ambient creatures

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 4:24 am

I'm sick of reading the same questions and thoughts over and over again so here is a pointless question that will have zero effect on whether or not I buy this game or effect how much I will enjoy playing the game.

Can you kill the ambient creatures in the game?

I noticed on the "Ready and Able" video at 1:05 you see a seagull flying overhead. Do you think you will be able to shoot them out of the sky or will they be invincible? (also a waste of time and ammo) Also I wonder what other ambient creatures will be in the game... maybe rats

My guess would be invincible. Less coding for something that isn't really a big deal in the game. The addition is nice and adds depth though.

It'd be fun, though. Walk through an abandoned alley and there's dead crows everywhere. It'll scare most people enough that they'll look everywhere in case of an ambush, and you're far away laughing your rear end off at the one idiot looking in every direction.

I agree. I like the addition of ambient creatures is always nice in a game. It draws you that much more into the game while playing.

And if you can kill them, can a medic revive them?

And does the medic get XP for that?

And does that allow XP farming?

Yes. But you need a medic ability called Vet.

But for real, I don't think you can kill those animals.

One of levels of the Ark is an aquarium...

Could we get damage/kill/healing/revive XP off of fish in the aquarium? If so, would that be fish farming?

it would be hilarious if you were an operative, came around the corner and saw some idiot shooting at the birds/fishies

PETA would be all over Splash damage
"How'd you get such realistic dying doggie sounds?!"

Same way they did with the guns!

And to add to what I said, adding animals like birds and cats in the single player to add to the experience would be interesting.
I'm not completely against the idea.

I like the idea of being able to shoot them, since A: it's more realistic, and B: great way to farm XP by shooting people who are shooting the birds/rats :)

I think if you shoot the animal it would be a complete waste of tiem and ammo and you would be a very easy target for other players. Now if this was in the game i think that you should be able to kill the animals but nor revive the or anything. their just dead and the Seagulls fall in the water. :gun: :turtle: :spotted owl: :cheat:

Mommy said not to hurt the animals anymore....

And the real question is...can i blow up said animals or light them on fire? I want to set a bunny on fire and throw it across the battlefield, everyone will stare at it in a giant WTF moment and i shall mow them down with my weapon of mass destruction, aka my fist.

EDIT: I didn't mean you Bunny-gypsy, you know i wouldnt light you on fire

I meant I'm for the idea of having ambient creatures in single player, but farming animals just sounds backwards in theory.
Really? Farming? No, not in my FPS.

I'd like to be able to lob a grenade in a tank and all the fish die.

Maybe they respawn when no one's looking, so it's an endless easter egg.

You can only revive the animals if they're incapacitated.

Hopefully there are more wild animals than in Reach. Mice, emu bird things, and really big ogre. An entire planet with three animals

Please do not encourage the concept of Invincible Seagulls.....

As a Floridian, I'd say they're already enough of a nuisance.

As another Floridian I second this notion, dang gulls are annoying as is, last thing we need is them just mocking us while we shoot at them with a minigun and fail to kill them.

You know what would be epic. If you attacked the animals and they attacked back like the chickens in Zelda. Also the Sharks should definately have laser beam on their backs.

Oh god, I can just imagine it..... All player actions would freeze for a second, there'd be an echoing seagull cry, and then a huge cluster of 'em would mob individual players until they're dead!
It's horrible! D:
