1 and 2, or blade and blunt?

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 9:03 am

They apparently scrapped the idea of Blade and Blunt skills from Oblivion, and switched to the idea of One-handed and Two-handed skills. Which do you prefer?

I personally prefer Blades in general, but not so much claymores, so I don't really care.

How are you guys thinking about this?

Thanks!

They didn't scrap blade and blunt they just recatorigized them. With the perk tree system they basically are a sub skill of one-handed or two-handed skill that you can customize using perks. Along with mace, axe, etc. So under the perk tree system there technically will be more skills then before, they are just re-classified and re-structured.

One and Two Handed, are better because of the perk system and cause I just like it better.

i prefer longblade, shortblade, spear, blunt, axe, and marksman. but one hand/two hand is better than blade/blunt IMO. blade/blunt was an oversimplification and it didn't differentiate between axes and maces, but 1 hand/2 hand is a simplification that spawned the much more complex and individualized system of "perk trees".

I have NO OPINION, because I need to try out the 1 and 2 hand model first and then compare it to the ole tried and true BLADE BLUNT.

I didn't like the idea of the new system, because I thought it would make blade/blunt weapons irrelevant, but seeing how they'reorganised in the perk trees, I've changed my mind.

It's probably more likely that the introduction of the perks and the changes to melee and magic are what heralded the rearrangement of the skill set.

1 hand and 2 hand, because it opens up new possibilities in terms of what weapons are available.

Like Todd put it, one and two handed weapons are different plays styles, blunt/blade weren't very different. Especially with the perk-trees, you can still use other weapons but specialize in what you prefer or spread them evenly.

Like the idea of perks for individual weapons, but how do you assign a measure (numeric) of how good you are with the mace/axe if it is only a single "feat". Or will there be multiple weapon feats, such as Axe 25%, Axe 50%, Axe 75%, etc... Or will it just correspond to the number for "one-handed / two-handed"?

you do know that you can still specialise in blade and blunt right, its just through perks and not skills.

I prefer one handed - two handed idea and then specializing in different weapon types. (swords, daggers, maces, axes etc) . I never understood the idea of blunt weapons including axes. Atleast this makes sense more sense that that.

I was on the fence about the whole blade/blunt thing, so I though the idea of combining the skills even further would be terrible. But, I'd actually heard many people propose the one-handed/two-handed skill before it was even announced, and that couple with perks that will actually make the weapons more unique than they've ever been, makes this one of my favorite things I've heard about Skyrim.

I like the way the new system seems to be turning out. You can choose perks that help with whatever weapons you like to use, so you can focus on one handed blunt weapons, or two handed blades etc.

New system seems way better than the old one of MW and OB.

What i want to know is if double wielding weapons counts towards the 2handed skill or the one handed skill. Also, one handed weapons seem to have an enormous advantage over 2handed weapos because you can combine them with magic, shields and more. 2 handed weapons must have a huge advantage in melee combat i suppose.

Uncomplete poll.

1 handed is diferently handed than 2 handed (duh!) no matter what weapon.
Blunt and blade are difrently handed than each other (duh!)

So the game should treat these separatly (DUUHHH!)

More dumbing down for everyone, if you don t like it you probably know how to find and operate the door, be carefull not to trip exiting the shortbuss...

This poll is so nonsensical and full of spelling and grammar failures, it's painful. What the hell does it even mean?

Did you mean post? The poll makes sense. He's asking whether we like the new way they are handling combat skills.

I prefer one handed and two handed. With the perk trees we're going to be able to specialize far greater than ever before.

One-handed and Two-handed makes more sense logically and realistically. I mean don't you think a guy who wields nothing but shortswords would feel more at home wielding a one handed axe than a huge claymore?

Other than that, I'd prefer Morrowind's system. Oblivion's was just silly.
