Ancient Nord Armor worse than Hide Armor

Post » Fri Dec 16, 2011 9:05 am

Wow, I just got my Ancient Nord armor from Skyforge, and upgraed it to Legendary. Also, I have my Hide armor upgraded to Flawless (can't upgrade more even with 100 smithing).

Now, the problem is the Ancient Nord armor, which is a Heavy armor, is WORSE than the Hide armor, which is Light and also is the weakest Light armor there is.

Now isn't this a very poor design desicion?

It's ancient rusty armor that's been in a crypt for a trazillion years. I'd expect it to svck.

Generally speaking, I wouldn't expect anything "Ancient" to be very good at what it was originally intended to do...

Is your light armour skill higher than your heavy armour skill?

Aaaaaah, yes I got better Light armor rating than Heavy, I heard Light armor rating helps being a werewolf, alongside one-handed. Perhaps that's a myth though. But, yeah it explains why my armor rating was worse. Thanks!

Depends on you level in heavy armor and in light armor. If you light armor level is higher than your heavy armor, then it's possible.

ANA : basic armor rating 25
Hide Armor : basic armor rating 20.

Well, it still svcks, but I assume your hide armor had a better armor rating because you are much better with light armor than with heavy armor.

The base number svcks, but any armor can be upgraded to the cap if you know what to do.

They are an ingredient in forging nord hero armor, which is a bit better. Merely upgrading them with standard smithing is pointless.

There is no Nord Hero Armor.

At the Skyforge, you can forge "Ancient Nord" armor (in the daedric menu) or "Nord Hero" Weapon. (Draugr menu)
The Hero weapons require the Ancient Weapons, but not the Armor parts. You can just forge clean and not rusty versions of this crappy armor.

EDIT : the post I am replying to has been heavily edited ...

I would have been stupid if it were better in my opinion.
