Amulet to Jauffre problem : IV

I've just re-started playing Oblivion and I'm having a problem with the main quest line. I got the amulet of kings in the sewers and went to Weynon Priory (sp?) to talk to Jauffre and he won't take the amulet. I then looked at my quest list and I don't have any quests available or active.

Anyone know how I can solve this problem?

I also tried disabling all of the mods except for the official patch.

It sounds like the link between when you leave the imperial sewers and when you get to Jauffre has been severed. This could have been caused by corruption in the files or the disk itself. It could also be because the disk has a scratch. Also looking at all the mods you've got, you may have downloaded a virus or a dud that stuffed up your game. Mind you it could just be that you haven't selected the quest. I would suggest cleaning the disk and starting again. If that doesn't help, you'll could try uninstalling oblivion, then reinstalling it. If worst comes to worst, you could always just buy a new disk. I hope I've been of some help ^_^ .

It wouldn't be a scratch, because it just affects this in game. So one of your mods is corrupting the quest.

In that case the corruption Bllasae speaks of is most likely in your save game. You can test this by starting a brand-new test character and taking a new amulet to Jauffrey.If he takes the amulet, there's no point in re-installing: your current install is just fine.

I've done the MQ with all those mods except for Creeper Jones and HmnsOblivionScriptOptimization. My money is on HmnsOblivionScriptOptimization as being the culprit. If it were me, I'd disable that mod, start a test character, COC to Weynon Priory after receiving the amulet and see if Jauffrey will now accept the amulet.

Well I was just lazy & used the player.setstage cheat to set my progress to 40 for that quest and I got through it.
