.44 ammo please

I want to make a cowboy build with crits and Kellogg's gun but I can't find any ammo for it even with scrounger perk and had to make a new character. How do I get .44 ammo?

Buy it or be patient and wait till you're a higher level.. Higher luck will help with lootspawns.

Its a pretty damaging ammo, im a level 45 with 10 luck and even im not finding .44 ammo THAT often, i'd have to stockpile before using it for a longer period.

Basically, you buy it. Apparently the Scrounger perk is bugged; at the very least, there's a mod on the Nexus for the PC version that addresses it, and I've definitely had it show up in decent, though not spectacular, quantities since installing the mod and taking at least one rank of the perk. Another mod simply says 'Scrounger now works with 10mm, .44 Caliber, Fusion Cells, and Shotgun shells.' I'm not sure exactly what the issue was, but apparently it was something that at least a couple of people felt needed fixing.

The main issue was, that those ammunitions (along with others, see link) wasn't in the table for the scrounger perk, so they were unaffected by it. Also, .38 is over represented in that list, which one of the mods fixes as well.

Finding .44 ammo is almost as unlikely as successfully getting a pie from the Port-A-Dinner.

You find a little in loot containers.

You barter it from the vendors at various locations around the map like Goodneighbour, Diamond city and so on.

In my game both vendors at Goodneighbour sell a few rounds.

In my games, early on, I use the ammo sparingly until I am able to build level 3 gun shops at settlements.

Your own level 3 shops should stock it.

How to get .44 ammo:

Level up. Acquire appropriate perks and build multiple weapon emporiums on one settlement for ease of use (five or six is good, but you can make more as you see fit). Sanctuary works well as it has water nearby, which brings me to my next step: build an industrial water filtration system, using at least 6-7 industrial filters with dedicated large generators per 2 filters. This should produce between 100 and 200 bottles of purified water every few days or so. Sell the water to your shops as soon as you get it each cycle; buy only ammo. It seems the economic system produces more as you buy more. I've been doing it for a while now. I only buy .44/Shotgun shells/.556/.50. After a while I saw an increase in the numbers of bullets available, and a bit later I saw a significant increase. Any given cycle of produced purified water nets me anywhere from 50 to 100 .44 bullets. I love .44 caliber. It's my favorite because I love revolvers. Trust me, this is how you do it. You'll be swimming in a sea of .44 bullets in no time.

You better off just using the Pip Revolver to be honest or a 10MM Pistol. .44 ammo is nearly impossible to find even with all points in Scrounger. And this is another reason why ammo crafting should be a feature because some types are nearly impossible to find making some weapons hard to use.

Well, that is nice, if one is doing settlements :) I personally try to avoid it. Bethesda should just put them in the ammo loot table, along with shells and other ammo types currently not there.

In other words you need a high charisma and science character and need to do settlement building. Yeah no one should have to do all of that for one [censored] ammo type.

If you dont want to bother with settlements there are a couple of other options, you're still not going to find much so buying it is your safest bet. You will have at least 1 settlement from the start of the game where you rescued Prestons gang so keep that in mind even if you just do the minimum to get your water, food and weapon stand.

You can also buy it from Ronnie Shaw (castle) as well as KLE0 and Daisy in Goodneighbour.

I cant remember the name of the person or town they're near but theres a woman in a trailer who sells above average amounts of many kinds of ammo. You can rescue her dog which has been trapped in a cage. She's a little bit outside a ruined town which has been taken over by super mutants. Hopefully this jogs someones memory and they can give you more details.

Currently got 2400 of the stuff but I've been buying it every chance I get, level 82 now.

Wasn't much of a fan of Kellog's gun. Try something like Eddies Piece (Valentines companion quest) for increased limb damage or The Gainer which sets the enemy on fire. You can pick this up from a building south of Hub City Auto Wreckers. No quest involved so its just a 5 minute detour to go pick it up.

With round about Level 17 the Merchants starts to sell some. Your best Hope is to make a own Weapon Merchant in your Settlement, i mean this Stage 3 Merchant with Level 20. Even Ammo has Level Scaling, i dont like it either. Iam using a .44 too and have the same Problem.

not neccessary to buy vendors. just buy .44 from each vendor you meet. sell them ammo you dont need, so you gain .44 and caps.

however, it is wise to not waste the "good" ammo on standard enemies. use a cheaper type (10mm for example) on normal raiders, ghuls etc., and switch to .44 only for harder enemies.

Ammo crafting was great in NV, I'd have it back for FO4

That's a good suggestion that I've already tried with several of my characters over several settlements (with the weapon stands not the water because I have plenty of caps). I assign settlers to work the weapon stand and they never seem to be there. I've even tried re-assigning a different settler and I don't understand because I don't have a problem with the first aid stations or the bars.

I love the .44 revolver for my high luck pistol-packing momma, who only uses handguns. I alternate between a customized .44 and Deliverer (10 mm) to conserve ammo and just buy up any .44 as make my rounds of the vendors. Also found that MacCready will occasionally give you .44 ammo if you travel with him.

You can sell not used ammo, and buy .44 ammo.

Learn to aim better, results in less ammo waste. ;)

I play with a loot overhaul which makes all ammo scarce. I usually have to buy ammo, although also the vendors have less. It's an acceptable way to get ammo, so buy your .44 rounds.

Agree, just get the perks that give you more ammo in containers and you'll soon be able buy/sell ammo exclusively, providing you fully explore/loot locations

It's a little frustrating to have your weapon choice dictated by the availability of ammo, but that's kinda how I'm playing. Kellogg's revolver is great but I'm not using it because of the ammo situation--I still try to kill enemies from stealth with a suppressed pipe pistol (35 base dmg, lol) if I can.

The short answer is to buy the stuff every chance you get, and be sparing with it.

lol, you don't need to do quite that much settlement stuff but if you make 6 industrial water purifiers at sanctuary and build 5 or 10 small ones too just to boost the overall capacity and you'll get about 170 water quite often and if your charisma and barter[cap collecter] is somewhat decent you'll have more than enough caps to buy tons of 44 ammo, just make your rounds to the vendors, but it still might be tricky if its the only gun you use, so i would at least have a few others weapons just so you're not using just the 44 cal.

It is Eleanor at the trading post which is between the Boston Police Rationing Site and Fairline Hills Estate just to the south of Diamond City. It is slightly towards the west, and the dog trapped in the cage is to the east of her at the top of a hill.

After about level 35 or so I started finding quite a few of .44 ammo but my character's luck is 8 and I'm the kind of player who likes to explore every nook and cranny. At earlier levels I used to sell all my unwanted ammo in Diamond City and Good Neighbour and buy all the .44 ammo that I could find. There's also a merchant in an unmarked location near Coastal Cottage who's always loaded with large quantities of .44 ammo.
