TES graphics have never been that impressive. Consoles aren't "holding them back", there are plenty of console games with much prettier graphics than TES. TES has always been aimed at midrange hardware. Their games have always been about world building and design over graphics.

Skyrim is a massive improvement over Oblivion, what more could you expect?

Mods can make improvements, texture packs stop things looking blurry close up, some post processing stuff can look alright (some of them are pretty bad too tbh) and little things like enhanced night sky and sunglare mods can add a nice touch.

Some of the morrowind/oblivion mods made the games look much better. Especially after the graphics began to look dated.

The game looks fantastic imo. I'm not too bothered about graphics mods at this stage, especially not if they decrease performance.

well i lied, im actually playing on the PC on a 40 inch lcd hdtv 1080p

I just wanted to see the PC [censored] comment on how bad PC graphics looked maxed and with all the texture improving mods, oh and all the ini tweaks to max it.

You're a real peace of cake. That screen looks like [censored]. So, in the end you just confirmed you're the idiot you've made yourself out to be in this thread. Now, back to your moms basemant.

No i haven't that's why i said that. Leave the graphics as they are, there is no way in improving them on whole. Without suffering from said mod failing in little aspects, and making the game look like a children's coloring book. The graphics in Skyrim on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 are fantastic and the theme is spot on, no need to fix something if it isn't broke.

A good example of a mod done right was the Graphics Extender. It made the game really come alive while keeping with Morrowinds style for the most part. Really was amazing once you got it all setup and running right. I think there are videos on youtube about it too.

If graphics are all that matter to you then cool, yes PC is obviously going to be better.

But I think it looks brilliant on my PS3.

Will get a PC version later for mods, nto so I can make better graphics.

Graphics changing mods tend to take away from the game in my opinion and are incredibly rude and obnoxious.

Yeah when the game looks better its so rude and obnoxious

And compared to what a high-end PC can do, it looks bad.

I luv my PC (nothing beats the mouse/kb for playing a Bow weilding assassin)....but

a $2,000 - $3,000 high end PC vs. a $300 PS3.... I have both the PS3 version and PC... Im always amazed at how Devs optimize games for consoles that have technology that is 3-4 years old.

Your screenshot has a real lack of shadows going on. My PC version looks extremely more detailed in that same shot.

Overall, yes, the game looks fantastic. However, if you get down and dirty, you will see many instances of texture quality inconsistencies. Like a loaf of bread looks amazing, but the table its sitting on looks bleh compared to the bread.

So while the game does indeed look awesome, it was just a bit disappointing to see some individual things with really poor textures.

It's true. I've got both Xbox and PC versions. While Xbox comes out slightly ahead of PS3 "note: Not bashing PS3, got one of those too. :)", PC blows them both away. Even so, If you take into account how good it does look on consoles minus here and there and then add in the shear size and depth of the game it makes up for it. Once they patch both console and PC issues up better it's a win win for anyone on any platform.

yeah dont bash their mods. they tend to be rather proud of the fact.

even though i own both a pc and ps3 copy. i never found any good mods for oblivion, even the awesome graphics changing mods had their bugs and flaws. but i do love ps3 play much more.

You never found any good mods for Oblivion?? Kinda hard to beleive

Just as many haters flood in as well.

The difference between the two? The PC people are actually correct, and it actually does look and run better on PC on a factual basis.

The graphics aren't so much bad as they are limited (*cough*console*cough*)

And seriously, the OP screenshot looks like Mount and Blade. Not a compliment (M&B is a good game, it's just not renowned for its cutting edge graphics),

yes, if you have an xbox or a PS3 the game probably looks good. But I will bet people who complain about how bad the textures in the game are, are mostly people playing on PC.

The game looks terrible, the textures are 1024x1024 for the most part with a lot of 512x512 thrown in (from what I have heard). Not an acceptable level of quality on the PC as far as im concerned.

this is without the mod, (the mod takes 2 versions of the ss each time you make one, one with mod applied, one without in order to show diff.) It just adds saturation, bloom, and technicolor for the most part, makes fire look awesome

More like choosing between buying a new car, or a car from 2006.

yup, they claim it looks so much more amazing on PC, but they see a screen shot for a console and think its from a PC, they cant tell the difference
