Annabelle not as powerful as it seems?

Post » Tue May 04, 2010 6:48 pm

:cryvaultboy: i play the game on xbox and have the newest update, with 87 explosive skill and strong 8 ,my annabelle show 331 DMG in pipboy.but when i tested it's power on Veronica, there is a little disappointment. With a direct headshot in vats ,veronica just lost 150 HP,she is weraing combat armor mark II (20 DT).in my opinion,Veronica should lose 200HP or above. Is this a bug?

I think..(its just me though so im thinking) that they added teh Impact Damage with the explosive, so it looks higher, yet if you freeaim shoot her, the Impact damage will do nothing, only the explosive (the only way you can actually GET the impact damage in there is through a VATS attack and the missile hit her..) so yes, another dead-end bug -_-, also I've been hearing complaints that the Fat Man isnt getting buffs when placing points in demolition Expert..(Idk yet since im max level at 35 with one point in that perk..) but so far, with Splash Damage, the Fat Man is now a force to be reckoned with..

i wanted to make a explosive character after the patch, but now i think explosive character is hard to control.i am in VH mode without hit the deck,my DT is 36 ,even though i use a fatman,it definitelly kills myself even i have a long distance from my enemy,i can't imagine what will happen if i got the splash damage perk! mercy is powerfull but the whole screen is full of explosion, you don't know enemy is killed or not.if not ,when you see them, they have been too close to you to use mercy. and it will cost you 4 perks to max it's power (3 demo expert and hit the deck). i am happy to use minigun though ,with all mod and AP bullet it can beatdown the cz57 and almost kill everything in seconds!

you kidding me? im a full on explosive character and I LOVE the patch! lol the Fat Man (with splash damage) literally looks like (and does) can take out an entire block in Freeside, turning everyone into flying body pieces XD and in actuality, in order for the Fat Man to truly be at its max capabilities, you need:

1. Demolitions Expert (x3)
2. Heave Ho!
3. Quick Reload
4. QuickDraw
5. Trigger Discipline (to make that .5 into a .4, a bit more accurate)
6. Splash Damage (WATCH OUT!!)
7. Hit the Deck (I doubt this can really work for you, since the Fat mans power still basically kills you lol)

demo expert doesn't effect fatman ,but heave ho and hit the deck is good .my point is that explosive is very likely to kill yourself when you distingrate enemy, and the cost is a little expensive .in my opinion,in VH ,they seems to make you damage to enemies *0.5 ,but the damage to yourself *2! explossive weapons is all AOE,so i think this makes explosives hard to control .and i like to use vats ,this makes me a little closer to enemy than you maybe~~

actually it does..with one point to the Demo. Expert, I got my weapon from 1000, to 1178 ( the 8 is most likely from the Lord Death perk) and no, in VATS, it actually reduces the damage done to you by your own weapon (and others) but because of the Fat Mans power so high, it still can kill you pretty damn good if you shoot close XD

i don't know why your fatman dmg will increase, but i use geck to see the demo expert after the new patch it doesn't include fatman. and i got a save to test on my 360 ,it's damage doesn't increase too.

I like explosives, always have! But a few things to keep in mind

1. Demo Expert Does not work with Missile Launcher/Annabelle/Fatman. Easy to verify by looking at the Geck/In Game

2. Hit the Deck is still bugged. It gives NO extra DT. Easy to test on the PC. Position yourself a set distance from a target and shot the missile launcher/grenade launcher at them. Write down the damage. Repeat several times. Then open the console and type player.addperk 001651B6(Gives Hit the Deck). You will continue to take the same damage.

3. All of the On Hit Damage from Explosives will NOT work - unless you use VATS. Again - easy to test. Shot a companion with the Missile Launcher free style. Note there HP. THen shot then with the Missile Launcher out of VATS - You will notice how much more Health they loss. Best way to use the Missile Launcher is using VATS and Steady - you can get 95% hit percentages from far away.

4. Splash Damage does work now - it used to be bugged.

hit the deck is bugged?i don't pick it up yet ,but i looked into the geck,it showed that if your weapon skill is "explosive",your DT *1.5. BUT the pipboy doesn't show the difference! so i dn't know whether it is funtional or nor ! need to be tested~~

beancounter, thanks for your advise,i test the hit the deck on pc ,and i think it "doesn't " work! i use a generade launcher stand close to a wall ,and my original DT is 38,then i shoot the wall ,but there is no any HP lost different with or without hit the deck! i thought this perk's descrbtion was wrong before and you still can get *1.5 DT,but now i highly doubt that it is a bug too!

It is bugged. Has something to do with the DT Multiple calculation. If you change the Perk to a straight +DT - like say +10 you will get an extra 10 DT the instant you equip an explosive weapon. But as it stands now it is bugged and gives no bonus.
