Love it, or die. Amon Amarth will be my background music for Skyrim. (I just killed a spider with my bare hands. AMA GOD) What will be your background music. I know this thread has been done, but i don't care. (I just killed a spider with my middle finger). Answer, or pay with your blood to the gods of asgard.

He's going to have serious problems with his voice when he's like 60.

Anyway i'm not into the whole metal scene, well except for sleaze and hair metal(but I would barely call it metal). To me the vocals, lyrics and style are a major turn off when it comes to well... Most metal.
I'll listen to the original soundtrack, will probably immerse me more than modern music.

Scandinavian and Nordic metal is always at the forefront of good metal.

I warmly (or coldly?) recommend Moonsorrow, from Finland, and their epic 30-something-minute-masterpiece Tulimyrsky.

It's all the same song, but it's so bloody long they've had to split it up on Youtube. As a Swede, I can tell you this song is spot on.

That's a misconception. There are people who have vocal chord issues after singing like that, but they're also doing it wrong. When singing like that, you have to use your diaphragm, not your throat. And a lot of people use their throat. Most metal singers these days learn how to sing properly, so as to avoid long term damage. The singer in a band I tried to assemble once actually took lessons for it.

Well i'm not much of a singer myself (I can sing in tune though) but from what I hear when I listen to that singer is that he's putting a lot of strain on his throat. But yes I know that their is a way to not destroy your voice, though i'm not very familiar with it in technical terms, I would imagine a lot of people aren't. The singers I know and have played with have never really talked about it (most of them have never really taken lessons though), then, I haven't played with any growlers, death metal singers or whatever either... We'll just see how our generation sounds when they're the old timers.

When i saw the trailer i wanted to hear Opeth in the background. The Watershed album would be kickass for those cold, barren mountain-winter-areas.

Opeth are awesome, and I've personally met Micke on one the many gigs I've gone to see, but it's hardly the right type of music for a mountain setting.

I felt I should add some more.

Also, watch out for the cheesy as hell power metal that I threw in there. I like it a hell of a lot, but you might not.

Edit: Durin's Bane, yeah, Suidakra are epic!

I usually listen to In Flames, but right now I find myself listening to the soundtrack of hexen, the game not the band.

Lets put it this way, if he weren't doing it correctly he would've lost his voice half way through one of their tours.

Most professional death metal singers are familiar with how to do it correctly.

Must be a European thing....

Then again, my old neighbor used to listen to death metal all the time while driving, talking, or anything. He also liked to kill and mutilate small animals in creative ways. He then bought a custom-made Belgian AK....yeah, get the idea?.... :bolt:

I'm so glad he also had Oblivion for his "self-expression".....

Gimme a break, metal heads are so e of the most normal well adjusted people on earth, don't take one example and lump us all In the same basket, I have never seen or heard of anything bad happening at metal shows, I have heard however of people being [censored] at country shows, but I don't hold that against the whole genre, metal is seriously the most misunderstood genres of music, as a proud metal head who also listens to a wide variety of music, doesn't kill animals, doesn't own a gun and a

Well said man ;) I think metalfans are some of the most down to earth people you can find. I love being att metal shows!! feel the atmosphere and feel the powerful and unique music that as you said, is a very very misunderstood type of music. But then again, I don't really care what people thinks, if they can't get into it, well their loss. All I know is that metal music has always been there for me from a very young age. Im proud too be a metalhead, and I always will be.

Well I most likely will only play Skyrim with the default soundtrack. I really like gothic metal though like Nightwish, Kamelot, Epica and Within Temptation, also Poets of the Fall never gets old but then I usually don't listen to music while playing games.

To the few who have said Windir and Moonsorrow - I applaud you. Two of my favorite metal bands (Windir being #1). RIP Valfar. I also second the Primordial recommendation.

That said, I also highly recommend Agalloch.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SIzoyPfPKO4

I'll be playing through the game with the regular soundtrack (soundtrack music is actually my favorite music), but might add in some atmospheric music from Agalloch and others for modded playthroughs. I've been meaning to do that in Morrowind for a long time actually...

Glad to see some metalheads in the TES forums.
