Animation Scaling Tutorial

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 11:54 am

Anyone remember http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1000663-scaling-different-body-parts-of-an-npc/page__p__14479444__hl__argonian__fromsearch__?
Well I made a small tutorial in the Skyrim boards to show how just how easy it is to do: http://forums.skyrim.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=302

Oops forgot you have to sign up for that. Here's a copypasta:
Hello, decided I'd do the first ever tutorial seems no one else seems to want to. Also Mark mentioned a long, long, time ago he should do such a tutorial but seems to have forgotten  (hope I'm not stealing your thunder mark)

Anyway this is a short tutorial on a technique discovered by Dirnae on how you can manipulate bones in the keyframe to scale body parts independently from each other. Especially useful since individual NPCs may all have different animations each, plus any worn items scale accordingly! It's just such an easy procedure(once you've figured out the tricks) yet with so much potential that I think it's woefully underused. In fact I don't think I've seen anyone apart from Dirnae and me use it.

So without further ado:

Sorry, the audio is total crap, you really should probably mute it and just follow the moving pictures in 480p fullscreen. Done in an ancient Max but you blenderphiles probably know how to work things over

Can't embed videos on here can you?

Thanks for this, merunnin! Any chance of a blender version? And how did you get Morgan Freeman to agree to that voice over? :hubbahubba:

Thanks Chainy. Unbeknownst to the general public, Mr. Freeman is a rather big fan of Morrowind. In fact, some people might have noticed his cameo as Prison Ship Redguard#1. He felt his head was not big enough however. I enlarged it for him and he narrated the process as a favour. I understand most people are not lucky enough to have max and not stupid enough to buy it, but morgan is busy with march of the penguins 3 d unfortunately. As an experienced user of Blender, perhaps you should take it upon yourself to help the good people?
