The Empire of the Bull, Caesar's Legion - One Year Timeline
1st month: Caesar, angered by the NCR Admiral, sends Frumentarii westward to keep an eye out for NCR troops or scouts, and to the border with Vegas, in case they were foolish enough to aid them.
Peace is made between the Empire and the Midwest, by a cessation of hostilities. The border simmers down.
2nd month: A trade agreement between the Principality of Solus and the Legion is established, with its first items being slaves in exchange for medicine. Upon the medicine's arrival, Caesar begins devising plans for its continued slow introduction into his Empire. Furthermore, he begins a project to increase the potency of healing powders and bitter drink, assigning fledgling scientists to the work.
A railway to between the Legion and Solus begins contruction, Arcturus ordering mass amounts of slaves to its work. It is to be finished by the next council-meeting, and improved upon for a year afterward.
3rd month: Disappointed with his people's aptitude for scientific endeavors, Caesar organizes the formation of the Quaesitor Core. The brightest of the Empire are taken in the night by Frumentarii, broken mentally, and given books of science. They are indoctrinated to covet the knowledge and to reject all else, destroying their humanity to make them walking knowledge-reserves without free-will or thought, to ensure they do not become liabilities. They are set to working on the medicinal field first.
Railway construction continues.
A large shipment of energy weapons is received from America and at the same time, a large shipment of slave is sent in payment. Caesar sees them given only to Centurions and Imperators, establishing the rule that only the highest ranks were to use them. The rest are given to experienced Praetorians, to train in their use and maintenance, and specialize in them enough to instruct others.
4th month: The alliance between the Empire and Whitetower is signed into effect by Caesar and the Grand Inquisitor, during a trip to the lands of the Inquisitory. The two discuss the future of their partnership and the affairs of the world.
The Panama Canol, as Scorch promised, sees revitalization. An expeditionary force lead by Salt-Upon-Wounds is sent to assist in clearing out the Canol's surrounding territory and architectural personnel accompany them to aid in restoring functionality.
5th month: Various projects continue.
6th month: Seeing that conflict with the NCR could arise, and that the world was not filled with just petty raiders, Caesar goes on the warpath. Amassing three legion's worth of men, 15,000 Legionaries, Lanius is given reign and told to conquer and enslave. The Legate pushes northwest, toward the borders of Vegas and is told the land between them must be taken. With this, he brings destruction and ruin to the tribes of the land. He kills the weak, the defiant, and has the rest thrown into chains to be trained as Legionaries or simply for labor. His campaign sees horrible violence, among the highest ever.
Mining efforts throughout the Empire increase, as the demand for armor and blades rises.
Caesar and Lucius travel to the capital of the Sierra Collective and take part in signing an alliance-pact with the Collective, obligating mutual defense.
7th month: The Day of Games is held, part of the celebrations in honor of Caesar Arcturus' ascension to the throne. After a fierce day of fighting, a Champion is crowned in the Colosseum and given the right to train to become apart of the Legion. The Champion is made a Recruit and forced to work his way through the ranks by merit, which he does as he is sent to Lanius' campaign in the West.
Imperator Sacarius ( Joshua Graham ) is dispatched to Lanius' campaign as well, to serve as Centurion under him. The former Malpais Legate excels in the brutal war Lanius wages on the tribes there.
8th month: Various projects continue.
Another campaign, headed by the newly-appointed Imperator Gaius Magnus, is marched off to secure lands to the east. Magnus shows that he is fit for the title by slaying all that come into his path. He is soon met with staunch resistance by two well-established tribes that begin battles of attrition. The three legions, 15,000 men, bear down on them, utilizing their aptness for taking positions by overrunning the tribes opposed to Caesar.
9th month: As colder seasons loom, Lanius is pressed to finish his conquering and press over the remaining tribes. His advance is halted by an unexpected force. A surprisingly strong tribe called simply, the Brutes, stand in dogged opposition of the Bull's expansion. Their warriors, famed for their physical prowess, tear Legionaries apart in the most literal sense possible. The Brutes stand fast as Lanius begins to send the Prime Legionaries against them, which fare far better than their lesser counterparts.
In the east, under Imperator Magnus, the two tribes are shattered and Magnus displays why he was chosen. He beheads the chieftains of both tribes, along with the other leaders, and lines them along their lands. Their tribes are absorbed into the Legion as fortification-specialists and warriors, to improve the Legion's ability to hold a location.
Parcels are exchanged by the Legion and the Union of the Astral Children. Caesar's Empire receives clothes, seafood, books, and jewelry and sends various foods and animals. The books are instantly taken away, examined thoroughly by the Frumentarii under Vulpes Inculta and each found seditious or dangerous, are incinerated in humongous furnaces. The rest are slowly trickle into the income-bracket of the upper-class.
10th month: Finally, after a month of combat, the Bull's legions overrun the Brutes and crush them. All the warriors not killed in the fighting are enslaved and the rest, dispatched. Lanius continues the march to take the last bit of land, kept warm by the death of a troublesome foe.
Caesar sees a particularly beautiful young woman on the arm of an official responsible for the areas around Two Sun at a gala. When he returns to his palace, he writes a letter to the official ordering him to end his own life. The next morning, the man is found in his home and Caesar begins courting the woman, named Valeria, defying the norm by not simply taking her as a wife.
11th month: After a month, much longer than most cases, Arcturus marries Valeria in one of the most awesome displays of magnificence in his entire reign. Every major city in the Empire is made to gather its citizens for galas and all sort of celebration. In New Rome itself, the city's population is made to chant in unison, wishing for an eternal union, as Caesar and his bride parade down the streets to the Colosseum where Lucius unites them in holy matrimony by the power vested in him by the Emperor himself, in the name of Mars and the First. A ball in the Imperial Palace is held and all upper-class " nobles " are present along with government. Wine is rolled out by the cask, all manner of food is served and so the entire nation celebrates.
Lanius brings the last bits of land under his control and enslaves the last tribe, bringing the number of tribes assimilated or destroyed by the Legion, to a full 100. Three by himself, two by Magnus. He marches his battle-sated Legion back home, across their new lands, leaving half of them to maintain order. More Legionaries are sent from the homeland and eventually, all of the new land is covered by Legionaries. Lanius returns to New Rome with a tribe's worth of brawny, physically astounding slaves. The citizenry celebrates once more and due to the royal wedding days before, the effect is amazing. The Empire once more erupts into days of enjoyment and the Legate is rewarded by Caesar, giving him hold of his conquered lands and many chests of gold.
The identity of the Brutes is destroyed as all are and they are brought into the Legion as Recruits. Seeing that their immense physical strength and size is wasted on normal Legionary training, Caesar forms a new division of the Legion for them. They are called Triarius, or in the case of more than one, Triarii and outfitted with the heavy weapons such as mini-guns and light machine guns. For protection they are given a heavy plate, much more sturdy and resilient than the rest of the Legion, and select few power armor pieces such as helmets and arm-plates. They are made to be the heavy troopers of the Empire, juggernauts on the battlefield and nightmares to the enemies of Caesar.
12th month: The railroad between the Legion and Solus is completed and trade becomes regular.
The second Council is called in Washington D.C. and the Empire attends.
Another campaign, headed by the newly-appointed Imperator Gaius Magnus, is marched off to secure lands to the east. Magnus shows that he is fit for the title by slaying all that come into his path. He is soon met with staunch resistance by two well-established tribes that begin battles of attrition.
