Ammo weight for survival mode

Post » Sat Feb 27, 2016 3:22 am

I think it was implemented perfectly in F:NV, if its just replicated into FO:4's upcoming survival mode that will be great.

On a second note, has there been any news whether or not individual features of survival mode can be turned off?

I love that you can only save when you sleep, but my game crashes every hour or so, and i don't see that being fixed so it will be nice if i can turn off this feature.

Thanks

oh gosh no. The game is already a hoarders best/worst dream/nightmare as it is. :nope:

Also you can bet the new diseases will come with one that lowers strength making you wish you never asked for more weight on your shoulders. Automatic/Minigun users will also probably try to track down where you live.

I really hope that the ammo weight is in for survival. Though I also hope that some one either mods in or there is a toggle to activate it on the easier settings.

Loved the ammo weight system in NV, and here is would work even better. As it would mean you would have to prep for scavenging missions and loots using a settlment as a base camp as you work our way though a facility or clear out another, only returning when you have to much loot and to little ammo.

Yes, that's what i loved about F:NV. I had to limit the ammo i would carry. I loved trying to guess whether 200 MFC's will be enough or not. As of now, i am walking around carrying 23 mini nukes and it kills immersion.

I'm hoping that ammunition weight will also be in the new survival mode. I wouldn't mind also seeing the ability for the player to make his or her own ammunition, and for the appearance of a new shop which sells ammunition. Perhaps they'd have a larger and more varied selection than the standard shop, and the player might be able to walk up and see people "making" the ammunition in the back of the shop- or something to that effect. Based on what I've heard so far, I'm sure that Bethesda will make a vast improvement to the mode.

In theory ammo weight might sound immersive and exciting but to me it`s just another thing I would have to micromanage. I already do that with everything else I carry. I`ll just set the weights to zero again. For survival mode I want a challenge for my senses and skills, not annoying limitations.

If you are a builder, you've got enough problems with inventory management. ADDING to that... ugh. Please, gods, no.

No I don't want to be running back and forth every damn time just to stock up on ammo. As someone who takes everything this would become even more annoying.

That's not what i meant. I was saying that you couldn't take all the ammo with you and had to leave most of it at your home base due to weight issues.

I agree. I'm really looking forward to the hardcoe mode, but I could do without carry weight for ammo. I like immersion, but I don't need 100% realism. I really don't like the idea of saving only when sleeping either. It's not so much that I dislike the idea in principle, but Bethesda games aren't exactly known for their stability. In my 600 hours I've had around a dozen CTDs and a few quests that have gotten bugged, requiring reloading from an earlier save point. When this happens, it's a lot more bearable to go back to a save point from 10 minutes ago than it is to go back to one from 3 hours ago. Now if we could carry a bedroll item and sleep wherever we want (within reason, not during quests, in dungeons, or in the middle of combat), then I'd be all for it. It accomplishes a bit more realism, and helps to prevent you from losing those three completed quests, and that awesome legendary drop that you -finally- found due to a CTD. I'd really like to see this mode implemented in a way that makes some of it optional. Eating, drinking, and sleeping should be required parts of the mode. However, saving on sleeping and things like ammo carry weight should be optional in my opinion.

Dude I spit thousands of 5mm rounds just to kill a couple ghouls, I love it the mini turns them to ground beef. But holy hell man how can I carry 3k bullets PLUS backup weapons and ammo. I think ammo weight is too much. If they did implement it, miniguns and heavy weapons in general will be [censored]

Quick question, I just realised that mods for weapons and armour take up weight, if I get rid of them in a container or drop them, do I lose the mods on that weapon after they have been dropped/stocked in a container?

Cause it's a video game and my char is Johnny Cockdesiel.

I'm on board for making the game harder but not annoying. If there's no more fast travel that means every time I kill a couple guys I'm forced to run my ass all the way back to DC or something to restock. I do this enough as it is, I just feel like there's so many weapons and stuff in this game it encourages you to have different options available at all times.

Plus like I said even if it is realistic, it's would ruin miniguns (and I believe heavy weapons in general)

Depends on the container. If its an area where enemies spawn, then you will lose them. But if its your home/settlement then no you don't lose them.

You know, its called survival mode for a reason? It's meant to imitate a sense of realism. If you walk around with 3000 minigun bullets and 83 missiles then there are 4 other modes that you can still play and carry around all that stuff.

I'd be happy with ammo weight. I already role-play in the sense that I carry a primary and a sidearm only; I already have the odd situation where I need to scavenge a gun/ammo and it makes for an interesting game experience. Of course I kind of like not having everything under my control all the time; the odd frantic panic and on the spot problem solving is fun.

I welcome ammo weight.

I see a lot of people saying ammo weight is a chore and not something that will challenge their skills or whatever.

Isn't your skill gonna be challenged when you can't carry around 34 mininukes, 69 missiles and 1000 rounds of sniper ammo or shotgun shells anymore?

What about the ammo for your go-to weapon? You'll be challenged when you have to switch to a weaker gun or even use scavenged and looted guns because that's all you can find ammo for.

I welcome ammo weight, thirst, hunger, disease, insomnia, and anything else that makes the game more "realistic".

I also support that all of this be made optional, in a checklist format perhaps, like some people have mentioned.

I hope it's there. in NV, that was the only Hard Core feature that mattered to me: I could make up for all, but ammo weight meant that I had to regularly return to my home and strategically decide how and what weapons and ammo to take on following few quests. Food, water, sleep and even more health problems were all trivial.

But that's what hardcoe mode is about. having to micromanage our food, water, sleep, ammo, health, etc.

Higher difficulties are there to make it just harder.

I heard many complaints about NV but never ever did I hear anyone complaining about how hardcoe mode ruined the heavy weaponry.

Besides, it is unrealistic that some weakling with no muscles even uses them. Want them? Invest into your Strength or use PA, like everyone in FO-verse does. And don't carry more than one heavy weapon at a time: Survival/hardcoe Mode isn't supposed to make you cool or god-like.

I'd make the argument about how useful are some of those items as it stands? A missile launcher weighing like 30 pounds, ontop of heavy ammunition? That's one heck of a disincentive, considering you can get legendary rifles that do more damage. For mini-nukes its even worse. How many mini nukes can you find? Ontop of that the weapon weighs 36ish pounds?

Miniguns - I had a unique one that did fire damage. I saved up all the 5mm for over 40 levels, even buying 5mm ammo every chance I got. I burned through over 4k 5mm rounds in a single dungeon. With all the heavy weapon perks, and using power armor to get in close to the enemy. So thats another weapon scratched off.
