Nah, I'm just too lazy to release it, give me some good reasons and I'll think about it though. ;)

:cookie:

You can do whatever you want, but a lot of people were looking forward to this. :)

Oh and otherwise http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?s=&showtopic=943540&view=findpost&p=13841378 releases his first :P

Nah, I'm just too lazy to release it, give me some good reasons and I'll think about it though. ;)

Thanks to the modding community, Morrowind has evolved in ways unimaginable since its original Bethesda incarnation. There have been new body meshes, new clothing textures, new spell effects, everything you could possibly want.

Except an innovative and high-resolution new menu. That blurry 1024x768 MSPaint .jpeg monstrosity is just painful to look at, and there are very few other menu screen replacers. Release this, and you'll be like Thomas Edison! Starwarsguy, pioneer of the moving picture! Life on Vvardenfell will never be the same!

Hope this doesn't end up on some dusty forgotten things pile.

As Stonefrog says, the menu is one of the few parts of Morrowind to be improved (though you have improved qutie a few of the other parts that were left unimproved *chuckle*). Let's see this thing! :D

C'mon SWG, the light's at the end of the tunnel! Getting lazy when you're 10% there is one thing, getting lazy when you've reached 90% is just painful!

Ok, you guys have made me think about it a little. I may play around with it again, and release another Beta.

..Or not :P

...Or yes. :D

I love doing this. :hehe:

I was making a sarcastic joke there, not sure if it got across or if I'M the one who missed the joke, tone of voice lacking on the internet and all.

Did it not work previously? Are you still futzing around with why it's incompatible with ENBSeries? Worry about that later! There's tons of people who don't use ENBSeries and are just as entitled to your awesome menu as everybody else.

Have I told you about how I have mapped for games such as Half-Life and Team Fortress for years (ever since late 2006) and nothing has EVER made it past closed beta testing versions? I hate myself, and I'm working like mad to complete this Wolfenstein 3D mod of mine with the support and motivation of friends who are interested. Quitting is for the weak.

In retrospect, the one who releases their glitchy and imperfect works to the public is superior to the one who speaks of grandeur and perfection but never has anything to show for it.

Get on with it! :woot:

That is exactly why I don't want to release it, I don't want to release something if I can't even use it myself. And I never even figured out how to get it to work without ENBSeries properly.

But if you release it, someone else might be able to resolve the problems you're encountering with ENBSeries, while at the same time allowing everyone else who doesn't use ENBSeries (the Majority of people) to use the Animated Menu.

Snip

I think people should bide their time.

Apparently people are a bit to eager to understand (At least this is what I think), is that Starwarsguy hasn't even fully gotten it to work without ENB. There's still issues with a basic version to work out.

Give him some time people =) I'm also eagerly awaiting this but cut him some slack!

Hope your doing allright SWG.

:celebration:
Cheers dude, just because you are really, really cool =)

Oh well, I thought you said it would work, just not with ENB :( I guess I just must getting used to the fact that there will be no animated main menu. Well, if it never comes out, I guess I could live without it ;)

In regards to the animated menu not working with enbseries...
Looks like the enbseries problem is with a crash in quartz.dll when using enbseries d3d9.dll (any of the gtasa ones - 0074 series or 0075 series).

I don't think quartz.dll can be replaced in windows without going into safe mode (haven't tried that), and it doesn't seem to get recognized by placing it directly in the morrowind dir with d3d9.dll. Replacing quartz.dll may not be the best solution tho - it's part of directx and should be upgraded/downgraded along with the rest of that package.

FYI: I'm using directx v9.0c Nov2008 redistributable (4.09.000.0904).

As far as trying to get the menu to work without enbseries:
Have you tried encoding to an mpeg format, then renaming the video with .avi extension?
Download Fliggerty's Christmas_Club.mpg or Halloween_Club.mpg and rename them as .avi - both are widescreen format and I used them as tests for this method; they play correctly in-game with the game menu displayed over the video and selectable. ;)

Thanks for the tips there Techy, should come in usefull.

Another issue is that the sheer hugeness of my files seems to cause issues in itself. Any idea how to fix that? Or what the highest resolutions of the common acpects people play Morrowind on?

Going high as 1940x1080 is killing it. Are there any game with videos of that resolutions? I don't think so. 1280x800 and 2 more with close resolutions for 4:3 and 16:10 should be enough.

I'm behind the times and I absolutely hate widescreens. 4:3 and 5:4 aspect ratios are the only ones for me. But I definitely think you needn't go any higher than 1600x1200 for 4:3. Honestly, anybody who even considers running Morrowind at resolutions beyond that is kinda pushing it.

Edit: Replaced the direct link.

PS. Funny that the file itself isn't one of the standards.

I've run MW once with 2048x1536 but for my 22" monitor 1600x1200 works the best.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Vector_Video_Standards2.svg

I think that only one video for each aspect ratio is enough. While using this video in lower or higher resolution its size would be interpolated.

I think 1280x resolution group would be appropriate (6 videos) - it doesn't define only 17:9 ratio, which is unusual.

You could also check out http://www.screenresolution.org/ website for a breakdown of the most common resolutions, at least for internet usage. Still, a pretty good representation of resolutions as a whole.
