Announcing the Skyrim Fan Interview

Post » Fri Mar 12, 2010 2:14 pm

Here is my contribution, I hope someone will answer my questions too:

1) Can we see light through windows at night?

2) Do the caves still have doors or you have implemented more believable entrances?

3) Are there changing seasons that affect the vegetation, the animals, the people's activities?

4) Are guards and other npc's sensitive to sound? If I drop a heavy hammer while tresspassing, will that wake them up?

5) Is there any way to knock an opponent down unconscious without killing him? (I am not talking about essential npc's, I'm talking about non-lethal moves like Thief Deadly Shadows)

Thank you.

Will wearing different types of non-armor clothing serve any particular purpose? Will I ever NEED to dress up in fancy clothes, or common clothes, to have an event play out in a particular way?

I'm looking forward to this fantastic game so here are my questions:
:tes:

- Is there a script like in the Gothic series, when picking up ingredients/plants/items or opening chests/doors (showing you how the character actually reacts, crouching to take an object, opening the door with his hand, exc.)?
- can you practice fishing?
- can you grab onto ledges?
- what kind of water enemies are there (like the slaughterfish or the dreugh)?
- are there any other flying enemies apart from Dragons?

Hope you will answer to at least one of my questions

So we know cities are loaded seperately, but what about the houses within those cities?

1) Will there be enough factions to cover all types of characters? Think Knights of the Nine

-Endgame faction quests?

2) Are you happy with how the balancing is going with the spell effects? Think Telekinesis/Turn Undead

3) No hand to hand for those monks?

1. Will I be able to join the Necromancers?
2. Promotion in the guild will be more like those from Morrowind, or rather a simple system from Oblivion?

Have you reached the point yet where the 7,000 steps have actually been counted?

Will there be Daedric armor and weapons again? And will it be rare?

Destructible environments?
I wonder if the marks that dragons make on the ground (a preview mentioned a dragon "ploughing" the field in combat) are permanent or just cosmetic? Can we expect to see broken trees, houses, carriages or any smaller objects when we fight dragons?

Can we edit our characters appearance after the game has started? e.g hair style/length, add scars, body paint etc.

Are there more factions and are they handled better than Oblivion's?

WIll the game be scaled/leveled like in Oblivion? Please don't do this.

If you must do it, then please do it subtly, so I'm not facing off against an army of Dremora generals and fighting bandits with daedric armor. That's just silly. Please make it like Morrowind. Morrowind was much more fun, more believable, because it wasn't scaled like Oblivion.

It'd be nice to get a super Daedric artifact that is, in fact, a super Daedric artifact, and doesn't become irrelevant after five levels, being dwarfed by a Dwarf counterpart. And will there be levitation? Or are you going to organize cities into cells again?

I would suggest you do away with cells altogether. That would make pursuits much more believable

Then again, I'm not a designer. Maybe my ideas are crappy and make no sense. But you can answer my questions, right?.

Hello Todd & the team, I like what I heard so far about Skyrim and I'm very excited to play it.

1. Concerning the mature atmosphere of Skyrim: does that include brothels or any kind of prostitution?
2. Concerning the clothes: can we wear clothes over armor or armor over clothes? Can women wear menswear or the other way around?
3. Concerning dynamic snow: is snow just for cosmetics or it really has physics and the deeper it is, the slower the characters run?
4. Is cold playing any kind of role in the gameplay? Is it affecting a naked character?

I remember in Morrowind when I'd be injured and poisoned struggling to make it to a nearby town and just getting a potion before dying. It kept me on the edge of my seat and made me feel like "hot damn that was intense.!"

Uh, mark and recall?

1. Are there dragons right at the beginning of the game, or do they appear later?

2. It is known that if you kill someone who offers a quest, you can still finish it for one of their family members.
Do these people appear in the game after you killed the original quest-giver ?

3. Has the behaviour of the non playable characters an impact on the economy ?
(If you kill every fisherman in Riverwood, will there still be fish on the market?)

- is there still a green arrow that shows you where to go or it has been replaced by directions from npcs?

- do we have mutually exclusive quests given by opposing factions or by rivals in the same guild?

- are you taking into consideration implementing a hardcoe mode for RP'ers?

- is romance going to be accessible to the player via dialogue?

Will there be things in the game, treasure and equipment and such, that are actually rare? "Only appearing at high levels" isn't actually rare, by the way.

I forgot a question I wanted to ask.
I've read that the bow and arrows take longer to pull back before firing, but, they are more powerful. I was wondering If head shots were instant kills. because if they are it would be easier to kill people but it would give helmets an actual purpose. You could aim for weak spots in the armor (where as the eye slots you could aim for, or under the arm and the neck) I love archery but always used a sword because most NPC's and creatures take about 8 or more arrows to take down. Plus, most of the arrows disappear. Will this change? because I love doing epic kill shots.

How will summoning work?
Can you summon only one creature at a time?
Will they have durations like Oblivion?
What if you have a summon spell in both hands?

LOOT
Is loot scaled like in Oblivion? My humble opinion is loot scaling has defeated the very purpose of thievery in Oblivion, if you use your skill to break into richmen's houses I'd expect FAT loot not just carrots :bonk:

BOOKS
Can books be arranged properly in bookshelves? I'm a collector and I don't like the mess :hehe:

VERY EXPENSIVE PROPERTIES
Did you include some insanely expensive properties (farms, castles, ships) for later in the game? At some point I have too much gold and nothing extravagant to spend on :deal:

How does crime and punishment work this time around?
What does persuasion look like now?
How does conomic system work?
Maybe you can say something on guilds already
Is it decided will there be vampires or mounts?
Is dungeon crawling rewarding, I mean will I find somethimg unique and not related to any quest in some random dungeon (I know there are Word Walls, but besides that)?
Are there many quests with multiple endings, and are the guild quests non-linear?

And you have to lock this thread on the top of the forum!!!

Or at least write something like [OFFICIAL] in the thread name

A question about dragons:

Are dragons only different through their shouts they attack with, or are some models very different with some with no wings or with different scale colours? etc?

A few that I had in mind have already been covered by previous posters. Here's the only one left,

Concerning Character Creation: To what extend will our racial / gender selection at the start of the game will affecting our gameplay? Will it be much deeper than in the past games, or will it be decidedly less so as to make them all essentially started out as equal except in appearance and racial dispositions?

Not going to wade through 10 pages to check.... so....

Could you explain further what you meant by "loading walls" for cities in your interview with Gameswelt?
