Ammo TYpe in HUD?

Post » Wed Mar 03, 2010 1:01 pm

I've been looking around to see if there's a mod to display the currently-loaded ammo type in the Hud - e.g. next to the ammo numbers.

It'd be a help to know whether you're firing HP at a Radscorpion or AP at a fleshy centaur, without having to check the ammo type in PipBoy.

Is there such a mod? Or is it already shown and I just don't know where?

Lol, it is already shown. AP = Armor piercing. HP = Hollow point.

Oh dear, Oh dear, Oh dear. So it is. How did I miss it? Too old and to short-sighted, I think.

Thanks so much for taking the trouble to answer :)

You know, I do agree that there could be a better indication. At first when I saw "AP" I thought it was "Attack points". But there already was an "AP" on the right. THEN I changed ammo and again and was even MORE confused when it said HP. I thought "Hit points?!?!" GAHHHH its the ammo!!

What would be nice, and may exist already, would be a keyboard shortcut to switch between ammo types for the current weapon without having to go through a bunch of screens in the Pipboy.

There is, you just have to push "2" it toggles between all the ammo types available.

How about if they do something really annoying, like abandon one of the few hotkeys the game has in order to switch ammo instead of using an available key? Then PC users can have another reason to hate consoles.

I heard that. Can anyone make or recommend a mod to give me back my #2 hotkey and remap "ammo switch" to another key?

Hrm, I was sure I'd tried this. Maybe I was expecting a window to open or something, or maybe I only had one type of ammo for whatever I had equipped when I did it.

In any case, thanks for the tip.
