A farmer who had contracted to rent 25 mu of land to, you know, farm built a cannon tower. Why? His land has been requisitioned and he is refusing to leave it until the compensation for breaking the contract is fulfilled. He's already fought off, allegedly, 130 people who have tried to force him off his land. All have failed before the might of his tower.......except the first thirty. They were dumb and decided to beat him first and "finish the job later".

Thoughts? (This is completely badass by the way.)

Yang Youde said that he will continue to stand up against the evictors. He has "researched and developed" new weapons such as "petrol bombs." He has also set up a couch on the cannon tower so that he can be on vigil twenty-four hours a day.

EDIT: By the way, this is pretty damn heroic of him. At first I was like... "Hrm. That seems a tad extreme." Then when I read he had been beaten by thirty men I realized I'd have made some ghetto plasma rifles by now.

My mind is like an army where everyone has laser pointers and ADHD. If you can get them focused for more that 5 minutes they can do great things. But most of the times its "Hey look pretty lights!!" in a million different directions. I get bored and distracted by shiny objects.

Congrats on finding one of the best websites on China there is. This is actually a very serious subject in China and the reason Avatar was removed from Chinese cinemas. People have set themselves on fire, riots are common and it is perhaps the biggest source of discontent in China. This guy is one of millions every year who has his land compulsorily requisitioned. Most settle for much, much less than the developer makes. Because they know they'll be removed forcibly if they don't. This guy was long term renting, but it's still his life and livelihood.

Exactly. I'm serious when I say I'd probably have jury-rigged a plasma rifle by now. I've totally got a design idea in mind, and everything. You'd just need to get me off my damn ass for enough time to build the damn thing.
