But if an American played Shakespeare he wouldn't be speaking in an American accent, thicko.

Also I'm not talking about accents in the time, I'm talking about accents that don't sound modern. Try and see what the difference is instead of getting your words wrong and speaking out of context.

I gave you reasoning as to why there are American accents. But you just seem to want to side step that and insist that we use some form or archaic accents that most users wouldn't even be able to understand.

I never even said Bethesda should use ancient forms of language that we cannot understand. What I said was that I don't think their modern American voice actors are right for what they portray in the game. Skyrim has the same voices are Fallout 3, which was set in America.

Thicko? Am I supposed to know what that means or is that some ancient accent?

And, for the last time, there are no accents that don't sound modern as every accent IS modern. There is no accent older than American accents as they are all about equally as old (give or take a couple hundred years). But either way, it doesn't matter, you're likely talking to a brick wall.

Oh, and by the way, Shakespeare is performed in American accents all the time. As well as every other accent.

Accents that don't sound modern
What are they?
To me, living in the UK, an English accent sounds modern.
Maybe you want them to go all olde worldly and say thee and thou all the time. That isn't authentic either.
What exactly do you want?

Come to think of it, all the British voice actors broke my immersion. This is Skyrim, not England!

Speaking of voice actors... does the courior sound like that dragon kid from Spirited Away to anyone else...or just me?

Yeah because it was based in America but again wouldn't sound odd, just like people say American accents sound fine in Skyrim, LOL. What a contradiction.

Well I thought thats what you were implying when you said you would rather them have ancient accents rather than American ones that are only 250 years old.

Anywhere you go in the world right now you will hear a modern accent. All accents that are around today are considered modern. And if you want to talk about how long it's been around and what the modern version is based off of it isn't fair to say that "American" is only 250 years old because when the settlers came to America they didn't just completely stop with their accents and decide on something new. It just evolved over time from what they spoke like in Europe, just like the Europeans accents evolved as well.

1) i said that because you claimed the voices in skyrim are the same as the ones that are used in fallout 3.
I am illustrating that there are more accents in cikyrim, so your statement isnt factual.

2)Why would it sound odd? there are people in america right now that have accents from all over the world. There are a few brittish accents in F3.

3)Skyrim isnt set in america or europe. so there is no default real life accent that should take precident over any other.

There are only two types of American accent: Southern Hick Creationism, and annoying.

Are there odd accent choices? Yes. Do I care veryt much? No Woudl it have been nice if all the Nord voice actors where ex-pat Icelanders living in the united states? Sure. Would I have enjoyed a consistent group of voice actors to voice each group? Sure, consisteny woudl have been nice so that you coudl tell from voice alone that someone was a Nord, Breton, Imperial, etc.

Yet, with the game so DAMN broken does it matter? Nope...

American voiceacting is in most intances bad for the immersion. American english does not sound authentic, like other english accents. It's hard to explain.

this is an american made game set in a fictional world, i would have to say that just because youre used to hearing old world accents doesnt make american english any less authetic in a fantasy setting.
