Annoying Ping Sound in VATS is too high!

Post » Sat Jan 30, 2010 8:42 am

Has anyone else noticed that the annoying ping sound in the VATS is too loud and kills the ears?
In the Audio options there is only an option to turn down entire sound effects, not just the VATS.
The problem is, I like having the sound effects at a certain level to hear the environment and other sounds.
BUT, then when you activate the VATS and confirm targets that ping is destroying my ears it is so loud.
The sound level of that damn ping in VATS will cause me to seek therapy if I play all the way through this game.
Is there a possible work- around for this?

yeah I noticed that too, it should be a toggle blip but it sounds more like an explosion.

Agreed. Does anyone care to see if this can be fixed in the G.E.C.K.? Unfortunately this may be hardwired into the game.

You can hardwire the playback volume all you want, but nothing stops me from extracting the file and "amplifying" it by -6.0dB...

The loud VATS sounds annoyed me also, so I whipped up a quick mod to address the volume levels. It reduces the volume of most of the sound effects associated with VATS.
