As im crushing my was through Dunroot burrow i realized , i have not found one amber matrix in a very long time....like a year of playing...what gives???? Any special place i should be looking , i know they pop up in different places at different times but damn.... ive been through every root system there is and its really becoming a pain in the neck! any suggestions would be great...thnx

Keep looking. They are definitely out there. I have three each of every amber and madness matrix in my house in Skingrad. I just use the arrow matrices myself. Too bad I can't email you one! Just keep hitting those holes in the ground, pretty soon you will be swimming in them, and I haven't re-entered any lairs at all in the SI... yet, ... though I don't know if matrices respawn.

It's an item from SI that allows you to forge amber items. I don't remember if it was necessary or it adds some benefits like enchantings.

Not necessary, just adds enchantment effects. I prefer to have items forged without, then throw on chosen effects from Sigil Stones myself. YMMV.

In the vanilla game they do not, and since they only have about a 10% chance to spawn in the appropriate containers it can be a real pain trying to acquire them. This also applies to Madness Matrices.

As a result, I ended up editing the loot lists to increase the number of containers the things can spawn in as well as setting said containers to respawn.

The enchantments they provide are not all that good, although they do increase the value of the item significantly so I usually save up the Amber or Madness Ore and whenever I do find a matrix I make an enchanted item to sell.

While amber matrices are harder to find, you can actually find madness matrices on grummites. Or at least, I have.

Heh, I forgot about those. Then again, the chance a Grummite will have one is pretty low, so unless the RNG is feeling generous there won't be many gotten that way without a lot of tries. It is a renewable source of them though.

Are you sure about them not respawning? I've gotten all mine from two places, the very first grummite lair you come across right after entering SI and a Root Lair, though for the life of me I can't remember the names. They don't technically "respawn" but they do have a percentage chance of appearing in containers.

I'm not trying to be picky here as it bugs me to no end.... but.... I'm fairly certain its matrix's.

i think its , matricies , but i could be wrong... now as far as amber goes , the matricies are a pain in the rectum to find , madness ones are easy to find.... i only want the amber ones so i can build a whole suit to display at my castle.... i usually do enchant my own armor with magic or sigil stones. but i guess the search continues........

It's matrices. Matrix's implies a possessive, which a matrix cannot do as it is an object.

Yup it's matrices when talking about more than one matrix. I also fired up Oblivion for the first time in months just so I could get the names of the place I was finding the matrices. Xeddefen (full of grummites) the first dungeon you come across in SI and Blackroot Lair/Knotty Bramble. Xeddefen yields far more madness matrices than Blackroot Lair and Knotty Bramble yield amber matrices.

I'm still farming up some Madness matrices myself, to fill up my time since I have already beaten absolutely everything. (Does anyone have some kind of "crap to do at the end" guide?)

Even though I got three of them in my first run, the rest are not so common. It takes some effort and a lot of 3-day-waiting.

The apostrophe like that on "matrix's" implies ownership to the or a matrix. "Matrixes" is also incorrect and shows up as a spelling error in spellcheckers. Plural for matrix is matrices.
