Annoying constant grinding noise...NEED HELP!

Post » Sat Dec 12, 2015 4:16 am

Has anyone experienced this as well? Since I did one mission of going through the gunners plaza I have a constant noise what I can only describe as a grinding noise. The closest thing in the game I can come up with to this sound is when you are walking close to radiation but imagine that noise going through a coffee grinder and being completely constant throughout your game play. I tried to revert to an old save before I went through the gunners plaza but yet it came back and now is driving me absolutely insane. I hope no one else has had this happen to them but for my sake I hope someone has and has found a fix for it. PLEASE let me know if anyone knows how to deal with this issue as it makes it unbearable to play since it just wont go away!

Thanks in advance

Search the area for someone that has a ripper. I believe that you will hear it anywhere nearby while they have it. This was also a problem in Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas. Check the wikia and listen to the weapon sounds to determine if this is the problem.

Thanks for the reply, definitely no in the area with a ripper. It stays with me no matter where I go or what I am doing. The only ways to stop it for a short period of time (and I mean a few seconds to roughly about 30 seconds) is to use a weapons work bench for a few seconds then back out of it which takes this obnoxious sound away, but then it always returns no matter what I do at this point. I do not have a ripper in my inventory that I am carrying around as well. No clue what it is with it but ..... it is driving me insane

Describe your situation more, such as weapons, armor, followers, and et cetera.

It could be a skeleton. One time when I came out from the Water Treatment Plant, I started to hear a very annoying noise that wouldn't stop. I looked around and saw that one of the skeletons inside a cage had his hand spinning rapidly which was causing this sound.

It sounded like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4nKO0wHw9DE

Situation is I went through and cleared the gunner plaza for a random mission I had to collect something. After that a grinding noise has been constant after leaving that building. I continued on not thinking much of it but after time passed it really became a bother. So I figured it was a bug of some sort. So I reverted back to an old save before that mission and there was no noise. Did a few other random missions again until I went back to the gunner plaza and low and behold the noise came right back and has yet to leave after continuing. I can offload all of my weapons, armor, followers, entire inventory into a storage bin and the noise still continues. The only ways I have stopped it for short periods of time are what I stated above. The only other option I have right now is to turn down the sound effects to nothing to completely get rid of it, but then I hear no sound effects of the rest of the game haha. A bit of a dilemma if you ask me

Definitely sounds similar to that noise just not nearly as crazy loud as that thing is haha. Thanks for the tip. I have had that happen to me a few times but the noise never followed me around the rest of the entire world once I left. I guess I will go back and go step by step through that plaza and see if something is still spinning that I can hear from anywhere in the gaming world.

Are you married?

*derp*

Uhm, well could possibly also be a corrupted soundfile? You could try checking steam integrity if you're on pc?

If a workbench will stop the sound, then perhaps there is a correltion. Is there a weapon workbench there at the location in question?

:P

Sadly, I have no idea how to check that on the ps4. Possibly that would require a reinstall of the game? :S

I will definitely check, not sure if there is since I only use the one at my main base.

It is similar to that but definitely not as much of a clicking noise as it is a noise closer to the radiation noise in the game. If I knew how to upload videos and what not to youtbue this would probably be a lot easier. Also I went back to the gunner plaza, found a weapons bench and did the same as I always do to stop the noise. It worked while roaming inside the building but as soon as I left the building it came right back yet again.

Did you try the solution listed in description for the video?

I did to no avail. I will keep trying random things but at this point I think I might just got back to an old save and not go into the gunner plaza for some time until I'm feeling lucky I guess. Thanks for all the help

Try these steps I found on another site with the same video.

  1. Dismiss your follower somewhere (they said that they sent them to Red Rocket).
  2. Fast travel somewhere else (I would say somewhere far away).
  3. Save and exit the game completely.
  4. Restart and load your saved game.
  5. Retrieve your follower (they also did things for a while without their follower).

I am not saying that this will work, but worth a shot. Also what quest are you doing?
