so let me get this straight. psymon has the mods that everyone on this thread is looking for but he won't share them because amp hasn't given permission to re-upload but it was also said that he DID give permission......what am i missing?

Well there was discussion elsewhere than that thread - maybe it was a PM thread between he and I - I forget.

I recall him stating he would rehost them and that he just did not. Without getting into to much detail I got the impression he was over the whole thing and just didn't get a lot of joy out of it. My position is that since he doesn't want to host them (and he obviously doesn't) then me doing so would likely be a rude gesture (I know some of you think I drip rudeness, but I beg to differ).

The bottom line is he can host them, but doesn't want to. If he gives me word that it is ok then still I'd likely pass that on to someone else (though I'd be glad to BAIN them). What I have is everything - the old and new - and I think he didn't want the older stuff to be distributed at all - but I'm not sure which is which now. I may be able to figure it out. Also I know I'm not the only one who has them all. There are others just as regular as me who saw a good thing when it was there.

I can totally understand that position, my previous comment was mostly just being silly (though I do prefer the cathedral view to the parlor view of modding). It would just be nice if he could come back and resolve this for us. If he doesn't want his textures out there, that's fine, but if he doesn't mind then they should definitely be made available. I don't even have any intention of using them, actually, heh.

I really hope they all get uploaded, preferably all at once. TES Alliance would be a nice place for them, also free of all that... stuff that can go on at certain other sites.

Failing that, if permission were given, that would be second best, and end up more or less the same. I guess. :shrug: Still, hopefully AmpolX comes back. In fact, some more textures would be even better. Hehe. :icecream:

I actually contacted him back around January myself, he explained he pulled his work from nexus for personal reasons dealing with the people there. Aside that he stated this,

"I am currently reworking oblivion from the ground up on textures and plan to release a WIP thread possibly soon. "

This was on January 13th, so not sure what happened but the wip thread never came.

I won't redistribute or anything, you just have no idea how much time I have spent trying to find the files after reformatting.

I'm pretty sure he can't do that as its still technically redistributing them without permission. If its not a bad thing then i wouldn't mind getting my hands on them (along with everyone else in this thread)

Redistribution via PM between two users is still redistribution. Probably best to wait and see if Amp give some word on the situation for sure one way or the other before anyone passes files around against his wishes. :unsure:

I know that a modders work is their work. They created it, they own it.
What seems odd to me is when they pull the mods links down as a way to punish players. :blink:
It seems silly to punish everyone for one persons negative criticism.
Is that not what has happened in this instance? And is that not what has happened sooo many times in the past? (other modders)
I would understand this more if modders were profiting from there work. But in the end, it's free material that they
put on the internet of all places. Most everyone, (except the few of us on this page) has AmpolX's work.

I agree wholeheartedly. I recognize the staggering amount of work that goes into making a mod for any game - but the whole "I'm taking my ball mods and going home!" attitude is really perplexing. I often wonder what the game industry would be like if actual game developers did this.

If it is such a big deal to share via PM, I'd settle for just the original name of the archive. Maybe it is sitting on my external HD somewhere and I can dig it up.

It would be funny if AmpolX doesn't want them out because they're secretly horrible or something, so everyone goes to all this trouble with an underground network of secret file sharing and the textures turn out to be worthless. lololol

Actually I'm sure they're fine, though one thing that prevented me from getting as excited as other people might be is seeing a lot of obvious tiling in a couple screenshots. Boo obvious tiling

I can live with a little tiling... Maybe even fix it I used to have all his files like everyone else. Trust me, they're awesome! Gives each region a distinct color scheme that just fits perfectly IMO.

As soon as I saw the thread title and 3 page of activity, I was giddy that Ampolx had finally re-released his awesome textures. Now I'm left with only an empty feeling and the discarded hope that I'll ever re-experience the full Ampolx's texture greatness again.
