ATHOS space station

It was a normal day at Athos. Nothing terribly interesting, aside from keeping watch over the OH. Knight Sterling had been assigned to the communications relay, a job he liked. Nothing terribly exciting, but it had it's moments.

That was all about to change though.

Sterling had been monitoring the various communications coming and going between Athos and the Brotherhood's mainland when a strange pinging sound went off on his console. He glanced down at the screen. Something was downloading, source seeming to be an old Pre-War NASA satellite. A message appeared suddenly. It read: "S.O.S! Please Respond!"

That's never happened before... what's going on? What's this message?

"Command, this is Knight Sterling. We have intercepted what seems to be a distress signal from a left over satellite. It broke through the communications block we have set up. Possibly CIA. Can I get a conformation?"

"Knight Sterling, this is command. Orders are to open it up. We need to know exactly what was so important that it was able to break through the communications block. You're clear to access the file."

Sterling shouted his response, and opened the file. His eyes widened in shock as the audio log played.

---static---

"This is Paladin Kyle Martin from the Rogue Brotherhood. We split off from Maxson's main group not long ago, searching for the key to make the Brotherhood able to protect this forsaken world. Our search took us to the far reaches of the North. We've found it. It's some sort of data the U.S was working on...." The Paladin's voice was racked with anxiety as he spoke. He stopped suddenly.

A large boom was heard.

"There isn't much time! We are under attack by... someone. Or something. It has anti-air capabilities. We scanned the area, we can't find the source. No AA guns. It's coming for us... It wants the data! The data said something about about this data containing the key to victory over China. Said the Reds wouldn't stand a chance once it's complete. We don't know what it is, we were attacked as soon as we found the disk the data is contained on. We lost half our numbers..."

Another Explosion. Gunshots. Screams.

"It's here?! No... we can't... Listen. This data must be recovered. We will not survive this. Whatever this "thing" is, whoever they are, they want this data. I'm uploading this message to a satellite we gained access to. Please... avenge our deaths. This is Paladin Kyle Martin, Brotherhood of Steel. Know that we all fought to the very last for the Brotherhood. End Transmission."

---static---

Command went silent. Suddenly, the head officer spoke.

'Get Archlord Alan and Patriarch Traven immediately. They must know of this."

City of Steel: Palace of the Arch-Lord

The morning sun shone upon the City of Steel, making the great city appear golden. ANGELs as well as armored troopers patrolled the streets , keeping the peace. The hustle and bustle of the civilians was in full swing, the various portions of the town abuzz with news of the Trinity going to war with the OH. The general assumption was the OH would be destroyed soon.

In the center of the massive city, on a plateau of sorts, stood the grand Palace of the Arch-Lord, home to Lord Alan Burns and his family.

Inside the large courtroom upon their thrones, Alan and his lovely life Illyana awaited. Various guards were everywhere, ranging from Jeremiah and the royal guard to elite PSICOM soldiers, all prepared to defend the Arch-Lord and his lady with their lives.

Alan's face was accented by the bright morning sun, his smile radiant as he looked lovingly upon his wife.

"Well, today is the day! Given that rather... disturbing transmission Athos intercepted, I'm glad we will finally be taking care of it. Though I wish I could have these soldiers for the invasion... No matter! Colonel Talon will be more than enough to handle it. Good call on let the children sleep by the way. All this talk of war may upset the little ones." Alan beamed.

Illyana blushed as she usually did. She was always so quiet. Even after many years being married to Alan, she still was this way. In some ways, Alan loved it. She was a great listener, and a even better wife and mother. Alan could not love her more.

" Mhmm. Yes Lord Alan. It was a rather...unsettling broadcast. Oh I hope those poor men didn't suffer..." Illyana said, thoughtful as ever. She didn't even notice she called Alan "Lord" again.

Alan laughed. " It's not "Lord Alan" with you remember? Anyway, whatever... "it" was that attacked them, these soldiers I'm bringing in will be more than a match for it. Vengeance will be wrought upon the fiends!" Alan said enthusiastically, making great movements and gestures with his arms, trying to make his wife smile again.

She chuckled softly and beamed back at him.

"Right... sorry "dear". Sometimes it's hard to believe I'm married to the fabled Lord of Steel himself. Anyway, I hope your right. I worry about their safety. Do you think it's wise for Xane to lead them? Xane is such a good boy, but I fear for his sanity." Illyana said, softly voicing her concerns.

"Yes, I'm sure Xane will prove to be a great leader for the group. He's a good man at heart, and I've kept a close eye on many of the pilots going with him, they'll be sure to bring him back down to Earth should he go... insane. I do wonder about Viola though. This war with the OH can't be sitting well with her."

Illyana sighed. "Yes... I do worry for her. This war has got to be hard on her. Poor thing..."

Alan smiled at her, trying to lift his wife's spirits. "She'll be ok. She's a Brotherhood elite after all! I'm sure she'll be fine...'

The giant in power armor next to Alan spoke. Jeremiah.

"Terribly sorry Lord Alan and Lady Illyana, but the soldiers will be arriving soon."

Both Lord and Lady nodded and awaited their soldiers.

(My pilot Xane will appear later once more people arrive.)

Alistair Wright - The City of Steel - Palace of the Arch-Lord Exterior - Morning

A beautiful morning welcomed the illustrious pilot as he strolled through the capital of his glorious nation, his near-weightless white overcoat blowing gently in the wind. He'd been summoned by the Arch-Lord of the Brotherhood to fight for his people, ready to use his greatest ally to vanquish a new and extremely dangerous enemy. This summoning meant he would be slated to travel a great distance away to a new land. Alistair was proud and wore his air of importance and refinement as exuberantly as he could without making a fuss. Citizens gawked at him, recognizing his face from videos and posters, everybody knew " The Red Swordsman " as he'd been named. They dared not approach him, knowing he didn't have time for them, nor the patience. He was respected and generally well-liked, though very few commoners had ever spoke to him. The media had portrayed him as a gallant hero, a man to fight an enemy to the death then romanced a woman the next, at the end shaking hands with the people and kissing babies.

Alistair chuckled softly at these notions when he was told this. The citizens didn't know him very well it seemed. He'd only ever had eyes for his loving and beloved wife, she was the perfect woman for him. All others, to him, were tasteless and petty, trying to seduce and control men. Clara had always been a bright one, matching her husband's intelligence at every turn and keeping him down to earth when his ego inflated. This was even before their courtship. From the moment they met she'd pulled the future-pilot in with her wit and spunk. But her's was not obnoxious and overly-apparent as other women's. It was soft and usually disguised as something else. The subtlety was the deal-maker for Alistair. Their relationship was shaky at first, he'd never been the one for romance or extended human interaction but she drew out all his best qualities and made his off-putting ones seem trivial. It was thanks to Clara that he grew emotionally and had someone to be a person with, he never had the chance for either outside of her arms. Her forwardness was what allowed them to be together in the first place, she'd been the one to make her feelings known through her constant presence. After being together for years, Alistair proposed, to both their delights. Both families were overjoyed and gave their blessings without hesitation.

The rest may as well be true, save for the myth of his personable attitude. He possessed the necessary skills but found no need. The Master Pilot had the Knight and his wife, that was all he needed. Few other things mattered. Although, pleasing the higher echelons of his nation was one of those things, along with making sure everyone knew he was their superior. Soon he neared the palace of the Arch-Lord, passing through the entrance by flashing his face at the guards. They bowed to the white figure and allowed him passage. Alistair waltzed through the grand structure, knowing exactly where to go to meet his liege for the briefing. It took only a few minutes of navigating the palace to find the throne-room, the throne itself occupied by Lord Burns, beside him was his beautiful wife. The ANGEL pilot moved gracefully towards them with a content grin on his face, looking at the ground as he approached.

At the end of the room, Alistair took a knee at the foot of Alan's throne, he looked up to the Lord and smiled at him. " My Lord, my Lady. I have received your summons and I am here to serve in the full-capacity of my person. Whatever task you require of me shall be completed posthaste, just give the word. " He spoke in his distinct British accent as suavely and confidently as possible.

A lone sound caught his ear's attention. The staccato of heel-clicks as someone approached. The pilot knew the sound anywhere. Over the years of being together, he'd been around his wife so much he could identify almost any sound she made. Alistair knew the sound of her walk even and he rose, looking back with a puzzled face. Clara was walking towards him in an extravagant white dress, her face was was bright and sunny as usual. But there was something he could never imagine to see on her face, tears. The pilot moved to meet her, swiftly reaching her and taking her hands.

Clara's gaze met his and she smiled, a tear rolling down her cheek. Alistair returned her gesture and squeezed her hand. " My love, why are there tears on your lovely face? Is something wrong? "

His wife laughed softly and her hand left his and found the side of his face, she caressed it slowly. " No my dear, no. Nothing is wrong. But something is very right. "

" What may that be, Clara? It must be very important if you followed me all the way here. " Their eyes peered into each other's intently.

Clara kissed him and more tears came down her cheeks. " It is my love. You're going to be a father. "

Alistair's heart soared to the highest heights it'd ever seen, next to his wedding day. He was going to be a father! Elation washed over him and he hugged his wife to his body, tears finding his face as well. Not since Clara was made his wife had he been so ecstatic. " That's wonderful! We've tried for so long, finally we'll have our own child to cherish and love. Oh Clara I love you so much, I cannot wait to see our beautiful baby. You'll be the the perfect mother. "

His wife cried a little more and gave him a few big kisses on his cheeks and his lips. " And you'll be the perfect father, my love. "

Alistair turned her to face Lord Burns and Lady Illyana who watched on, he showed them his stunning wife. " Lord and Lady, this is my wife, Clara. I'm sorry to have this moment among you but I haven't known a moment so joyous in a long while. Forgive us, if you would. My wife and myself cannot effectively hold our happiness inside. " The pilot smiled at them and squeezed Clara closer.

Shaun Elijah "Eli"

The capital was beautiful, he'd received many missions here, but he'd never actually been there on leave, and now he was here on leave, the shifting deserts of the Mid West no longer his home, the city's grand steps were so alien to him. I guess I could go the bar... no, now's not the time to get drunk. I need to breathe...
He took his helmet off
I should probably check on Boo...
He continued onward towards the machine bay, where he was promptly asked for clearance, he just gave them a sarcastic stare and handed the woman his helmet
Daft [censored]
"Where'd you put it?"
They motioned towards the left wing
There's Boo... looking as fit as possible
"Now I can leave, just checking on it..." He then proceeded to the briefing, walking quickly and lost in his memories, finally he had arrived
"So... what's the job?"

Michael "Zero" Osbourne- Outskirts of the City of Steel

Michael was sitting outside of the city thinking like usual. He laid back and began petting his dog, Killer. He thought about his past and how people used to pick on him.

He grabbed a rock and wrote one of his bully's names on it. He threw the rock up high and far, and he pulled out his LAER rifle. He took a shot and disintegrated the rock. This was one of the many ways he relieved stress.

He was laying down again when he remembered he had to meet the ArchLord. He quickly got up and ran back to the city. He ran to his house and got in more formal wear.

Then he ran to the ArchLord's Palace. When he arrived he was panting and said, "Sorry... I... I'm late."

Paladin-Commander Joseph Redfield- Entrance to the ArchLord's Palace

As he walked the steps up the ArchLord's palace in his blue Paladin-Commander robes, Redfield considered the implications of his summons. He had been debriefed by his Paladin-Lord superior concerning an operation "vital to the Brotherhood" as ArchLord Burns had apparently called it, but he had no idea what that could mean.

Strange, what could warrant the summoning of the best ANGEL pilots in the Brotherhood? Especially with the threat of war looming?

Putting aside his questions on what this mission had in store for him, he focused instead on the here and now. Meeting the ArchLord of the Brotherhood was certainly an honor. He had only seen the man at a distance or during state ceremonies, never had he actually talked to him before though. He hoped the slight nervousness he felt would not become apparent.

As he reached the end of the stairs, he let out a deep exhale, those steps had been a bit more tiresome that he had expected. He had been stationed on the Athos for quite some time and had only recently been given a term of leave. While the ATHOS's artificial gravity prevented much of the ill-effects of prolonged stay in space from becoming magnified; none the less he had to readjust himself to earth's gravity. It took some getting use to that's for sure.

Entering the Palace, the Paladin-Commander looked around in amazement at what he beheld. Such magnificent splendor. He expected nothing less from the ArchLord however. Turning away from the ornaments and decor, he began studying the individuals assembling in front of the throne of the ArchLord. Some of them he thought he knew and others whose faces were fresh to him.

Instinctively, the Paladin-Commander came up to the throne and kneeled before it in reverence to the AchLord,

"ArchLord Burns, I am Paladin-Commander Joseph Redfield. I have been sent by Paladin-Lord Gottfried to answer the summons you put out."

City of Steel: Palace of the Arch-Lord

As Alan and Illyana talked some more, Allistair entered and bowed before them.

Alan and Illyana both smiled at him. Alan spoke.

"Ah! The great Red Swordsman of the Brotherhood! I'm glad your here Alistair. Your the first to arrive it seems." Alan greeted. He was about to say more, but as the pilot bowed a woman ran up to him. Apparently that was Alistair's wife. And she was pregnant. Alan and Illyana silently watched the little exchange, both noting the joy on the new parents' faces. Illyana suddenly hugged Alan, crying as memories of their own child flooded her mind. Alan smiled at her and hugged her back, wiping away a tear from his own eye. He definitely hadn't lost touch with his emotional side.

Alistair apologized quickly for the sudden interruption, but Alan just laughed.

"Think nothing of it my good man! Truly, this is a joyous occasion! Congratulations from us both to you. If you two ever need help, we would be more than happy to do so. Now, where is Xane..." Alan said, losing himself in thought. Illyana nudged him slightly to get his attention again. She smiled at him and leaned in to kiss him on the cheek. Alan suddenly wished his to see his own children, the memories of Illyana being pregnant flooding him again.

We could have another. Why not? Hmm...

Alan thoughts were interrupted by the entrance of two more of his warriors. He welcomed them.

"Welcome my soldiers, welcome! I'm glad you all made it. Do not worry Zero, your actually early." Alan said.

Xane Straza

Xane stepped out of the Emperion, cursing himself for being late. How could he be late the Arch-Lord's meeting? Xane, the one named the greatest pilot of the Brotherhood by the Arch-Lord himself, late. He should be demoted, no worse! Killed! How dare he?!

My audacity! Yes. Punishment should be put upon me. I am a fool and a wretch. Lord Alan, Lady Illyana, I hope you find it in your hearts to forgive a young fool.

Xane hastily walked down the Palace's halls, not really paying attention to where he was going. He had been led by the Arch-Lord down these halls so many times, it was second nature. Xane was busy fine tuning the systems, doing a weapons check, and things of that various nature, and once he got into it, time got away from him. He hadn't even had time to change into his formal wear...

Xane decided enough was enough and sprinted down the hall towards the Throne Room.

Finally he arrived.

As he got there, he noticed people were already there, as well and the Arch-Lord and he wife. Xane's stomach felt like it was getting twisted in knots.

He walked quickly up to the throne and knelt down on his knees beside Joseph.

"Milord... Milady.... I am sorry I am late. I beg your forgiveness sir. Time slipped away as I..."

Alan interrupted, laughing at Xane's apology.

"Think nothing of it Xane. Your perfectly on time. Glad to see you my boy." Alan said with a smile. Xane nodded gratefully and rose. He walked over to where the others were congregating.

That just left Paladin-Commander Redfield. Alan and Illyana both nodded at him to rise.

"Paladin Commander Redfield. I am pleased to see you've made it. I do fhope you find the City of Steel to your liking. It's a grand place isn't it? Adjusting to the gravity ok? I've heard many good things about you, and you come highly recommended. This is very good, as the Brotherhood is in need of it's finest. I will explain more once everyone has arrived. Good to have you here Paladin, and pleased to make your acquaintance. Anyone who comes recommended from Paladin Commander Gottfried is one I can trust. Of this I am certain. Good to have you with us soldier." Alan said with a warm smile.

City of Steel: Palace of the Arch-Lord

Alan looked over at one of the other men that showed up. He faintly recalled the man's name, Shaun Elijah. The man walked up and saluted. If Alan was a typical ruler, he may have taken offense to the soldier not bowing before him, but Alan really did not care overmuch. Once upon a time, Alan was a soldier as well, and he didn't expect any less. He was just happy he could rely on the people gathered here, including this man who saluted in front of him. The man saluted, that was good enough for Alan at any rate.

"Well met soldier! At ease. Glad to have you with us Eli. I've heard quite a bit on your exploits as well, you seem to be just the type for the mission we have in mind." Alan said with a bright smile.

Astara Benson - City of Steel - Arch-Lord Palace

Clad in a http://www.canmag.com/images/front/movies2006/ultraviolet3.jpg, a plasma pistol at her hip and a bored expression on her face, Tara climbed the stairs to the Arch-Lord palace, taking them two by two. She hoped that their meeting wouldn't involve a lot of pomp, procedures and speeches. A quick mission briefing was all she needed to get going. Her blue eyes glittered in the morning light and a soft breeze ruffled her blond, spiked hair.

Tara felt right at home in this busy city. It offered so much more than living in an aging bunker. Once all this is over, she would settle down right here, in the City of Steel, where she belonged. Maybe, she would even meet the right guy here. However, men came second in her life - her career meant more to her than a silly fling or a one night stand.

The sound of her boots, as she entered the marbled hallway, echoed through the corridor, as she made her way to the meeting chamber. Without knocking or waiting for anyone to show her in, she pushed the doors open and marched right in. Her gaze fell onto the Arch Lord and his wife first, then she noticed that a few other Angel drivers had arrived before her. With a shrug, she walked up to the Arch Lord and bowed briefly to him and his wife.

"Astara Benson, Angel driver and one of the best," she introduced herself. Tara was proud of her achievements and she wouldn't even consider to be humble about it. "Did I miss anything?" she asked with a smirk.

Alan smiled as yet another soldier entered the room, this time one of the two women. The woman he recognized as Tara, another extraordinary ANGEL pilot. The woman gave a slight bow and introduced herself.

Good, good. Everyone is almost here. Which means we can begin the briefing soon.

Alan nodded at her and smiled. He spoke.

"Welcome Astara, welcome! I hope your enjoying the city? I always like to here how my soldiers think of their capital. Glorious eh? Anyway, happy to have you here as well soldier. Like the others, I have heard a lot about your skill with the ANGELs, which is obviously a good thing. We will be begin the briefing shortly, so feel free to relax a bit." Alan said, face beaming in the sunlight.

For a second, Alan wished he had some sunglasses.

"Thank you sir, it is an honor for you to say that, we'll do what needs to be done... right guys."
He said it with a smirk, he was rather indifferent to his companion's thoughts of him, but one of them seemed to stick out, he remembered the escort mission, he had to sacrifice many lives to save their councilor, was this one of the ANGEL pilot's who had given him support...?
"Malevol- Paladin Commander is that you...? I think I was with you during the MF Escort..."

Alistair Wright - The Arch-Lord's Palace - City of Steel

Smiles graced both faces, Alistair's and Clara's. Lord Burns accepted the apology, dismissing it's need as something that mattered not. He was happy for them, there was no need to be sorry. Then, something that utterly shocked the ace pilot, an offer of aid. There was the leader of the entire nation, responsible for an unfathomable amount of lives, saying he would lend a hand to the new parents should need be. Clara beamed like the sun and shone with a brilliant smile, Alistair smiled grandly and hugged his wife again, kissing her on the cheek as well. Their happiness was simply immense.

Other pilots appeared from the blue and took their knee before the Lord and Lady of the palace. Save for one man who only saluted Burns, this displeased Alistair greatly. This man hadn't the needed respect for the Lord if all he gave was a pitiful little hand-wave. If the last name of Wright bore the crest of the Arch-Lord, the worm would have groveled at his feet and been grateful. Clara would have stopped that train of thought in its tracks had it been vocal. No this time though, the pilot openly pondered how awful it would have went for the idiotic soldier had he done that to Alistair if he were Lord. It wouldn't have been pretty at all. Now wasn't the time to think of these things, a briefing was at hand and all focus was to be directed towards it.

A female pilot walked in unceremoniously and bowed, satisfying her new peer's desire for everyone to show fealty. Her attitude, it intrigued him. The Master Pilot studied her voice closely, determining whether she believed she was one of the best. She did indeed believe it, no trace of doubt was hidden anywhere. Yet, Alistair had to respect her tenacity and confidence. It reminded him of himself as a young lad, even his present self. Her mettle would be tested, he would decide whether she could live up to her tag line.

Clara tapped Alistair's shoulder and her turned to her with a grin on his face. " My love, I can see that this is important to your mission and that it's highly confidential. I'll leave and allow you all time to prepare and such. I know you'll be gone for a long time and it will wear on me as the baby grows, but I'll endure like I have. I didn't marry a soldier with a soft heart in my chest, I'll wait. I know you're out there doing what you were born to do, be the best and protect our people. " She smiled at him and kissed his lips.

The pilot's smirk faltered slightly but he maintained his positive mindset, nothing could bring him down. " This trip will weigh on me as well darling, I shan't forget you or our child. I'll think of you everyday and hope to the high heavens for your safety and well-being. I shall write letters to you of how I fare and save them for my return. Know that I'll never forget you and that I fight for much more now, I fight, this time, for our child as well as us. "

His wife threw her arms around him and tightened her hold as much as she could until they finally separated. They bade each other farewell with reluctant faces but knew it was going to be alright. Alistair watched Clara depart and waved to her each time she turned around to look at him, soon she was out of sight. He was glad that a plan had been set up for this very event, he had entire squad of soldiers assigned to guard he with their lives, along with maids and every other servant possible to care for her and assist her. She would be the most well-cared for and safest woman in the world.

The pilot's attention snapped back to the situation at hand. He looked back to see all his new comrades. Some looked familiar and quite capable, others, looked the opposite. Faith was there, since they were chosen by the Arch-Lord himself but Alistair would reserve room for his judgement. None of their actions would escape his scrutiny. The pilot turned to Xane, as he was called by Lord Burns.

Half to himself, half aloud, he spoke, " Xane... Straza? Was that the name? It must be. Not many would have their name's remembered by myself if they hadn't done something impressive in front of me. " He approached the man and gave a quick nod. " Straza, that's your name, correct? I believe we've fought together before, thought I cannot recall when or where. " Alistair spoke in a tone he rarely used, one with a hint of respect.

City of Steel: Palace of the Arch-Lord

Alan nodded at Eli in acknowledgement and turned away from the man, more interested in talking to his wife at that moment.

"Well my dear, everyone is her except for Viola. Think there may be a problem?"

Illyana's face was downcast as she looked at the floor.

'Oh, I would hope not. Poor girl must be feeling so bad right now. Her family is still in the OH right?" Illyana said, voice filled with concern. Alan noted it.

"Well, what's left of it anyway. For all we know, she may be the last Maxson alive. I hope that is not the case, but from the talk of the war, the OH is literally getting the snot beat out of them. They brought it upon themselves however. Karina sure isn't like her father...." Alan said, quitely thinking to himself of the pendant Radec have given him for Alexis so long ago. Alan missed his old friend. Come to think of old friends, Alan missed Orion as well.

A great warrior that man. Maybe I should build a statue for him, sort of pay my own respects. I can see it now. "Orion Vincente, Third Caesar of the Legion and great friend of the Arch-Lord."

Illyana laughed as she silently watched Alan in thought.

"Oh dear Alan.... You really do get side tracked quite easily don't you!"

Xane Staza.

Xane snapped to attention and turned to Alistair when he spoke, as before that he had been watching Alan and Illyana intently, always aware to threats to the Lord and Lady. He smiled at Alistair in thought, trying to recall where he may have served with the man. Xane himself knew Alistair, after all, it was hard not to know the Red Swordsman. Xane may hold the title as greatest pilot, but he knew that this man was not far behind him.

And his apparent devotion to the Arch-Lord was something to be admired. Inspiring really. Xane spoke, a smile still upon the young man's face.

"Yes. Xane Straza, first ever pilot for the ANGELs, and more importantly fulfiller of whatever the Lord and Lady would require of me. I live to serve. That is my only purpose in this life. I have had a hand in all major operations the ANGELs were involved in, so it's entirely possible that we served together at one point my friend." Xane paused for a moment, something clicked in his mind after taking a good long look at him.

"You were an ANGEL pilot during the attack and subsequent victory over the Michigan Federation yes? And again for the Khan Empire's downfall? Yes, I remember now! You are the Red Swordsman are you not? It's nice to meet you, your exploits are well known around these parts. Let me formally introduce myself then. My name is Xane Straze, proud pilot of the ANGEL Emperion and servant to the Lord and Lady Burns." Xane said with a wide smile and a small bow, obviously happy.

Levernius Tucker

Tucker rushed into Alan's thrown room. He was wearing a dirty red robe and was carrying a plasma sword with him. He rushed towards Alan and took a bow. Once he finished bowing he spoke to Alan.
" I am sorry for being late, but I had to clean up a tribal camp in Mississippi before I came here."

http://infinitespace.wikia.com/wiki/Glorinda - City of Steel - Palace of the ArchLord

Viola Maxson walked down the streets of the City of Steel. She was well known but not to an extent of being famous, though her appearance and blood born from the Maxson is what drew the civilians of the Brotherhood. She was greeted with bows as she walked by. Soldiers on guard duty halted themselves, as they saluted as she passed by. The City of Steel architecture was bright and beautiful. She nodded at the people that bowed at her as she continued walking.

As she walked to the ArchLord palace, thoughts in her mind raced on the war that the OH was involved in. With the Trinity upon them, she was worried about a nation which she admired as much as the BOS but what was the most important on her mind were the Maxson's living in OH. The main branch of the family here in Brotherhood lands have been worried and nervous. She hated the Legion and UNSR, The Legion for its mistreatment of women and the UNSR of its Stalinist like nations. Though to her, it was more than protecting the Heaven was a prime nation and inspiration of Humanity. She adored the nation with its beautiful and dark cities, and its philosophical ideas. Some like the ideas of Mutants are free refused to persuade her...the idea of robots having a conscious was mixed with her as it was possible. She stopped in front of the ArchLord palace gates, and thought for a bit on Outer Heaven. They did mock the BOS beliefs but still.........

Viola walked down the extravagant halls of the Palace and were marvelous. It was more beautiful than her estate in Aurora. She went into the room of ArchLord Burns, awaiting her. She wore her cape, which bore the http://imageshack.us/a/img440/7508/maxson.jpg. She noticed several other elite Angel pilots. None which she knew but she noticed the “Red Swordsman”, who was also one of the first men to pilot an Angel. She stopped in her tracks in front of ArchLord Burns and her wife Ilyana. She bowed and raised her head up and spoke.

“ArchLord Burns, Viola Maxson, reporting to you. I see there are several other individuals here waiting. This must be of great importance.“

OOC: Just decided add a formal title to her. Nothing much, though added it considering she is or royalty. Is it ok? http://imageshack.us/a/img440/7508/maxson.jpg http://infinitespace.wikia.com/wiki/Glorinda

Paladin-Commander Redfield

"Malevol- Paladin Commander is that you...? I think I was with you during the MF Escort..."

Redfield spun quickly around at this words and immediately recognized the face of the man who stood before him. Seeing Elijah brought back memories of the Michigan Campaign, when the Brotherhood burned its way through the territory of the Federation and captured the country within the timespan of a few weeks. Redfield always looked back on that event with fondness. The Brotherhood has shown its true power to the world then, and he was honored to have been a part of it.

"Ah! Shaun Elijah? Is that you? Well I haven't seen you for quite some time. Not since Paladin-Lord Godfrey's division plowed through Detroit that is. Tell me how have you been this past few years my friend?"

Shaun Elijah
He extended his hand in a friendly manner, thinking about the past.
"You remember Zeta-Omega? The escort... you gave me a lot of support, wouldn't have saved the Councilor if you hadn't been there."
He rubbed his shoulder plate, his old Zeta squad emblem shining on it
"The past is for reflection..."
They had to sacrifice twenty paladins and five scribes to save the Councilor, many thought it wasn't worth it... But he knew what had to be done.
"STINGER's still here... thinking bout painting him with our Mid Western colors... shame we got transferred, I remember being in training with you! Paladin Vark... Funny man... Funny man, always messing with us."

Alistair Wright - The Arch-Lord's Palace - City of Steel

Alistair watched the man as he spoke, taking every word in as it was voiced. This man was easily identified as a devout soldier and protector. That trait alone would have pleased the ace pilot, as he approved greatly of anyone who was even an inch as staunch a supporter of Lord Burns and the Brotherhood as himself. The man was indeed Xane Straza and he thought they had served together as well. Alistair wracked his brain, trying to resurrect the face from old memories. None came to him at first, even though he studied the man as closely as possible. Xane beat him to the punch a moment later.

My name is Xane Straze, proud pilot of the ANGEL Emperion and servant to the Lord and Lady Burns." Xane said with a wide smile and a small bow.

The pilot allowed himself a proud grin, basking in the admiration of the younger man. He found himself liking this new, yet old, comrade. Despite his ego boost, Alistair's code popped back into his head. Obligation lead him to return the bow Xane gave him, not lowering as much as his fellow pilot. " Indeed I was. I was present for the Federation as well as the Empire and I am that man, my reputation proceeds me it seems. " The ace chuckled lightly. " It is a pleasure to meet you formally. As for myself; I am the Red Swordsman Alistair Wright, liege of the Crimson Knight, I also serve the Lord and Lady to the last breath. It is pleasing to see another so respectful of our superiors, with so great a sense of affection. 'Tis a sorely missing quality. "

Still feeling the effects of Xane's comments, the Master Pilot sought conversation with the man. Not often did someone inspire the thought, but it was there. Maybe Straza was worth the attention, perhaps he had an interesting story to recount. " Tell me Xane, how do expect this infant war to proceed? I would imagine, without hesitation, that you know the conclusion. But how that conclusion comes is another story entirely. " Alistair added another topic to the mix as well, seeing what the man used to further his nation's causes. " Also, to the matter of our partners, do you feel your ANGEL is up to the task of combating this new threat? "

Xane Straza

Xane nodded in full agreement with Alistair's words, most definitely the ones about the respect and servitude to the Arch-Lord and Lady. Xane suspected he and this man would get along well.

"Yes, the Lord and Lady are the most deserving of respect. They do so much for everyone. I am glad there is one such as you, who feels the same way. It seems that a few, not all, but a few, of the others do not quite grasp that concept. Truly, they are lucky that the Lord Alan is gracious, and does not punish them for such nonsense. Not even bothering to bow to the Lord and Lady, absolutely preposterous." Xane said, in his mind scoffing at Eli, who dared to disrespect the Arch-Lord by refusing to bend a knee in reverence. But, Alan didn't seem to mind, and that confounded Xane.

Xane smiled when Alistair spoke of the war and then of Xane's ANGEL. Xane took great pride in the Emperion, and considered it more of a silent friend than just a machine. The two had spent so much time together, he felt a certain sentimental bond to it, even more so than he did with the Reaper, his first ANGEL; which was now in the service of some other pilot.

"That's a good question Brother. The war with Ronto is looming, no one can deny that. But, I don't imagine the Ronto will stand an inkling of a chance. From what I hear, the head brass has their best men leading the op, including the illustrious Colonel Talon, Paladin-Lord Wilhelm, and Paladin-Lord Goddfrey. Ronto won't know what hit 'em. As for my ANGEL, oh most definitely is it ready. Being sort of the pet project of Head Scientist Hadron, creator of the ANGELs, it get's all the latest upgrades and equipment, and since I serve as Lord Alan's body guard quite frequently, I train very extensively with it. Heh, it's funny. After a while, the ANGELs feel more like a extension of the pilot rather than a weapon or tool. Like it becomes natural to fight using one." Xane said, heart swelling with pride when talking of the Emperion.

Lord Alan began to speak, and Xane immediately snapped to attention. Finally the briefing had begun.

Lord Alan Burns and Lady Illyana Burns

Finally, all members had arrived. Alan greeted the last two that had came in and bowed before him. He laughed at Tucker's words, and smiled brightly at Viola, happy she seemed ok, due to the fact of recent happenings in the world right now.

" Good work Tucker! Hope you gave those tribals the what-for. Nasty little devils, always cannibalizing one another... But I digress. Welcome to you as well Viola! Yes, I assure you it is of most importance." Alan said with a wide smile. Seeing everyone had arrived, he stood up. Jeremiah called everyone to attention, voice gruff and cold.

"The Lord Alan speaks!"

Alan sighed and smiled at his congregated force.

"Thank you Jeremiah. Now that I have all of your attention, let us begin shall we? We have been waiting long enough. Welcome my soldiers! As you can see, I have called together here the very best of you, the elite of the elite. You are all ANGEL pilots, the top of of your profession as soldiers of the Brotherhood. As Viola pointed out, the reason I have called you all together is of utmost importance. Roswell! Hand these soldiers the PDAs' for Hadron."

A small man in blue scribe robes appeared from one of the corridors in the hall, carrying a container of brand new PDA systems. He handed one to each of the pilots. He walked silently back to the throne.

"Each of you have been handed a brand new PDA system for your personal use. This is a new OS created by Head Scientist Hadron, creator of the ANGELs you all know so well. It is resistant to EMP attacks. You'll need that. Now, on to brass tacks shall we? You have been called upon today to participate in a Black-Ops mission against a threat to the Brotherhood. No, it is not against the OH. No, it is not against the Ronto, as you probably have heard rumors about such things. Let me tell you for certainty. There will be war with Ronto. We shall be the attackers, and we will conquer. But you all will not be part of that operation. This matter is much more pressing." Alan took a deep breath and continued.

"Now, your mission. 2 days ago, the Brotherhood at Athos intercepted a message from a old CIA satellite. Interestingly enough, that message was not from the CIA, or any Pre-War people. No, this message was from right after, a a rogue squad of Brotherhood of Steel soldiers that split off from Maxson's group, during the very beginning of the Brotherhood of Steel. Our ancestors if you will. These soldiers found something, some sort of Pre-War data, something that is said to have had the power to win the war with China. Obviously, that right there is enough to warrant a search, but that isn't all of it. The soldiers were attacked. And killed. All by something they did not know, something that had the power and tenacity to take down approximately 30-40 power armored, heavily armored Paladins; also taking down some sort of aircraft, presumably a Hellion, with some method other than AA weaponry." Alan took a few moments to let it all sink in. He continued once the collective looks of everyone showed some sort of understanding.

"Here is where you all come in. You are to go into the far North, past Ronto, and find that data. You are also to find out what exactly killed those Brotherhood paladins and make it pay. No survivors. No exceptions. We do not have much to go on besides for that message. For all we know, it could be some secret underground army of super soldiers controlled by something like the Calculator. Whatever it is, it's big and dangerous, and could become a potential threat to everyone, not just the Brotherhood." Alan paused yet again, regaining his breath. He was almost finished.

"Mission specifics are as follows. This is a Covert Operation. Once you arrive, you will not have any contact with the main-land. The world is in a state of chaos right now. No other nation can detect your presence. Your on your own. Xane Straza will be your commanding officer, and I expect you to treat him as such. As always, insubordination will not be tolerated. You are all the best of the best, and are expected to act as such. Also, remember one very important thing. None of you are expendable. You are all family. Look out for one another and protect each other. Remember, we can replace your ANGELs, but we can't replace you." Alan smiled, once again showing his love for his soldiers. Took one last breath for good measure and finished up.

"Once you leave this palace, you will be escorted to the space port, where you will board a shuttle and be transferred to the Athos Space Station. You will arrive there, and Patriarch Traven and Head Scientist Hadron will give you some more specifics. Then comes the fun part. You will be transferred to Alaskan controlled territory via orbital drop, the first of it's in history. This will effectively disguise you as shooting stars, and the other nations will be oblivious to you. Once you touch down on Alaska, you will meant with Commander Winters himself, leader of Alaska. He will be accompanying you on the mission and server as a guide in Alaskan territory. Once out of Alaska, you will have to navigate yourselves through Ronto, by any means necessary. Remember that there is an impending invasion towards Ronto, and you must not under any circumstances give that info away. Once you pass through Ronto, find and destroy that unknown power and recover that data. Once you have done that, we'll find a way to get you all out of there. I have complete faith in you all. Listen to Captain Xane and fulfill your mission. Now, questions?"

Astara Benson - Arch-Lord Palace

For a moment, nobody spoke. Tara was the first to break the silence. Lord Burns had asked if there were any questions.

"Yes, just one though," Tara called out, "When do we start?" she asked with a grin, as she looked at her fellow Angel drivers. When everybody simply starred at her, she shrugged and murmured, "Geez, tough crowd."

She turned to leave, to head towards the space port, when another thought struck her.

Astara turned towards Lord Burns again and asked, "Will we receive new, modified Angel suits for this orbital jump or will our own suits be modified?" Then she remember who she was addressing and added "My Lord."

Levernius Tucker

Tucker was in the back of the small group of pilots, stealthily taking a peak at Viola's butt every now and again. Chicks in Outer Heaven had always been nice to him, while people in the Brotherhood didn't even care about him until he became an Angel pilot.Once Alan was done speaking Tucker walked to Viola and spoke to her "You look like you spend a lot of time in Outer Heaven. So,what do you think about the war? It doesn't look like it's going very well for them, does it. It's a shame that our Midwestern Brothers have declared them dissolute, I really liked the people there."
I hope this works. At least I didn't mention the augmented hokers this time.

Shaun Elijah
Eli was incredibly annoyed when he overheard someone calling it a "shame" that the MWBoS declared Outer Haven dissolute
"They took a [censored] on our ideals... what ELSE would we do...? They defiled our code and they have payed the price for those actions!"
Haven't even begun the mission yet, and there's already softies!
He turned to the Arch-Lord as he spoke
"No survivors no exceptions..."
He asked a question
"Unless we need intel, then we kill them after the interrogation... thank you for having me on this mission sir."
He began to clean off his rifle, trying to make sure it stayed as accurate as possible.

Levernius Tucker

Tucker heard someone speak up about his statement on Outer Heaven. Tucker walked over to him and spoke to him softly.
"I really don't like them that much either. But, I'm just trying to get some before our little trip. You know what a mean, wink, wink, nudge, nudge."
I hope no one else heard me. Especially the Arch lord.
Tucker then raised his hand.
"Mi lord, I have a question. Will there be any aliens on Athos?"

Lord Alan Burns and Lady Illyana Burns

Alan smiled at Tara's question. He spoke.

"You will all begin the mission immeadiately. Once all questions have been answered, you will be escorted to the space craft. Do not worry, as we speak all of your ANGELs are being transported to Athos via carrier ship. As for special suits, I'm sure Hadron will have something whipped up for you all." Alan said with a smile.

He then addressed Eli.

"Yes. Should you need to garner intel on the mission, you will capture your target, then you must kill them. If you do not, you could give yourselves away and cause problems for the assault force when we launch our attack on Ronto. It's better them than your Brothers. You are welcome, you all have earned this. I am exceedingly proud of each of you, and place all of my faith in that you all will be able to complete the mission." Alan said happily.

Then Tucker started making a ruckus, and said his last words a bit too loudly. In a room where all was quiet because everyone was intently listening to Alan's briefing, one would think Tucker would have been a bit more cautious, and used his brain a bit more. Such talk in the presence of the Lady Illyana was expressly forbidden. Alan was not happy. Tucker's idiotic question enraged the great Lord of Steel even further.

"Tucker. That's enough. You will not act so uncouth in mine or my wife's presence. Disrespect my house again and you will pay the ultimate price. Is that understood? You are not to touch miss Viola. You have been called here to act as an elite soldier. I expect you to do so. There were many others I could have chosen. But I chose you. Now act like a soldier of the Brotherhood and not a child. Do I make myself clear Tucker? Do not make me regret my decision. Mark my words. You cause problems on the mission, you will be dealt with accordingly." Alan said, clearly angry.

Pathetic. He's supposed to be an elite soldier yet acts like a child. I believe I shall inform Traven of this, and he can keep an eye on him while he is at Athos. Xane and Alistair will most definitely have their eyes on him as well.
