Animal friend svcks

Good lord what was bethesda thinking!!?!? Not only do you have to manually aim at EACH and every animal to pacify it before it runs up to you and mauls your face, but it WEARS OFF. they'll stay pacified for a minute tops, then immediately turn on you with just the first perk. In previous games one perk made animals friendly, and the second made them aid you in battle against non-animals, it made sense. Now we're stuck with this half baked, [censored] perk thats almost completely useless and has 2 more perks that are exactly the same just with different targets. Come on bethesda, wtf.

I'm just annoyed I can't pacify animals while using a melee weapon. It's very sluggish to have to switch to my gun, aim, pacify, switch back to my sword in heavy combat.

Also I never noticed it wearing off but sometimes my companion will continue to attack the pacified animal making it aggressive again, maybe that's what's happening to you?

Animal Friend affects dogs, yao Guai, and Mole Rats. That's it. Wasteland Whisperer affects Deathclaws, Mirelurks, Mirelurk Hunters, etc. basically, Animal Friend is not worth it. Wasteland Whisperer is the better choice with the option to handle Deathclaws into pets. Well, temporary pets, apparently, which makes the perk crappy.

It's definitely a waste of a point. It's easier to just avoid or shoot them.

Yeah, it's a waste. When I try and succeed in pacifying them, my companion still straight up murders them.

Why not pacify them, tell them to attack a target, and kill them both with something spreading and high damage?

Exactly, dogs and mole rats are already basically one hit instant kills and aren't a threat at all, and anyone above level 10 will dispatch Yao Guai's with ease.

Agreed - whoever thought that perk up has obviously never play the game before. It's so impractical to use in its current form that it's just worthless. The Fallout 3 implementation worked great, and is what they should have stayed with. And there's absolutely no need for two perks that do basically the same thing. Instead, it should be the exact same perk, but maybe at a higher perk-rank you can also pacify tougher animals, like Death Claws.

I agree. They either need o rework it so that it's like it was in fallout 3 or roll it into wasteland whisperer.

That said it does have one advantage in that rank 2 and 3 are available much sooner than whisperer or intimidate. So you can incite attCk dogs at rank 12 and take Yao Guai as pets at lvl 28.
