America Council OOC 4

Introduction

War, war never changes.

The North American continent now stands at a crossroads more than 200 years following the Great Atomic War of 2077. Various nations have sprung up in the post-war world and each follow their own creed, ideology and national identity. Some seek power and others seek wealth. While some seek religious enlightenment.

Seventeen years following the events of Fallout: New Vegas, the Principality of Solus made contact with the various peoples of North America, bringing word of a great gathering of people's for the purposes of diplomacy. Thus have begun the America Councils.

From the dazzling neon paradise of New Vegas, to the rebuilt streets of Washington D.C., and from the cold arctic north to the warm tropics of Mexico you will take control of one of these great post-apocalyptic nations and lead them to dominance, or defeat. You will use diplomacy, trade, political intrigue, and military might to further your goals. How you choose to lead your people is up to you, and the fate of North America, and the world, lies in the hands of all.

The following rules have been agreed upon:

1. War is always a possibility, ensure however that you are prepared to face the consequences. When attempting to conquer or wage war with other factions take distance and other geographical factors into consideration; for example, a west coast nation wishing to deploy it's navy to the east coast would have too do so by circumnavigating South America which would obviously have consequences for your plans.

Be advised: there are consequences for attempting to 'bite off more than you can chew.' If you attempt aggressive and unheeded expansion: crisis is sure to follow.

2. Do your best to use proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation, it’s easier to read and understand and makes everything look better; in-addition it’s also hard to take delegates seriously that don’t use it.

3. Your representatives are still characters and individuals, give them personalities, backstories, interests, and feeling.

4. Please inform the rest of us if you intend to leave. The current agreed upon time for leaving without notice is one week. Beyond that, if you do not give a reason for your absence your nation is forfeit and will be dealt with accordingly. Either by someone else taking it up, or (more likely) your people becoming conquered by the opportunism of others.

5. Do not be overpowered, a point which cannot be enunciated any further. What constitutes as over-powered behavior will often be determined in these out-of-character threads and will be discussed accordingly; present your case for your actions as see fit.

Timeline for the Pitt:

Empire of the Pitt Faction Timeline 1

1st Month: Deals from the previous convention are finalized. The Pitt opens trade routes with the Union of the Astral Children, the Midwestern Brotherhood, the Inquisitory of Whitetower, and shipping routes with the Commonwealth. Previously agreed upon goods are exchanged.

The Pitt loads up 3,000 slaves into a large train and sends it northwards to the Inquisitory. On the return trip, the train brings to the Pitt a number of laser pistols and laser rifles. Excited by the new weaponry, Ashur provides the weapons to an elite force within his vast army.

Shipments of marble and stone began heading to the Commonwealth via sea shipments. As agreed, the Commonwealth begins aiding the Pitt in the planning and construction of power plants.

The High Elder of the Midwestern Brotherhood makes a trip to the Pitt, and Ashur affords him luxurious accommodations in his palace of Haven and the Lord of the Pitt introduces the High Elder to his daughter, Marie. The High Elder is given a full tour of the city, especially the power of the Pitt’s industrial mills. The High Elder also attends a large gladiatorial style arena fight held in his honor at the “The Hole” (Heinz Stadium).

2nd Month: After the complete removal of all its Pitt population, the Empire of the Pitt officially cedes the agreed upon territory to the Midwestern Brotherhood. In exchange, the MWBOS sends 35 of its “Pacifier” class robots to the Pitt. Ashur is immensely impressed with the power of the robot machines, and places them on various patrol duties around the Pitt and uses them to help keep slaves in line.

The Pitt and the Midwestern Brotherhood begin their joint railroad construction project, with the intent of linking up both their empires and much of the east coast and Midwest region as a result.

3rd Month: Ashur orders the marshaling of 30,000 raider troops under the command of Marshal Krenshaw and sends them southwards, across the Ohio River to invade the unclaimed territory there. The expeditionary force meets with minimal resistance, and 15% of the population of the newly conquered lands is enslaved.

4th Month: Shipments of books, scrolls, and newly printed works are sent from the Union of the Astral Children and readily accepted by Ashur. The Lord of the Pitt begins making plans for a massive construction project of a large library and archive building located on the grounds of Haven in order to store all the new works. Ashur also orders a full scale scouring of all the pre-war libraries within his Empire, to begin collecting worthwhile (and still usable) books from these to store in the Haven Archives.

As agreed, both the Commonwealth and the Union of the Astral Children send scientists and missionaries to the Pitt respectively. Ashur gives them accommodations in the east wing of Haven. Marie takes a particular interest in the new arrivals, and both her and Ashur make it a point to gather the new academics every week for a discussion of theological and scientific topics of interest.

5th Month: Work continues on the power plants and telephone systems that the Commonwealth agreed to install. The Pitt begins producing, with the know-how of the Commonwealth, the various chemicals and substances it requested en-masse.

6th Month: The port of Philadelphia is declared to be the primary naval base for the Empire of the Pitt: much of its navy being docked along the Delaware River. The Empire begins attempting to retrofit its vessels to be more battle worthy, and anti-aircraft guns are added to several of the ships.

As a test of its naval sea-going capacity, the Pitt sends ten vessels loaded with soldiers and equipment to what was once the pre-war island of Bermuda. After a heavy bombardment of the shore from the on-board howtizers, the raider soldiers after making landfall begin raiding the island in force. They kill most of the islands inhabitants and the raiders return to their ships with captured slaves and various stolen cargo. Quickly, the ships take off and head back the way they came.

7th Month: Ashur begins making plans to standardize the weapons and armor of his military forces, all supplied by the steel forged in the Pitt. As of now however, he orders the forging of more heavy caliber weaponry and more fortified version of the raider armors his soldiers still wear.

8th Month: The Empire of the Pitt receives the promised artisans and craftsman from the Union of the Astral children, they are immediately commissioned by the Lord of the Pitt to create various works of art for the Empire.

9th Month: More helicopters and other assorted aircraft are refurbished for the Pitt’s air-force. Most of these craft are stored at Wright Patterson Air Force Base.

10th Month: The Pitt receives the bulk of the harvest reaped by both its own fields and the agricultural imports of both the Union of the Astral Children and the confederacy. With a food surplus, Ashur orders the distribution of fast food stores to the slave population, in order to keep them well fed and thus content with their existence.

11th Month: The Archives of Haven, after a tremendous undertaking by vast numbers of slaves, is completed on the grounds of Haven. It’s a large five story building, modeled in a neo-classical style and beautified by Astral Children artists and sculptors. The library contains within its vast stacks, various works from the Union of the Astral children and pre-war libraries across Ashur’s Empire. In order to ensure the protection of the works, Ashur creates an order of archivists for the library, the Scribes of the Pitt, to maintain and continue book collection for the library.

12th Month: Ashur hears word of a second great convention of nations, and immediately makes preparations to attend.

Yeah, I know better than to throw a child into the wolf den that is the Council/Convention/Summit. Not to mention the fact that he wouldn't know what he was doing. And no, he's basically a puppet of a few different people in the Concord, with the majority of the Pure citizens seeing him as only the symbolic head of the Concord.

Hey, I participated in the second battle for Panama alongside Wombat :P. But yes, that was a fun time.

Someone has been playing a bit too much New Vegas, or perhaps Red Dead Redemption :P. Anyway, I have no intention in duking it out with the Empire of the Bull and the Principality of Solus... unless if the battle is accompanied by an awesome western soundtrack.

Hey Han, are you seriously committing the NCR for a no expansion policy? :P

Uh, Han, I'm a little confused by your last post. The Chancellor never asked the President to do anything, just asked what he wanted to trade for the Gauss weaponry.

"Your wish is my command sire" doesn't exactly answer that question :P

Timeline will be up tonight, I need to first figure exactly what I want to take for my expansion purposes.

I found his post to very odd of the President to say. Sounds like Han is trying to butter up Solus. :P

I'm not sure what to make of it honestly. I mean, in the context of the discussion, it's nothing less than babble really. It looks like a typo to me.

It's like if you asked someone where to they wanted to eat, and they replied "Of course!". Or something to that effect.

So, here's what I came up with for the Principality's expansion this time around. Just took a stab in the dark, so if something's wrong, don't hesitate to tell me. http://imgur.com/2Y5J7UE

Sorry for the double post also.

Which map version are we using by the way? Sticking with Wonder's then?

Personally, I prefer my original map for the rivers and because its larger. But the nations on Wonder's map are a bit cleaner. I only ask because a couple people expressed interest in sticking with the original, and I guess I'll be updating the maps since Wonder said he's going to be gone for a couple days.

Want to get a definite read before I start updating. No take-backs after that.

Haven't put in Solus's expansion yet.

Edit: And I need to put in Superior Shelf.

Looks fine to me. I don't really have a favorite between the two. I still can't get over how Iceland is turned a quarter-way to the side, though :P. (On both maps)

The rivers are a nice touch, as well.

Well I'll guess I'll use mine then, because I [censored] like rivers.

I'll try to touch it up a bit and make it cleaner. But first:

Have I got everyone's expansion so far? I tried to make Solus's and the Inquistory's as close as possible to what Yes Man and Aldin posted.

Edit: Bosmight, your link is broken.

WWII era Japan could produce Aircraft Carriers, your own Pitt has enough industrial might to build them (if it were on the Ocean). I don't think its unreasonable to field Aircraft Carriers, which are essentially converted battleships. Not too mention if we cut out navies of relatively larger sizes, Japan as a faction becomes next to nothing, useless and a silly faction to be. We all agreed at the beggining to do a "Summit style" this time around. That meant larger than life everything, I'm not sure why everyone seems to be getting cold feet.

Tundra isn't the Pitt, I am. And the Pitt does have a navy.

Well the idea wasn't to cut out the size of the navies at all. We still have large navies (if you want one that is). But we just cut out aircraft carriers.

So Japan can still remain a dominating naval presence in the Pacific.

Seems good to me. Close enough anyway that I didn't notice any differences.

Like what Andro said, I'm good with having a large navy. It's just the aircraft carriers I'm not crazy about.

Well, I'm okay with not having ultra modern aircraft carreirs, but WWII era ones that can take attack aircraft and early jets would be something I would prefer to keep in. I'm taking 1949-1950's technology here.

Err. For one turn expansion bosmight, that's a huge chunk of land.

Hell just going North to Alaska would be alot of territory to conquer.

And remember rule number 1:

Whoa there, Quick Draw, hold your horses. Like Andro said, that's a lot of land. Do you want another Aurodia?

Anyway, I love having the old map up to date and usable. I much prefer it, because of the rivers and because it's damn big.

Edit: On the other map, Lanius' conquests looked a lot bigger. I'm going to have to do a little more expanding, I'll have an updated timeline done soon.

I don't know Andronicus, it seems sensible to me.

It's a lot of land, but then again there is no real conflict. Even today not many people live in Alaska and other northern Canadian states, and considering the end of the world and all, even less people must live there now. For Bosmight, it's just a "go and plant your flag" situation. That's what I thought when I saw the Inquisitory of Whitetower and the nation on Greenland, at least. :bonk:

I'd say either choose the northern territory to expand to or the southern. But not both, even one of those is stretching the limits of expansion for one turn. But I'm assuming you are just claiming and not necessarily fully occupying.

Edit:

For conventions, its against the rules to expand too much.

Or rather, its ill advised to do so. Even if its just "flag planting". There has to be limits. Bosmight has lost several nations in the past because of expansion like this. Continuous expansion on this scale will lead to guaranteed ruin.

The Inquisitory had quite a bit, about the size of one of bosmight's territorial expansions (north or south). As of now, he has basically doubled the Inquisitory.

Greenland started out in the control of the Nordic Concord (hence they've been there for nigh on 200 years), and its tip is the only real populated area.
