And so it begins...

I guess this is the beginning of a pretty significant drought in information? Especially considering the fact that even the podcast with Todd Howard really didn't answer much at all. Yes, it answered a few questions about spears and things of that sort, but there was not any ground-breaking information. I'd like to know a lot more details about the gameplay. I don't really want to know anything about the story because I don't want that spoiled. But I'd like to know what changes have been made as far as gameplay is concerned.

We don't know. For all we know we could get more information out of this month than in January, who knows.

Pete Hines said it would be a "good month" via twitter. So I expect we will see SOMETHING in February.

At least I hope... :sadvaultboy:

Bethesda has indicated that they have a pretty steady release schedule for news, taking us all the way up to 11/11/11.

While, naturally, announcement is a big time, I expect other big magazines, (OXM, OPM, PCGamer, etc.) to get in on the action before too long.

Don't forget, too, that Beth is going to convert Elderscrolls.com back to it's normal self, while (I assume) updating all that luscious information inside about races, skills, etc.

What will be a "good month"? Until we see more information? I don't expect anything significant until e3. They may release some stuff in February but I'm sure it will not be anything that will answer specific questions we have.

Bethesda has indicated that the first gameplay videos will be in a month with an "r". Since E3 is in June (which does NOT have an "r"), and it is foolish to expect that Bethesda would not be at E3 without gameplay footage, it is expected it will be before that (also eliminating May, which means February, March, or April).

I think that people are reading too much into Hines' comments about showing video during a month with an "r" in it. I guess we'll see.

Haha. This particular community is known for reading waaayyy too much into tiny things. So, it could go either way.

The Podcast should have been Sale of the Century answer fast. Just stuff like What are the Skills? Are there Crossbows? How many guilds? Are the Cities seperate cells? What's fast travel like? What's Persuasion Like?

I think we could use some screenshots, particularly of other races and landscape. Since GI has had their month, they don't need a monopoly on the 12 they had, so I'm hoping we'll see more.

Lets not get pessimist here guys.

For a game that was announced in december, we've had a bunch of coverage on it in gameinformer already.

I Agree, the game is huge, which means that there is a lot to cover, but it was still quite a hefty chunk of information dropped on us in january. I still think that we should get more information, but I don't think that anything other than the game will please people at the moment. Once you open our mouths, we keep asking for more :D

So I've always kinda wondered, and as this topic is about the info being released in mags and such imma ask here. Do game companies/whatever get paid by the magazines/net sites and so on for the interviews and timed exclusives (like screen shots?) or is it done for free so the companies get some free advertisemant?

Well, first it gets their game out here for all to see. secondly it gets he gaming mags, website hits/subscribers to the magazines. and if lots of people are viewing their website, they can charge more for people to put up advertisemants on their site, thus making them money and getting the game out their and getting people pumped to buy and play it.

EDIT: but im not sure if the magazines like GI get paid/pay for the screen shots/exclusive interviews i doubt it though

I just remember Todd Howard saying that when they're ready to show the previously unannounced game they would have a lot to show. Well, yes we've seen some screens and now have some info but the majority of it is very vague. And in all honesty, we've not "seen" a lot of the game at all. I'd like to see many more screenshots, and as someone else stated, different races would be nice. The podcast, in my opinion was rather disappointing. There was not a whole lot of new information.

Bethesda is kind of busy doing this thing called making a video game.
Leave them alone for a while.
