...And here come the annoying players!

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 11:47 am

The only thing more annoying than exploiters are people that whine that every little thing is an exploit.

IT IS THOUGH!!! o-o...

To exploit is to use for one's own personal gain to move forward. So Techinically "" Anything you use to move forward in a game for yourself is an exploit. :grad:

I will say that hipfire does look effective. Also how did you get the game early?

Well, it looked to me like he was moving around for the sake of showing off movement, but there is nothing wrong with crouching when shooting, Hell, its a smart tactic, you minimize your silhouette and are less likely to get shot. Thats like saying "Ya, theres a platform up there where I can get an advantage on the enemy by using higher ground but I ain't gonna cause it ain't a fair fight unless I go toe to toe with the guy. "

In case you hadn't noticed that's actually a very popular sentiment. It's the heavy argument for radar and against silencers, snipers, prone, etc.

Popular doesn't mean good, or correct. Hell, if that were the sentiment of the developers there would be no class sizes or higher platforms to ambush the enemy from.

Absolutely agree. But to say "that's like saying" and follow it up with something that gets said way too often doesn't have that same "oomph".

If he's getting the aim bonus generally given for being crouched while bouncing up and down (like the bonus given with drop shotting or quickscoping) the mechanic needs tweaked so he isn't, but beyond that I don't see a problem with whatever you want to call that behavior.

Can we get off the subject of him exploiting something. He was just messin around havin fun. He was just crouching for the sake of crouching. He already said it. Please dont complain about something that wasent even happening.

The "annoying crouching" you mention is a legitimate tactic. If you'd played any of SD's previous games you would have most likely encountered it. It is simply another tactic in addition to straffing. Its not meant for long range, its meant for close up gunfights were anything you can do to keep your opponent from taking you down is invaluable. Although from the video, it appears as though it will probably only be useful to light body types as they can move faster. With the (I think he's a medium) in the video, he wasn't able to mix the straffing and crouching quickly enough for it to be extremely useful. Again though, its not a cheap tactic, its a smart one that if you've played this type of twitch shooter before, you should recognize. Its going to be fun seeing this new generation of gamers unfamiliar with the fps origins get schooled on the more old school gameplay mechanics hehe. Can't wait.

i take it I'm the only one that cant make out who's on who' team. but its only just released and it takes time to get to grips with the map lay out and stuff but i didn't see anything wrong with the way the guy was playing. only that he was just killing people so he must have had a really [censored] score at the end of the game. you dont get much xp for kills. its completing objectives that's gives you the most xp.

First, in case you hadn't noticed which thread you are in, this is about "annoying palyers" so people are going to discuss the topic, if you want no part of it by all means don't take part.

Second, quoting me for your comment was a poor choice since I'm not on the guy for acting like a goofball, and not complaining about what he's doing at all, I merely made an on topic hypothetical point about a game mechanic while in the midst of a side conversation.

Those are AI he is playing against, most likely medium difficulty. This will not be a successful tactic in multiplayer.

This isn't abusing anything, SD put crouching in the game. So he is doing what has been given to him, just a lot more then someone should crouch.

I don't see the problem with people who crouch spam in fire fights, do you expect them to stand there and let you hit them?

nothing was being exploited. there is no advantage to doing this. he was just having fun doing some random action. cmon you guys he already said what he was doing.

I think the guy is just a spaz. Simple as that. Still, I did have a kind of perverse desire to see him get his butt handed to him for being so twitchy. Nothing personal, it just irks me on some subconscious level for some reason. Still, I get the feeling that the whole crouching thing wouldn't work so well against players and/or bots that can aim well.

Yes, it is a legitimate technique. But I do think that putting a frequency limiter on crouching might not be such a bad thing...You know, slow down the crouching and standing speed.

Apology accepted.

But while his intentions were to demonstrate fun and movement and hipfire, it does raise the question that if that possibility is there does crouching at that speed give any aim advantage. It didn't look like it based on video, but I would love to know for sure.

I don't think so. It's a little hard to tell due to the low quality of the video, but I don't think his reticule got any smaller while he was crouched.

Yeah Ive been trying to see if I could replicate that and that is the best I could do so far. It's decently effective even against real people although I don't know if those people were that good.

Maybe it'll work with the light body type. I miss the quick crouch strafe battles. Still throwing in a random crouch never hurts even if it's slow.

eeeeeeeeewwwww......are u serious? I'm the spaz lol?! So you want to slow the game down? How about this....practice your movement and you will be rewarded with a skill gap. maybe I should make a video with me standing still using the sights the whole time. How exciting.

I got news for you...if that is how you are planning on playing....be prepared to get owned by fast players that Hipfire. You always have COD right?

I am pretty sure he was on defense, defending the crane, could be wrong though that's just what I got. Confirmation from anyone would be appreciated

Please. I'm not a CoD fan. Ask anybody. I want Brink to be very, very fast. Hectic, frantic, chaotic, all those cool words. All I actually meant was that the crouch speed looked too fast. Not from a gameplay perspective per se, but just from a visual perspective. It looked weird, even for Brink. I don't want to see a bunch of people bobbing up and down at light speed. That doesn't speed up gameplay at all.

I wasn't trying to start a fight or anything, just half-jokingly noting that you seemed kinda hyper. Sorry about wanting to see you die though. That was kinda mean. I didn't really mean it. You just reminded me of this guy I know of who drop-shots and jumps at every single opportunity, even when he doesn't need to because the enemy is facing the other direction or whatever. Doesn't really make me mad, I just can't help but think "Why can't you just shoot the guy without all the acrobatics?"
