im having a huge problem with fallout 3
i have decided to replay the game so i went on a different user since i wanted it to be fresh and clean...
when i reach the part between baby steps and growing up fast (where it says nine years later) the game crashes all the time.i did all i could to help, installed preformance mods change ini ect but it doesnt help!!!
iv decided to return to my old user it worked fine untill ALL THE SAVES GOT CORRUPTED!!!!
so i tried making a new game there but it has the same problem iv reinstalled the game and all i tried all users didnt help!!!! i also saw no one on the internet has this problem
I have alot of mods but im not gonna start uninstalling them all !!! i rely need help please
My computer is xp and intel core 2 i think its the only thing i know about it i also know it pretty good for a computer thats 5 years old running great with no bugs but i dont know anything else im not a computer wizz....
no it is not a pireted version (well atleast its most likely not to be) i bought it from a store called GAME its one of the biggest video game stores in the UK (btw it is game of the year edition)
Oh and i re-installed the game and it didnt help

Have you tried deleting the FALLOUT.ini and FalloutPrefs.ini in your My Documents>My Games>Fallout3 folder?

Also you said you wanted to replay the game? When was the last time that it worked and how far did you manage to get?
You might want to post a dxdiag as well.

XP: Go to Start->run, type “dxdiag” and hit enter. Click the Save All Information button near the bottom right. This will save a Dxdiag.txt in C:\ by default. Then open the dxdiag.txt and copy/paste the information into your post.

wait wat will happen if i delete the fallout.ini's how can it help and do i need them???

i have tried to play the game on different users but the same problem accured the only place it didnt have this problem was the user i made my last game on i played it abit then i stopped for a month came back to play all the saves got corrupted so i make a new game and the same problem i had with the other users is now happoning on the user that worked fine,i made a new user and it still has the problem on this one i cant play fallout at all on this computer now

You can either delete or rename those files and the game will recreate them with updated information. Your drivers are over a year old on your graphics card.

Yes ... move those files. Actually move the whole Fallout 3 folder (The one found under "MyDocuments\MyGames\Fallout 3")... just put it some place easy , like on your desktop.

Then restart the Game ... It will act like this is the first time your playing it.

If its working fine ... Then you can migrate Saves from the old folder to the new one.

The next thing I would try is updateing your Video Card Driver.

Then reinstall the game if that doesnt work.

Ok I updated my video card driver and there's still this problem!!!!

Try uninstalling Fallout 3 (just leave that "Fallout 3" folder on your desktop ... the one with saves in it)

Also look for a "Microsoft Games for Windows Live" folder off of your C:\ ... delete that.

Now I strongly suggest a disk clean and defrag at this point (Start\All programs\acessories\system tools\ ...)

Then reinstall Fallout 3 ... and possibly use custom install that looks like this "C:\Bethesda Softworks\Fallout 3" instead of default install location.

After that come back if its still not working ... dont try any other fixes yet.
