We're pleased to announce our first fan interview for Skyrim. Post your questions in this thread. Over the next few weeks, we'll deliver questions to Bethesda Game Studios to answer. Once we have answers to share, we'll post them here in the forums, as well as on the blog.

How advanced is the level of customizability in the game menu? For example I hate hearing the grunts of my character, can I turn them off without turning off other ambient sounds?

(Assuming I'm Talking to Mr. Howard)

  • In your previous interviews you stated/said that dragons can talk. In that case, will there be dialogues between the player and the dragon? ...With 'essential' dragons, perhaps?
  • Will the Finishing moves feature loss of limbs, such as beheadings etc.?
  • When lock-picking, mixing potions, persuading etc. will it stop time like in previous games, or will the ‘problem’ be solved with a new, ground-breaking system?
  • How exactly will combining spells stand out from regular conjured spells? Will combining spells have significant animations, effects and/or similar elements to it that you can tell us about?
  • Will Smithing introduce new weapons to the game or just customizations? And if you don’t mind, how will the Smithing menu/system be like? Can you give us any hints?
  • Can you tell us a bit more about puzzles in dungeons? How will they be like, and will they be challenging to overcome?

Hasn't this already been answered hundreds of times...? They have a larger group of people working on dungeons this time to make them much more unique.

Will fishing be an addition to Skyrim? If not has adding fishing in Skyrim ever been a suggestion as a minigame?

any chance for halbergs or bardiches because i THINK i saw a concept art of a female in elven armor ( i think it was elven armor) and holdingwhat looked like a bardiche

1) You're clearly putting a lot more effort into designing dungeons this time, which is great, but what will the lighting be like? One of the problems I have with a lot of RPGs (not just Elder Scrolls games) is that dungeons are too illuminated, and from what i've seen so far of Skyrim they seem very bright. You'd kind've expect an ancient dungeon to have very little or no sources of light whatsoever, man-made or natural. In fact, I think it would be great to find yourself in a pitch black dungeon hearing echoeing groans and screams in the distance and to be forced to light a torch to find your way around. It would bump up the sense of immersion so much, as well as making the dungeons feel much more horrific.

Obviously a mix would be good. Some dungeons will be fairly well-lit if they've been disturbed by explorers... however the really ancient ones which haven't been disturbed for thousands of years should have very little lighting inside at all.

Want to ask again, how is the armor split up? Separate pauldrons and gauntlets? Can you wear clothing underneath armor and robes?

In Skyrim when the dragons attack cities do they destroy buildings? and if so are they repaired? is this instantaneous or can people be seen repairing the buildings?

My question is about the compass and the quest markers, are they optional? If so, will NPCs in skyrim give us enough proper information to get along without the compass and markers?

How will the music system work this time around? Oblivion took a step towards Daggerfall, having own scores for dungeons. Will Skyrim work the same way, or is it improved again, like tavern music (The bard in the trailer), crossfading etc.?
