[WIPz] Animated Morrowind

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 9:06 am

the stopping to breathe looks a bit weird, otherwise it looks ace! Thank you for your hard work =)

Well you see I made the animation able to seamlessly loop in blender at the end being when he takes a breathe, but I noticed in game it sometimes stutters when it loops which seems to have happened in the video.

Yes. maybe that was it. =)

Also he's totally in timing, people are a bit more random. I can understand that you have to loop it somewhere, but between that, add some randomness if you may. Maybe miss the spot a bit, maybe one time with another rhythm.

Though if you are to say that and the same animation is applied to a full crew of miners, it would look even weirder. I would say if anything, make a few different styles of it to ensure as much diversity as you can.

I was going to do just that. :)

Have you thought about trying to edit the vanilla walking animations? Just a thought.

Finally real http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-yXkQfj1OjI in morrowind, sorry for the crap quality it's another stupid avi to mpeg converter I used. The gloves with the pickaxe are courtesy of Arcimaestro Anteres and animation is by me.

Edit: Any recommendations on good avi to mpeg converter's that are completely free?

The animation looks a little stiff, like a robot, but the premice is great, I'd just make it look a little more natural is all.

For conversion/compression I always use http://www.virtualdub.org/, great program, it can compress a Fraps AVI that's a few hundred megs into a few tens of megs, without noticeable quality loss. And these compressed files on Youtube usually go to HD!

Looking amazing so far! :) Will you be covering mods such as TR?

Also, please consider redoing walking animations. They pale in comparison to your new ones.

I actually like the current walking animations- you're welcome to do your own, but I'd appreciate it if it was a separate .esp from the rest of the mod.

Damn, you're animating like mad.
I'm not modding much at the moment, it's summer so I'm out a lot more than usual, but soon as autumn comes I should be able to help you with this, in fact, I've got an old man cane walk I could probably tweak up for this
I'll warn you though, I'm a perfectionist, so I may take longer to make animations than you and Tarous, but I'll assure you they'll be decent animations. ;)

To people asking about walking animations, I don't believe the goal of this project is to reanimate morrowind, but animate it more. Maybe a Reanimated Morrowind project could come after this, I don't know. ^_^
I am still working on my walking aniamtions, but getting them just right is hard, walking animations themselves are especially hard to get just right due to the way the game scales the aniamations.

Here's my latest walking animation to put you at rest: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c30MmgpvsG4
Sorry bout the music, been listening to Led Zeppelin way too much lately, and please if you have anything to say about it, pm me, don't derail this thread (though I guess I just did that myself). If Antere's wants to do his own walking animations, then that would be great, the more the better, plus some competition may just be what I need to speed up my walking project. :D

Wow, long post, well got that out of the way, I'll probably be off the forums for a while, so bare with me if I don't answer any questions or pms.

Yes :) later the video...

I don't know yet if this work will be more as a modder resource (that means only one Npc each new animation) or will be something larger to bring life to most of the ares of MW. It depends also on the feedback I receive.

I cannot compete with you :)
I'd like at the end to make a tutorial to animate with Blender and Nifskope, so anyone who wants can make his own animations. :dancing:

I may have missed the question being answered earlier in the thread, but will this be incompatible with Living Cities of Vvardenfell?

I am liking this stuff alot. adds some realism to the game. In real life people do things, they don't just walk back and forth all day.lol

you could do animated enchanting. IE you could see a mage performing an enchantment on a weapon, armor, clothing, etc. Animated bartenders IE pouring Drinks, Getting Food, Serving people, you could take it a step further and make Animated taverns, with people moving around sitting drinking and having drunken fun. On that subject is there any gambling mod? that would also add tot he tavern expeirence.

any ETA on this mod?

are you the one that made Real Time Gondola? is that out yet? and do you always have to watch the animation or is it skippable?

Oh my gosh, definitely my favorite one so far! The animation looks AMAZING, but the sound could be a little less... gross. The chewing sounds like one of those ash mires.

Really? I couldn't hear any chewing sound over the music...

EDIT: The die (from the Dice Throwing video) is fantastic! I like the sound, too.

For enchanting animation, I recommend to have the item levitating and glowing some kind of effect, at the hand of the mage

Awesome work!!

I don't think this is exactly what you have in mind for this project AA, but I may have a good idea for an animation.

IIRC, Fliggerty could use a particular spell casting animation in his "Oblivion Style Spell Casting" mod to make the mod work exactly like spell casting in Oblvion. Now, I may be incorrect about this, but if it's something you can do and you're interested in, then you may want to send Fliggerty a message and see exactly what he's looking for. :^)
