To whomever it may concern as well as anyone else that is interested.....
I'm a really,REALLY big Fallout fan like most of you that are probably reading this post.I mean,Fallout 3 blew my mind all over the F'in room and Vegas is certainly an excellent follow up. Everything about it too:the art, story, design of the levels and characters, music. There's just nothing out there like it,am I right?!?! Its got so many great features from some of the best games ever made such as the "free roaming environment" like grand theft auto, role playing similar to(and I hate to compare it to this cuz i'm really not a big fan of this game at all)World of Warcraft(or dragon warrior if you're as old as I am =), and an EXCELLENT first person shooter feel like doom just to name one(tho there are indeed many). The players interactions with other characters in the game and the choices that he/she makes along the way actually have an effect on the ending and how the rest of the world views you which is just UNREAL.I've been playing video games of every kind and across all different types of platforms for quite some time now and tho there have been some that have stuck out in my memory a lot more than others, tho there's never been one with that same feel as the Fallout series has.I have yet to play the first or 2nd yet being as 3 and vegas have taken up so very much of my life but it is indeed on my to do list even tho they are a bit older. I cant even imagine the amount of time, money, effort, and just shear imagination that must've gone into creating something like this. Here's the BUT part tho.........
As amazing as the fallout(s) have been,I'm almost equally as amazed at the number of bugs and hellaciously frustrating glitches that 3 and New Vegas both suffer from. I mean, Fallout 3 got so bad at one point that the game was nearly considered to be unplayable and the fact that another Fallout game that is nearly identical and runs off the same engine was released chocked full of problems is just insane. Now,I know not everyone is having problems like this.Only about 90% from what i've read. But just how in the hell could this possibly happen again?!?! I know Vegas isn't quite as bad with the malfunctions as 3 is from the gameplay that I have thusfar experienced, but IMO it should be almost non existent. I know i'm just a gamer and not a computer programmer or anything.I'm sure deadlines have to be met and somethings just left the way they are etc etc etc. But this thing is STILL locking up on a fairly consistent basis JUST LIKE Fallout 3 did and, ultimately, isn't it the opinion of the gamer that really matters most??? Did the folks at Bethseda not listen and understand what the issues and problems were the first time around?! It starts to make you think that money and quantity are of more importance than quality after a while,ya know. Maybe its a good thing tho because if all of those numerous problems weren't there and if those GOD AWFUL LOAD TIMES were at least cut in half, then I'd probably never leave the house LOL! I think it,in a way, says a lot that despite how problematic Fallout has been(is) that its still has the fanbase and the following that it does.If the game was just pretty good AND had all these issues than nobody would have had the time or patience for it. Im well aware that its a really big program and a lot of things can go wrong but, cmon Bethseda,I KNOW that you've got to know better than this. Just expressing my feelings on the matter. You may or may not agree with me but one thing is for sure and thats that i'm speaking from the heart. If there happens to be anyone out there that can give me a good, solid reason as to why this thing is still riddled with bugs then I am certainly all ears. Until then,I guess we in the Fallout community are going to keep doing what we've been doing which is continuing to play whilst praying it'll get better and saving the game every 5 to 10 minutes so we dont have to "do it over again". Thanks for listening,
P.Tibbets

Shhhh, they'll hear you Paul..don't make the "Moderators"upset or they'll lock your post down like they did to mine.I went on a similar..err,rant,for lack of words a while back about this abomination of a game and got cut off at the knees for it. I too rather enjoy the Fallout universe as well as it's cousin Elder Scrolls:Oblivion, but this game is nearing the point of unplayable right now. A killer for me is the what I call the "ever loading- loading screen" which happens in about 5-10% of the transitions between areas, you hit the door trigger or the fastwalk trigger and boom, take a nap or read the loading screen hints for a while before--or if it loads. Now 5-10% dosen't sound like a lot,but it is considering how many times you go in a cave or thru a door or fastwalk to one area or another during the course of a play session(or between freezes I should say),it is a lot.And then we have the downright programmer oopsies.Mods on unique weapons equals random strange effects, dead creatures coming back to life and regenerating equipment you looted recently while still being listed as 4ex:" Search Burned Body"-while they're still running around and fighting Cazadores?? BIG pieces of terrain missing(Cottonwood Crater--look right thru the mountain to The Strip)Jumping from lv7-lv9 and losing out on a perk because of it.Invisible stairway to heaven off a rock down by the Dam.Or quests that your doing leading nowhere because things aren't there that should be(Oh My Papa).Or useless items in your inv that won't go away after quests(Bag of coins,NCR radio parts,Motor-Runner's Helmet(which isn't so bad because u can use it but I wear better and I'd rather it be in my safe with all my other unique items that I hoard)so many things)Oh,so many..so little time. The quantity is there,in spades, amazing amount of content in this(these) games, but what's that without quality right? And what can we accomplish even writing these posts as we are? Are they going to actually play their own game and discover the bugs and glitches for themselves and patch them? Maybe, but not all. Are they going to remember these problems for the next game and keep this from happening again? No,they don't care. Are they going to reimburse us slightly--even a couple bucks on the PSN network via a free DLC? HELL NO,they got their money-screw us little peons who bought this test version of the game. It's our fault really. We trusted them and got slapped as a result.90% of the games being almost unplayable is just wrong.I'm actually on here right now because I was bored after my game ever-loaded 3 times in an hour and I shut it off and watched Into the Universe on Discovery Channel, then came on here after that was over because I dread going back to that game. But,I will, because I'm an addict despite the probs it is a good game.I mean, there's nothing quite like gankin' a Ghoul or a Fiend from 1/2 a klick away with the Scoped Hunting Rifle...yessir,I'm a sick bastard. Unfortunatly when I do that I get no xp because I'm LV 30 already and no upgrade DLC in sight.I really have nothing to work for now.I was actually trying NOT to level up during the last 5 just to milk it longer. Oh well. I still don't get the cap being 30 and 100 perks to choose from of which you can only take 15. Why not 50 lvls and less xp to drag it out? Guess they never thought of that. Well off I go to that damn game,to load the last of my 11 save files and play for 20 mins before it ever-loads or freezes. Hope you get a response from someone important in Beth/Obs explaining why but don't hold your breath. Sigh, back to Fallout...

They must hear things like this quite a bit if administrators are going so far as to ban folks from there forum for informing them about issues with their products.A lot of the particular complaints you're having I have also experienced tho I was gonna try to refrain from siting specific instances cuz I had said a mouthful already =P I can only relate the last couple of Fallout games to a Ferarri covered in Brahmin poo with a cracked windshield.I mean bra, its a Ferarri! Just put in the extra effort and clean the poo, replace the windshield, and give her a good wax and you got one of the best cars on the planet. Ya see the connection there? I'm sure you agree that Fallout is truly one of the best games you've played in your life.I think a lot of people would agree with that and thats one of the biggest compliments I could ever give especially since there are so many video games to choose from nowadays.Certainly tho, this is not a finished product.Rather a "test version" more or less such as you put it.Vegas is still playable tho for the most part unlike the DLC(s) for Fallout 3 which had me throwing my PS3 across the room! But after paying money(which is getting scare for most people as of late) for the next installment of a game(Vegas) thats having IDENTICAL issues, yeah i guess you could say i'm a bit heated. Makes me wonder if ALL the consoles/PC version are having these same probs..... But ya know talon,I think the main reason why folks like you and I pointlessly voice our opinions via these forums is because of how awesome this gaming experience is or rather can be for people such as ourselves.I'm sure you can relate when I say that playing fallout puts you in another world. One in which you're not bothered with petty issues such as going to work or paying the water bill, but of trying to survive in the wasteland! A major glitch, freeze up,or obscenely long load time in that experience tho is like an actor breaking character in a movie:IT JUST RUINS THE ILLUSION. I don't expect anything free or even a discount for having to tolerate it.I just want it to work.DONT CHANGE ANYTHING ELSE.Just fix the problems.IM NOT NEEDLESSLY COMPLAINING. Hell,I think I just said that Fallout was one of the best games ever made, didn't I? But the difference between "one of the" and "THE" best is just a wash and a wax. I certainly don't want the good people at Bethseda to take this the wrong way. I'm a huge fan and will probably always be.Just give the people what they want and what they deserve for being so patient/faithful. Do me a favor talon and snipe a deathclaw for me mmmk. =D

I agree 100% with these posts. Like most of you I too struggle with playing a great, but dealing with all the bugs, and freezing. Yet like an addict I can't quit. Their is nothing more frustrating than investing many hours in a game, and force to start over because of a glitch. I pre-ordered this game so I could get the weathered 10mm pistol, which I can't use without a big red triangle and white explanation point showing up on screen messing up my view. I love Fallout, but this seems to be Fallout 3 with different map. Why couldn't they fix or replace the old engine this game runs on. It's like watching a youtube video on dial-up.
