess is since we can now place shields on back now they have placed a slot on the back that has been labeled shield/secondary weapon. im guessing that you'll be able to place shield, off hand, and a secondary quick swap weapon in this slot.

So what is the bow hanging from? If there isn't a fifth draugr in the picture, the bow must be hanging from either a string from the ceiling, on his chest, or more likely - on his back!

Check out the right shoulder of the front-most dragur (http://www.flickr.com/photos/47857688@N08/5436395760/sizes/o/in/set-72157626024834946/ the official high-res screen). It's definitely a shortbow being worn on the back by him.

As Peaceful Shogun and Cratemasher have already noted, the European magazines seem to confirm a "show" slot for the alt weapon. Very cool...

Yeah it's crossed my mind.

From what I've seen of the screen shots(with weapons being carried on the person) I've deduced that we may have two swappable equip slots for each hand.

Well I sure hope so, I'd instantly put my healing potion, my poison, my repair hammer, my shield and sword all in "holster" mode, not having to wield the shield but putting it on the back. My coin bag would be seen. I can only dream..

Only if you can be pick-pocketed by NPC's. :deal:

Aweeeesome!. hope it is so. they should make it like the first 3 weapons you put in the (Key Mapping or what you call it) but the first 3 weps should be the ones that shows up so maybe an axe on the right side of the waist, a sword in the left side, and maybe a bow on the back. The shield that are equiped should also be placed on the back.

But he also said that you can have an unlimited amount of favorites and that they will be sorted alphabetically or something.... I believe. So it couldn't be the favorites that are visible -- that would just be ridiculous. You'd always have your Aarondale Longsword and Aese's Towershield on, whether you wished to or not? .... I think that if it's in, they're gonna let you choose yourself what you want visible. :)
