Animal pelts

Is there a mod that when you take the animal pelt(deer, wolf, etc.) you get to see the animal all skinned up?

No. As far as I know. I'm 99.9% sure that there isn't.

If that's true I'm surprise. This would be one of those little mods that adds alot of immersion. Hopefully, someone looking at this post will get an idea.

I don't think it would be a little mod; it would probably be a complicated mod that would require someone with a lot of experience with blender or the like as well to make and there would also be all sorts of compatibility and the likes. It would nevertheless be quite cool and provide a lot of immersion.

What would be cool is if there were also exotic animal pelts you could find in treasure chests, etc....that were not of animals living in Cyrodiil, but elsewhere. Of course, they would be very rare...upping the value some.

It would require some Blender work and probably Obse to implement it. I don't know how does 'Harvest containers' work, but basically dead creatures are containers as far as game is concerned. So I think it would be possible to do it same way (and it would be cool).

Yep, it would require Obse, and 'skinned' versions of the creature meshes... 'alot' of them :D. Those are the real difficulty, the rest would just be some good OBSE magic with the SetModelPath and Update3D commands. I've never seen such models. Besides, it would not be pretty. I mean, skinned hounds are gruesome enough (though they are the definitive necromancer's pet), I don't want to think what a poor skinned deer or wolf puppy would look like...

Its something that bothered me too. I also want to see the dremora's chest open as I rip his heart out (and me holding it in the air and yelling 'Kalimaaa!!!...', and squeezing the daedric blood in my mouth...)

Wouldn't SetModelPath change model for every deer in game?
How is it done in Harvest containers?

I think that basic skinned models wouldn't be too hard to make.

I believe Harvest containers supplies their own animated meshes for all the containers. That's also how Harvest Flora works. I'm a little more familiar with HF because I've gone through and adjusted it for my own purposes.

Hmm, then how about a 'skinned shader'? It actually sounds alot easier (sorry, it was just too funny...), and I think Deadly Reflex does that for enemies killed through critical elemental hits. And with some effort one could apply it to dremora NPCs too! (Kalimaaa...)

I like how in games like Red Dead Redemption your character has an animation when skinning a deer with a knife. IIRC, i could be wrong, they avoid the gore visual part except for the sound of cutting flesh along with spoken random remarks of repulsion. I might post a link of that vid later.(just to inflate more ideas) :liplick:

UPDATE:
Here are two links:

It seems(maybe I'm seeing things) the deers and coyote have the same mesh when skinned. I guess, to avoid doing different animals meshes the creators(in this case) made the kill look so maimed or distorted that is unrecognizable and thus making the mesh applicable to different animals of similar shape.

LOL, I knew it. It has been done for Oblivion! Look at this vid. Forget about the beginning of the video; in the last minute of the vid they show the skinning of a deer done by a certain mod. Slightly crude for my taste but it HAS BEEN DONE nevertheless. Check it out:
