EU and NA server choices

Post » Mon Mar 24, 2014 6:29 am

there is a reason these servers are split. I see EU people talking about playing on the NA servers, and NA people talk about playing on the EU servers. Please dont be that person. you just lag out the other servers.

if you live in EU, play on EU. If you live in NA play in NA.

the skill levels will be the same regardless to what you might think, NA guilds are not better then EU guilds, we seen this in many games like guild wars 1, etc.

EU will have just as strong guilds as NA and vice versa. And if you play on the wrong server, you are just putting yourself at a disadvantage.

I recomend you start with your designated server, and see how that goes before you even think about rolling on the other.

personally I think the NA servers are going to be a lot more annoying then the EU servers because NA is going to be full of a lot of no class US scrub nubs. (yes I live in USA and we all seen this in other games)

the biggest problem comes into the big sieges, and this is where the lag happens, if you are on the orrect server you will see less lag, so please roll your characters on the correct servers.

What if you live in EU but don't like to see other languages than English spammed in the chat?

Considering both servers are based in the US right now anyway, you can bet any European who hates seeing non English typed in chat or has many friends across the pond will be playing on NA.

turn off chat? honestly most of the time on the NA servers I wish people were spamming other languages I could not read lol

the ammount of immaturity and idiocy on the NA servers is always legendary....

I still think its best you roll on the designated server for the playerbase and for the game play. If all the EU people roll on NA it will be a lag fest at big battles, just as if all the NA people rolled on the EU ones. There is a reason they seperate these servers by location. EU servers will most likely be migrated to EU soon after launch.

I have seen some self centered comments on these boards, in the short time I been using them. This takes the prize.

Where do you get off telling people what server they should play on, when it is clearly a choice? Your xenophobia of what *may* happen to YOUR PvP is not others priority. No, should it be.

which svcks because it just lags out the NA servers and make the game crappy for all the rest.

I have read somewhere recently, sorry can't remember where, that the way things are set up the lag issue should not be as much an issue as you think. It is possible for NA to play on EU and vice versa with little issue.

As a side note. When I was playing EVE, I played with guys from all over the world on the server I was on. and lag rarely played into things.

nothing self centered about this, maybe you dont read to well or understand what I said? I just said there is a reason there is a NA and EU server. Its best to pick the right one for the best game play. I didnt say you couldnt I just said you should try playing on the correct server befroe you jump ship to the other one.

and its not just about MY pvp, it is a whole sever. I dont know why EU people would want to even play on the NA server you are putting yourself at a huge disadvantage.

roll on NA, I dont care, I will be owning your lagfest az. count on it.

I was under the impression (given by Zenimax) that there weren't any European servers at launch. Although there are some designated as EU (with the intention to move later), they are located in North America.

Tell me again how we'll be lagging them out.

Last I read, the Developers are planning on having the EU server up for launch.

The EU server will be up for launch, but will be in the US to begin with. They will be migrating it to EU at a later date.

When the servers them selves were not lagging due to stress testing NA was perfectly playable for me. I was not lagging nor was i stuttering about for NA players. I know this because i played with a couple in a group. Don't worry though, I've already migrated to the EU server as most of my buddies are on EU.

I live in the UK, but I'll be playing on the NA server, because of the larger, more predominantly English speaking community. Had absolutely no problem with connections/lag, other than the lag experienced across the board in Cyrodiil.

Yes, it is self serving. And pretending you are doing it for others benefit, and what you want is for the good of a whole server, and for others is textbook narcissism. I see it every time I turn the news on lately, to hear some politician or business leader, or some such play that card.

Having said that for myself, I may only play occasionally with friends on NA server for PvE questing purposes. But, as you have been told the lag did not happen to the extent you claim during beta. In fact this as documented in the emails we got about the beta feedback.

Usually posts similar to yours OP go up on every MMO game forum pre launch, claiming the extent is way worse than it is in reality. But, this time it seems to have been well established, lag was negligible. What did they do different? No idea. Though I feel it lends to the debate, it may not be the issue it is claimed it is by a minority anyway.

Thank you for giving us Europeans an excuse to not blame the almighty American developers of the game if the game will lag. No, it will be the Americans that are not smart enough to pick the correct server.

Although I am personally planning on using the EU servers, this statement is not actually correct. There is a major advantage to rolling on the NA servers in that the chat will be predominantly english (or at least a close approximation). The zone chat in EU beta was a heady mix of English, German, French, Spanish and, I believe at one point, Martian.

Such a bold statement for someone who from the looks of it, has no real technical understanding how networking and load distribution work in these games...

and yea, I addressed both if you read my comments, this was not an attack on EU people. I actually find EU people much more respectful and enjoyable then the NA people. I would rather roll on EU to be honest because of all the asshats on the NA side, trust me.

however, my post was just about the fact why we have 2 servers. one for EU one for NA, I just suggested you all try your home servers before you roll on another. I didnt single out EU, I said this to the NA people also.

people here can cry and try to call me selfish or what ever that scub was trying to whine about, but its kinda common sense. NA for na peps, EU for EU people. I have no problem with EU people rollin on NA because you instantly give me an advantage over you since I have a much lower ping.

I dont think its good for NA people to roll on EU either because like I said the servers are seperated for a reason. People want to think NA is going to be better, but that is laughably false, there are plenty of EU guilds that can curbstomp the best of the NA guilds on any given day.

dont take this personal or to heart, if you play with an NA guild and you live in EU, well I dont expect you not to roll with your guild. I was just saying for the majority of the population, you want to roll on the correct servers. I know its like rocket science to people these days, but it is amazing how many people will roll on the wrong servers for false reasons.

and all I said was try your home server first, this was addressed to both EU and NA players, so please dont whine to me about me being selfish, that is just your pea brain not being able to comprehend the topic at hand.

I guess the favorite guild is also a big factor (supposing the lag problem is negligible). What I'd like to know if we can transfer a character from EU to NA or NA to EU, or once a character is made it's locked on that server...

Brilliant, how did not all of us came to that conclusion ourselves?

What if someone has friends in the US he wants to adventure with?

What if someone's old guild has a US only chapter and he wants to stick with them?

What if someone temporary resides in Europe and plans to go back to the US in the near future and doesn't want to start over?

What if someone works on odd hours and while living in Europe, actually plays on times that correlate more to US timezone ?

And there are probably dozens more reasons why someone would want to do that. So Please....

You can turn them off? And if you think NA will have no other languages speaking you're seriously wrong.
