Amazon Reviews for PC Disk Version.

Someone absolutely needs to do this. If more supported it, more would follow. It really just needs that push. But, then you're have threads made about people being forced to buy BluRay drives to play their game also. Publishers won't win anyone's hearts with this. But I agree, it is time for a big change

Because computers today dont come with optical drives, people hated them because their physical media which means antiquated. Customers demanded they be removed and won, now many new computers, more and more are being made without optical drives because their not modern.

So PC users have evolved past that but can't get decent ISPs with better speed and bigger data caps? Dug yourselves into some kinda hole there huh?

Think most pc users like console users have 150mb blast internet which is why there was such a huge demand for the removal of optical drives.

So how hard is it to put an elaborate looking USB key in with the Pip-boy edition?

Looking at some of the posts on here, it seems there's a lot of people with extremely low and very capped data. I saw something like it took 40+ hours for someone to download the 28gb and they went over their 35gb limit because they were mid month? I'd wonder what the average household actually has. I'd think it greatly exceeds that

Someone said the Win10 usb edition costs $25 more than the digital. People would RIOT if it cost them more money for the USB over their disk counterparts

Its been like that with all Steam titles. But I'm sure there was options to install from disk for other titles.

Wait people have an internet data allowance on a computer? I have heard of it for phones but never computers. I would suggest getting an unlimited one. It can be as cheap as $20 a month if you know where to look.

Sure if you live in a metropolitan area. Not everyone in the world has access to unlimited and fast internet. In fact most people in the world do not.

I've had it in the country in Texas... I didn't know. Thanks I was just curious. I never knew it existed I figured most was unlimited for a set fee and speed increase was extra.

This. It was well known before launch that a significant amount of content would need to be downloaded.

That said, more should have been on the disk though.

Could have been as easy as someone looking in the package, seeing one DVD and realizing the rest would be downloaded.

[censored]! I have been waiting for this game for ages. I have followed the news. I read the product description. Do you expect Bethesda customers to listen in on board meetings and developer conferences to make sure that they have all the pertinent information about how the game is going to be distributed.

Bethesda sells a game disk. That is supposed to be a complete game that is on a medium that allows full installation of said game onto a computer without downloading anything except for patches.

It was NOT well known, it was not in the product description and it does not say anything on the damn box about having to download the f'n game. Why would anyone knowingly buy a hard copy of any software when the software is not on the f'n hard copy?! Really, what is the point of selling an empty disk???

Steam titles are more expensive than physical copies because they cost more and are more expensive to make since steam has to host the content.

But, it was really well known news and available on nearly any gaming site. Sorry you didn't see it man. I don't even PC game and I felt like I saw enough of it.

To be fair, it wasn't nearly an empty disk right? I mean compared to the 8.75mb on MGSV

[censored]! Nowhere on the box does it even suggest that it is not the complete product. What are we supposed to do? Hold it up and guess the weight and thereby determine that there is only a single disk in the box and therefor there is no way the complete game is in there and then surmise that we will need to download the whole game?

Yes it was nearly empty! 5GB I am now downloading 24GB.

If it is not on the box, if it is not in the product description, it is then not disclosed information. We as customers should not have to hunt and peck the internet just to gleen such basic information.

Wingover is right.
I knew about it because I was HERE for the pre-release fun and info. Same as when Skyrim was in pre-release.

But if I didn't know about it from here and bought it at Walmart because it looked interesting I'd be a very unhappy person.

It should be very clearly stated wherever FO4 is sold exactly what is involved in actually being able to install the game.

Rationalize this if you want, but this is SERIOUSLY misleading.
And just wrong.
Period.

Considering that the pc boxed version only had 1 DVD and the game is at least 30GB in size, common sense would tell most people that the biggest portion of the game is downloaded.

Optical drives in pc's are disappearing fast and optical media as a whole is a dying rapidly in favour of DD or USB installs (for OS's anyway), in fact most new pcs and laptops don't come with a DVD drive at all and some don't even have the internal bays to add one.

Bethesda AFAIK doesn't do multi-disc games, yes Bethesda goty games have 2 discs but the 2nd disc is always a one-time install and forget.

The download requirement for the physical pc version was publicly announced by Pete Hines at least a month before release, the fact that you didn't do your research before buying the game is not the fault of Bethesda.

I agreed with the OP. I canceled my pre-order with Amazon for physical copy only because I found out about the 1 DVD and download requirements from reading various gaming news sites and this forum. The additional download information came from a tweet by Pete Hines. When I first placed the order, nothing on the product description mentioned that information. It only said that you need Steam to activate.

If it is not on the box or in the product description then it has not been disclosed.

I don't know any Pete Hines.

It'd the way things are not going to change the digital downloads your better off getting a ton of pissed off customers of that crappy internet service you got & demand they change their policies because the game manufactures & merchants certainly are not going to change theirs
