Amulet of Mara

Post » Fri Dec 09, 2011 6:53 am

Really?! Bethseda! Just really. So the random loot Amulet of Mara doesn't have the marriage script on it, supposedly. WTF. Thanks Bethseda. Now I cannot buy the Amulet that does have the marriage script on it because I already have one from random loot.

And here I had been traveling with my companion for so long and now I cannot marry them. -.-

maybe you're not their type hah!

I believe you have to do the friend quest with them and be friend status before you can marry them

Actually I'm trying to marry Taarie from Radiant Raiment. I did her quest. It says she's marriagable on the marriage list in on the Wikia. But it never registers. I bought a marriage scripted one. No luck. WTF. Grrr. I liked her and her [censored]y attitude. I was going to turn her into an awesome mage companion wife.

The marriage system svcks just like every other game that's tried to implement it, your not missing anything here.

The random amulet not working properly is a known bug. Just drop it and buy the other one.

I did and the proper one doesn't even work.

@Everyone: Yes the marriage system svcks. I already married once and it was craptastic. But I wanted to marry someone in this game for the story of my character who is married. His backstory includes marriage.

If you're on PC, you may need to try the suggestions in http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1268837-how-to-marry-any-character-including-lydia/ to make Taarie marriageable.

I had like 4 dead bodies I had to drag to the cellar, and one into the priest's bedroom just to get married..

Not worth it.

It's bugged. My Erik is on the list, but I had to use the suggested console command. Same for people trying to marry Lydia. If the second patch isn't out by the time I start another character, I'll probably try some of the other NPC options to see who else works/doesn't.

The random loot amulet does appear to be random in operation, I got hold of an amulet from the priest in a certain shady place, that worked on Camilla from Riverwood, but my new character has been wearing a random amulet for quite some time now and despite doing quests and other things, non of my followers or even Camilla show the dialogue options.

Guys, you don't just need the amulet. You need to talk to Marabel about marriage AND have the amulet. Then it works. Look stuff up before you declare it's bugged.

He said he's already been married. Last I checked, you only get one shot at it.

Not the same character though. I have two main characters. One of them has been married before. And the second one hasn't. But I finally found someone who could work with him.

I keep trying to see if I can trigger the conversation with some of the women I'd like to try marrying, but it never happens.

But then some of the homeless male beggars flirt with me and mention how surprised they are I'm not taken yet.
